  • Three New Tekken 7 Characters Announced

new tekken 7 charactersAs part of a celebration on the 20th anniversary stream on Nico Nico, three more characters have been confirmed for Tekken 7, and they will be making their way into the game at various points throughout 2015.

Two of the three characters are returning favorites, whilst one is a completely brand new character named Josie Rizal. Not much information has been shared about Josie, although it has been confirmed that her nationality is filipino. The release date for Josie Rizal has not yet been set, and Bandai Namco have simply stated that she will be added to the game "soon."

For those that are aware of Filipino history, you'll know that the name Josie Rizal is way too similar to Jose Rizal for it to be a coincidence. Jose Rizal is considered a national hero in the Philippines and lived in the 1800s.

The other two characters are two favorites that we all expected to see in Tekken 7 a lot sooner. The first is Jin Kazama, and the second is Devil Jin. Whilst Josie does not yet have a release date, Bandai Namco did announce on the live stream that standard Jin will be added to the game on March 31 as the first new character.

One week later on April 7, Devil Jin will also be added to Tekken 7.

I think it's great to see Jin being finally added to Tekken 7, and it's also quite interesting to see Bandai Namco adding a brand new character to the game as well.

  • Dragon Age DLC Coming to PS4

dragon age dlc ps4Even though the Dragon Age: Inquisition Jaws of Hakkon DLC was released last week for Xbox One, BioWare has revealed details on when the DLC will be coming to other platforms, including the PlayStation 4.

According to BioWare via Twitter, the Jaws of Hakkon DLC will be available for all other supported consoles sometime in May. This includes the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The reason BioWare could not reveal details about the Jaws of Hakkon coming to other consoles earlier was because their exclusivity contract with Microsoft prevented them from doing so.

In a Q&A session on Kotaku, BioWare's general manager, Aaryn Flynn revealed details about how the timed exclusivity deal works.

"Jaws of Hakkon is a timed exclusive for the Xbox One and PC. This approach allowed for a lot of support from Microsoft and Origin in launching the DLC, so it did have that benefit for the team, and we appreciate the partnership," Aaryn mentioned. "However, as a timed exclusive, it is definitely coming to the game's other platforms, and based on our internal discussions I expect we'll be announcing more details next week."

"I hope no one boycotts the purchase, as it's a pretty fun adventure that WILL be available on all platforms. That said, everyone is free to vote / message / communicate how they feel, so if that happens it happens. We're definitely paying attention."

It's good to see that Jaws of Hakkon is coming to PlayStation and the Xbox 360, but it's understandable to see why some gamers are frustrated by timed exclusivity deals like this.

  • Project Cars Will Receive Monthly Free Content

project cars free monthly carsIt's always great to see developers pushing out free content on top of the paid-for DLC that seems to come with every AAA game these days. Fortunately, Project Cars developer Slightly Mad is planning to release some free content each month to say thanks to any loyal long term players.

Even though Project Cars been delayed numerous times, the game is finally nearing release, and once it does launch, players will be able to pick up some free cars each month. There will also be some free content available at the launch of Project Cars as compensation for the extended delays.

The first free car will be released in May and it will be the Lykan Hypersport, a vehicle that has actually been featured in Furious 7. Details for other free cars have not yet been revealed, but we'll probably hear more from Slightly Mad once Project Cars has released.

Below, the statement from Slightly Mad regarding the free content can be read.

"We are immensely pleased to have this awesome machine in the game and to give fans the chance to get behind the wheel of a truly amazing vehicle.
The Lykan Hypersport represents the first of a series of free cars we'll be giving away every month as a thank you to our fans for being so patient for the launch of the game.
We'll have more info on the full schedule of further content for Project Cars soon but we hope that this is a great sneak peek of just one way in which Project Cars is going to expand in the future."

  • New Master Chief Collection Patch Coming

master chief collection april updateA new blog post has been posted by 343 Industries that details some changes that will be made to Halo: The Master Chief Collection in an upcoming patch. The new patch will be releasing in April as part of the "April Update," which will include new features to matchmaking and the game in general.

