  • Season Pass for Assassins Creed Unity Cancelled

assassins creed unity season passAfter all of the issues that have plagued Assassin's Creed Unity since it's launch, it seems as if Ubisoft have lifted up the white flag. In fact, the developers have now decided that not only are they going to give away free DLC to say sorry to those that purchased the game, but they are now planning to get rid of the season pass completely.

It has already been announced that the Dead Kings DLC for AC: Unity will be made free for everybody, but they've now confirmed that they will be ditching the season pass, which means it will no longer be for sale, and any future DLC will most likely be put on sale separately.

For those that have already purchased the season pass, Ubisoft have you covered - you will be able to pick out a game from their library and download it for absolutely free. There are only a few select games to choose from, but I think Ubisoft simply limited the choice to make it less confusing for their customers.

The games that will be free to season pass holders will be Far Cry 4, The Crew, Watch Dogs, Assassin's Creed: Black Flag, Just Dance 2015 and Rayman Legends.

Despite the season pass being removed from the game, Assassins' Creed Unity season pass holders will still get free access to all future content, so the free game is an added bonus. It's odd that Ubisoft have taken this route, but i'm sure this is the best way to keep as many players happy as possible.

  • Heists Will Be First Update in GTA Online for PS4

Rockstar have already announced that Heists will be the first thing they work on after launching GTA for the next gen consoles, but in new news it's been revealed that Rockstar will not release any content updates without releasing an update with the heists in first.

That means no more clothing packs, no more vehicles, nothing until the heists are pushed out to public servers. This is great for two reasons - firstly it means the developers of GTA 5 will be dedicated to finishing online heists, and secondly the heists will be released fairly shortly after the game's launch.

Like with many things of similar fashion, no definitive release date for online heists has been given, but all four consoles will receive it at the same time, as "the first GTA Online update to happen after the game launches on PS4 and Xbox One."

After hearing complaints about the delays of online heists, Rockstar replied with a pretty standard apologetic statement "They are taking more time to create than originally anticipated. We are very sorry for the delay, and are working hard to bring them to you as soon as we can. Please know that we are focused as always on making the best possible content for you to play and we are thankful to all of you for your patience, understanding and support."

Are you looking forward to heists or have you stopped caring about them now that Rockstar have taken so long to develop them?

  • Destiny Matchmaking Voice Chat Coming Soon

destiny voice chatWhat's that? Are you hearing things? Nope, Destiny will indeed be getting voice chat soon, so the only thing you'll be able to hear are other people's voices.

Voice chat is something that has been in online games for a long time, and it's odd that a co-operative experience like Destiny has forgone any kind of chat system. Luckily, Bungie have heard the player's requests, and they have responded in the best way possible.

The voice chat system planned for Destiny is well under development, and Bungie have revealed that a beta phase for it will be released next week.

To give player's the option of whether they want to talk to others or not, a toggle option will be provided so that they can keep voice chat off or turn it on in the upcoming update.

You will also be able to switch between public chat and fireteam chat so that you can block out any other players that may be in the area. It will be interesting to see if the public chat will be held across the entirety of a map or whether it will be proximity based.

Hopefully there will be some options to keep chatting in the Tower to a minimum as well, considering that it is always filled with dozens of players.

When the new voice talk feature is added to Destiny will you make use of it, or are you happy to keep playing without interacting with strangers? We'd love to know your thoughts on this matter.

  • Free DriveClub DLC to Say Sorry to Players

free driveclub dlcIf you've been keeping an eye on the progress of Driveclub recently, you'll be aware that the game has had some issues since it's launch. Since the game was released via the PlayStation Network, players have been complaining about the server problems that have prohibited any sort of online play, something that the game heavily relies on.

The servers are pretty much all fixed now, but Evolution Studios understands that it was a big inconvenience for many players, and to say sorry they will be offering two premium DLC packs, previously planned for release this month, as a free content pack that any player can download.

The official statement from Evolution Studios said, "We know you have all been extremely patient and understandably frustrated during Driveclub's launch, and to show our appreciation for the support during this challenging time, we will be offering the premium DLC packs for November."

The two premium DLC packs planned for November are the Ignition Expansion pack and the Photo-Finish Tour Pack, and will add five new cars, 10 new trophies, 22 tour events and 10 livery items for both offline and online play.

To make sure season pass holder's aren't missing out, Evolution Studios will be expanding the Season Pass to include four extra premium packs planned next year.

It's great to see that Driveclub are offering up some free content to say thank you - they certainly don't have to do this, but seeing as they are shows that they are trying to keep the players happy, especially when issues like server problems are affecting gameplay.

  • Assassin's Creed Unity Struggling with 30FPS

unity frame rateWith all the recent talk surrounding games that support 60FPS, it's become quite a shock to hear that Assassin's Creed Unity is actually suffering from frame rate drops that dip below 30 frames per second.

Whilst frame rates in the less intensive areas do reach a nice, smooth frame rate, in some areas, both the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 struggle to provide this smooth frame rate. Whilst many gamers have been unnecessarily angry at the lack of solid, smooth 60FPS in many next gen games, not being able to achieve 30FPS in a game is something to get angry about.

After frames start to dip below 30, or more specifically 24 frames per second, the game becomes incredibly choppy, and this is a frame rate that the human eye can easily pick up on.

Although the frame rate can be increased with a few tweaks on the development side, unfortunately, the frame rate may not be able to be improved to the golden 60FPS standard we've all been dreaming about.

We do hope however that Ubisoft manage to get at least 30FPS in all aspects of Unity, because it would be unfortunate if this was not the case.