Whilst a lot of the major issues with the Master Chief Collection that were apparent at launch have now been fixed, there are still some problems with the game that 343 Industries are trying to iron out. These changes include adjustments to the different game modes across various games in the collection.

In the blog post it wrote, "Based on results and feedback, we'll be looking to update team sizes and player counts across existing and upcoming playlists, including Team Doubles, as we get closer to the next update. Lastly, SWAT and Team Snipers will both make a return into the rotation in the near future, and we'll continue to evaluate playlist data to determine which playlists become permanent additions."

The next update will also "Address a variety of issues across the game, including specific improvements to ranking, new quit and betrayal penalties, and more as we prepare to roll out ranks to additional playlists."

Whilst the full patch notes have not yet been published, 343 Industries plan to do so closer to the patch release. "We'll provide more about what's included as we get closer to the release of the CU." 343 said, "As always, full patch notes will be released once the CU becomes available."

  • Rainbow Six Siege Beta Registration Available

rainbow six siege betaIf you're interested in trying out the new Rainbow Six game before it is released, you may want to go and head over to the Ubisoft website, as registration for the upcoming beta has officially opened.

The beta will be available on PS4, Xbox One and PC, unlike the previous alpha test that was exclusively for PC players. Whilst there are no details on how many players will get the chance to play the Rainbow Six Siege beta, there is certainly a limited number of spaces available, and players can increase their chances by answering certain questions on the registration page.

The registration page asks players about their experience with games in the past, as well as details about their rig if they are playing on PC, and general questions you'd expect to see from a closed beta registration.

Whilst this is an option for players to try Rainbow Six Siege without buying the game, players can also pre-order to get 100% guaranteed access into the beta. So far, no details have been given on when the beta test will happen, how long it will last for, and whether it will be only beta or if it will be the first in a series of betas.

Just like the beta launch date, the actual release of Rainbow Six Siege is not yet set in stone, but it's likely that the upcoming alpha and beta tests will help Ubisoft to determine how long they'll need to finish up the game ready for release.

  • Two Trailers released for Halo 5

halo 5 two trailersTwo new live action teaser trailers have been released for Halo 5, and they delve a little bit into what we can expect from the campaign in the upcoming game from 343 Industries. A lot of fans have been going pretty mad over the new trailers, and it's now very clear that Halo 5: Guardians is going to have a very dramatic twist to what we know of the Halo universe.

Both trailers depict the same scene, although one trailer shows it from the perspective of Agent Locke, a spartan that we have learned will be playable in Halo 5. The other trailer shows the scene from the perspective of the Master Chief.

In the first trailer, we see Agent Locke walking towards a battle-worn Master Chief. Locke talks a little about how the Master Chief was seen as a savior, but how he then lead to cause chaos and disaster. The trailer ends with Locke pointing a Magnum towards a weak, unresponsive Chief.

In the other instance of the trailer, the roles are reversed, and we can see the Master Chief towering over a weak Agent Locke instead.

Halo 5: Guardians will allow players to play as both Locke and the Master Chief in different scenarios. We've seen a system like this before used in Halo 2, but this is the first time that both characters could end up meeting in such a dramatic fashion.

Whilst some fans have suggested that the trailers may be hinting at a possible multi-choice ending for Halo 5: Guardians, I believe the trailer simply shows that both characters will have their own story for players to follow. They may meet together at some stage, and it won't look pretty.

  • Only God of War 3 Will Get PS4 Remaster

god of war 3 remaster 3

Earlier in the month, Sony announced that they will be releasing a remastered version of God of War 3 for the PlayStation 4.

The remastered version will have a 1080p resolution and will play on the PlayStation 4 at 60 frames per second. The game has been mentioned to cost $40, and it will release on July 14.

Because of the sudden announcement, many players have wondered with Sony will plan to release other God of War games on the PlayStation 4. Thankfully, Sony Santa Monica have responded, giving us details on their future plans for the franchise.

Sony Santa Monica's Aaron Kaufman explained a little about God of War remasters in a new blog post on the PlayStation blog. "Remasters often help us open the door to new players who perhaps did not play God of War 3 5 years ago, but who we can bring it to on the PlayStation 4."

"People often forget, the more players we can bring into a franchise, the better for everyone. At Santa Monica Studio, we'd like as many PlayStation fans to experience our games as possible, from generation to generation."

Despite their positivity towards remastered games, Kaufman ended with, "No plans for others in the franchise to bring over."

Even if we don't see any more remastered versions of the God of War games on the PlayStation 4, it'd still be great to see God of War 3. Sony Santa Monica are also working on another game which we know nothing about, other than the fact that it will apparently be "freaking huge."

  • Details Revealed for Wolfenstein The Old Blood

wolfenstein the old bloodThis week Bethesda has straight up announced a brand new prequel to Wolfenstein the New Order. The prequel will be a standalone game, as opposed to DLC content, and it has been named Wolfenstein: The Old Blood.

As with The New Order, The Old Blood will put players in the shoes of B.J. Blazkowics as he fights his way through the game's Nazi antagonists. In the first mission, players will find themselves in Castle Wolfenstein, and they will be instructed to kill a maniacal prison warden.

The second mission will then take place in Wilfburg, where B.J. Blazkowics will come face to face with "obsessed Nazi archaeologist" who is exhuming mysterious artifacts that threaten to unleash a dark and ancient power.

The standalone prequel will only include the two missions listed above, so it's definitely a very short experience, so it's odd that Bethesda did not decide to offer it as part of an expansion to The New Order.

Wolfenstein The Old Blood is set to release on May 5, 2015 as a digital download for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The game will cost $20. PlayStation 4 and PC retail copies of the game will be releasing one week after the digital launch, but there seems to be no plans to launch a retail copy for Xbox One. Do you think it's fair for Bethesda to offer a standalone expansion like this at a large portion of the cost of a full game?

  • More News About Mass Effect 4; Release 2016

mass effect 4 release 2016Thanks to Chris Wynn, senior development director at Bioware for Mass Effect, we now have a collection of new details about the development of the latest Mass Effect title.

Perhaps the most interesting tweet from Chris Wynn is the one that mentions their progress on combat and biotics. In Wynn's tweet, it read "Combat is looking pretty great in the latest builds. Biotics plus weapons plus powerful hardware is amazing."

In other news, Shinobi602, a well known industry insider and leakster talked a little bit about the potential release date of the new Mass Effect game.

"From people I've talked to close to the thing, it's still a 2016 release but haven't yet nailed down deciding between Spring or Fall. EA usually has multiple high-profile releases every year, and with Battlefield 5 targeting Q4 2016, for now until I hear more, I'm assuming earlier than Fall is the target. They did however release NFS Rivals and BF4 at the same time, so it could still be the Fall. Of course, delays are always possible with any game, but this thing's been in development since 2012. It won't skip next year."

Of course, this information can't be taken as gospel, but Shinobi602 is usually very good at getting details right, and it would make sense that Mass Effect would be released in 2016.

If this is the case, does that mean we might see something about the new Mass Effect at E3? It is completely possible, but all we can do for now is wait and see.

  • New Details on The Witcher 3 Revealed

details on the witcher 3Thanks to a preview feature from a German magazine and a bunch of translators over at the NeoGaf forums, we now have a bunch more details about the Wither 3 in anticipation for it's launch.

There is so much information to go through, so we'll list some of the biggest reveals from the magazine. Firstly, the feature suggests that there will be two large cities, Novigrad and Oxenfurt, both of which will be bustling with life.

No Man's Land will feature 25 smaller towns and cities, and some of these will be around the same size of Flotsam from The Witcher 2.

Interestingly, the best items in The Witcher 3 must be crafted, and all equipped items will appear on Geralt in-game. Thankfully, they have gotten rid of the fist fighting quick time events, and it's been replaced with a fighting style similar to standard weapon fighting.

One quirky feature is that Geralt's beard will grow over time, and you can go to a barber to cut it's length. The HUD in The Witcher 3 will also have a lot of customization potential, and you can remove certain UI elements, and even activate audio hints.

The German magazine came across very few bugs, crashes or freezes, which is exactly what we want to hear.

The Witcher 3 will be released on May 19 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. The game has been delayed a number of times now, so it's great to finally see the release date nearing closer.