Interestingly, the Xbox One version of Assassins' Creed Unity has been reported to perform better than the PlayStation 4 version, something that many PS4 fans are confused about, considering that many were confident the PS4 had slightly better performance capabilities than the Xbox One.

Either way, whichever console you pick you are still going to have issues with frame rate at this current point in time.

  • Huge Halo 5 Guardians Gameplay Video Released

halo 5 guardians gameplayA brand new video has just made it online that shows off a whole games worth of online content from 343 Industry's upcoming game, Halo 5 Guardians.

Straight away, it's clear that the gameplay has been evolved more so than any Halo game before it. The first thing that is noticeable is that a lot of elements from Halo 4 have been incorporated into Halo 5 Guardians, including the various power drops and the overall look and feel of the gameplay.

However, a lot of new things have been added to make the game feel more in-line with other AAA shooters on the market. For example, players can now dodge sideways, similarly to COD: Advanced Warfare, and players can also jump over objects in a similar style to Call of Duty games too.

A new aim-down sight feature has been added, although there is no negative effects to hip firing luckily enough.

If you are a long time Halo fan, you may not like what you see. Check out the multiplayer video here.

Do you think 343 Industries have taken Halo a little too far? It's nice to see change, but are they taking the wrong turns? We would love to hear your opinions on this subject. Unfortunately, 343 Industries are trying to win back the mainstream market, and they are doing this by making choices that change the game into something Call of Duty players will be able to relate to.

  • Our Old Halo 2 Mod

halo 2 modIt’s time for a bit of a throwback. The Halo Master Chief Collection has just launched, and it’s flooded our brains with nostalgic memories of the hundreds of hours we spent on Halo games in the past.

In particular, Halo 2 is getting the most attention, and playing the new Halo 2 anniversary has reminded us of one of our best mods of all time.

Our old Halo 2 mod allowed players to fire two bursts of the battle rifle in the span of a second, and it had absolutely devastating effects. The combo could be achieved without a controller mod, and was often used by professional gamers involved in the MLG circuit.

With a controller mod however, the difficult to execute combo could be achieved effortlessly, and as you can see in the example video shown here, the double fire or BXRR mod could really kick some Spartan butt.

These kind of cool combos were key to being at the height of your game in Halo 2, and we expect to see a lot of these returning in Halo: MCC.

  • Halo Master Chief Collection Launch Details

halo master chief collectionThe Halo Master Chief Collection has finally launched, but the game has so much content inside it that there's a lot to take in, so we'll be giving you a quick insight into what's new.

    The Campaigns

All four original Halo campaigns from the main franchise, including Halo Combat Evolved, Halo 2, 3 and 4 can be played within the Halo Master Chief Collection. All games have had a makeover, although the most difference has been made to the Halo 2 campaign.

    The Matchmaking

343 Industries are still slowly rolling out the matchmaking playlists for the Halo Master Chief Collection, and so far there have been a few issues - give it a week and everything should be running. From there, we may have to wait a couple months before all of the playlists and the entire ranking system is ready for play.

    New Forge

As well as providing forge mode to all of the Halo 2 online levels, 343 have thrown in a few blank canvas maps that can be used to build to your heart's content. The new forge has tons of new items, scenery objects and special triggers to give you the chance to make the biggest virtual rube goldberg machine in the world.

    Halo 5 Beta

If the Halo Master Chief Collection isn't enough for you, then you may want to check out the Halo 5 Beta when it launches - this is an exclusive to those who pre-ordered Halo: MCC.

  • Halo 2 Within the Master Chief Collection is Absolutely Amazing

halo 2 within the master chief collection
For those unaware, Halo: The MCC has just released, and it has dropped our jaws to the ground. In particular, Halo 2 within the Master Chief Collection stands out for it's amazing new cutscenes and HD graphics that have been developed specifically for this new Halo installment.

Considering that the matchmaking has been having problems, it has given me more than enough time to hop into Halo 2 and experience the new HD rendition of what is perhaps one of the most classic video games of all time. From start to finish, the campaign is captivating and challenging, and the new cutscenes will definitely keep you from skipping through the story to focus on blowing up more covenant.

If you are still waiting for the matchmaking to come back, we'd definitely suggest checking out Halo 2 within the Master Chief Collection because it is stunning. In fact, even if the matchmaking is back up by the time you are reading this, still head into the Halo 2 campaign, because you'll be missing out on a lot if you don't.

  • Advanced Warfare Will Get a Few Fixes Soon

advanced warfare lagNoticed any problems in Advanced Warfare yet? If you haven’t then you are incredibly lucky. Many players have complained about various issues with the game, from bad hit detection and terrible lag, to a lack of dedicated servers and progress-ruining prestige bugs.

Luckily, Sledgehammer Games are on the ball to make sure things get fixed as quickly as possible. At this current point in time, they already have a fair amount of fixes on their to-do list, and they should be patched to the game over the next few weeks.

Firstly, the lack of double XP monitoring will soon be fixed so players can see how much of an impact the double XP is actually making to their levels in-game. Secondly, a few of the mechanics, including speed reloading, will be improved. On top of this, Sledgehammer will be making some adjustments to the camo unlock requirements for different weapons.

We should also see a range of new improvements and bug fixes on top of the ones mentioned above, including the ever-so-annoying emblem reset bug that happens after a player chooses to prestige.

It is great to see that Sledgehammer are working actively to get their game fixed, but it is a bit of a shame that these problems were present at launch in the first place.

Have you managed to play Advanced Warfare much yet? What are your thoughts on the new game, and will you continue to play amongst all of the current problems?
