  • Limited Edition Halo 5 Xbox one Console Planned

halo 5 xbox one consoleHalo has always been a big Xbox seller, so it's not really surprising that Microsoft and 343 Industries are planning to release a limited edition Halo 5 themed Xbox One console that will come with a copy of the upcoming game.

So far we have very few details about the limited edition Halo 5 console, although we know that it is definitely coming. The news was revealed on Twitter by Josh Holmes, the studio head for Halo 5: Guardians.

Details about the limited edition console are bound to come at some point closer to the release of Halo 5. We'll be able to find out about how much the Halo 5 themed console will cost and also what it will look like. It makes sense that the console will be available on the same day Halo 5: Guardians is, which is October 27. Pre-orders for the console should hopefully open a little earlier than October 27.

Two other limited edition versions of Halo 5: Guardians have already been confirmed, with details about those being more beefy. The first version is the $100 edition which comes with "new digital content to enhance Spartan combat and exclusive items wrapped in a uniquely designed steel book."

A much pricier $250 version is also being released. The $250 edition of Halo 5 Guardians will come with the same features as above, along with a numbered statue. Here's to wondering whether there will be an even more ultimate edition with the statue, limited edition content and the Halo 5 console.

  • Black Ops 3 Will Have Titanfall Wall Running

black ops 3 titanfallYou may have felt like Call of Duty Advanced Warfare took a few too many pages from Titanfall's book, but apparently Black Ops 3 is going to be taking some more pages. Treyarch has officially revealed some details about Black Ops 3, including information about a special wall running ability that will be in the game.

Just like in Titanfall, to wall run in Call of Duty Black Ops 3 you will need to approach a wall at an angle to begin wall running. You will have an invisible "energy" meter, and once this runs out, you will come back off of the wall and land on the ground. Leaping between walls can increase your energy meter, so you could potentially keep wall running for a lengthy period of time.

Treyarch have always been great at creating multiplayer maps, so let's hope they can create some maps that allow players to really make good use of the new wall running ability.

Call of Duty Black Ops 3 will also have a new swimming mechanic. Players will now be able to cross through any areas of deep water. When swimming, a player will be able to keep their gun in their hands, allowing them to shoot whilst swimming.

I think it would be interesting to see how Treyarch implement both the new swimming and wall running mechanics into the Black Ops 3 maps. Treyarch have the potential to turn both of these features into useful game additions, but without much effort they could just end up being not-so-useful gimmicks.

  • More Black Ops 3 Details Released, Including Supported Platforms

black ops 3 detailsIf you didn't know already, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is coming this year, and it's looking it could completely change a lot about the previous games in the franchise.

The latest trailer has released more details about Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, including a release date and the supported platforms that the game will run on. As you can expect, Black Ops 3 will only be available for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, so there will not be any support for the Xbox 360 or the PlayStation 3.

Black Ops 3 will be releasing on November 6 worldwide, but players are given the chance to play it a little earlier. If you pre-order Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 you will be given access to a multiplayer beta.

There will be a beta for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, so you'll be able to give the beta a try no matter what platform you play on. Unfortunately neither Treyarch or Activision has given a date on the multiplayer beta, but it can't be that far away considering that the full game will be released near the end of this year.

In more news it has been revealed that the multiplayer in Black Ops 3 will be undergoing some interesting changes. Players will no longer be playing as a standard soldier. Instead they will be forced to choose between certain specialists, all of which have their own unique abilities or weapon loadouts.

  • Batman Arkham Knight Will Have Interesting Character Switch Mechanic

batman arkham knightNew details have emerged about how players will play through Batman Arkham Knight. This time round, players will have access to different playable characters, and they will be able to swap between the different characters in a similar fashion to Grand Theft Auto V.

Unlike Grand Theft Auto 5, the different playable characters in Batman Arkham Knight will not be going about their own business in the world. Instead, you can switch out to any superheroes accompanying Batman at the time at the tap of a button.

This new information was revealed in a brand new trailer for Batman Arkham Knight. In the trailer, Cat woman, Robin and Night Wing are seen as characters that players can switch out to at any time. Whilst we aren't sure whether this will be the full lineup of characters, this trio of superheroes is going to be more than capable of making Batman's day just a little bit easier.

When switching to a new character in the midst of a fight, you will sometimes be able to chain together some pretty spectacular dual play combo attacks. We've seen something like this in fighting games before but this is the first time it works so flawlessly in an action game like Batman Arkham Knight.

The trailer ends with a small glimpse of Harley Quinn - if you pre-order Batman Arkham Knight before the game is released you will be able to play as her in the challenge maps.

  • Project Cars Will Have 110 Race Tracks on Launch Day

project carsSlightly Mad Studios has just released a bunch of information about Project Cars in anticipation for it's launch next month. According to the development team, Project Cars will come with 30 different locations and there will be 110 different courses spread out across these locations.

All of the locations and race tracks in Project Cars have been based on places in the real world, and from what we've seen so far Slightly Mad Studios has done a good job to replicate these locations using incredible detail.

Whilst a lot of the race tracks are unique spots, some tracks are slight variations of the same race course. For example, the Sakito circuit in Japan has four layouts including GP, National, International and Sprint. Each of these layouts count as a separate track out of the 110 tracks that will be in the base game when Project Cars launches.

It's surprising that Project Cars has been delayed so many times since it was first announced but this new information about the game comes as an extra confirmation that the latest release date is final.

Project Cars is now set to release on May 8 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Slightly Mad Studios has also talked about releasing a version for the Wii U but we have not heard anything about this for quite some time now. It's likely we may hear more about the Wii U once the launch for the other consoles has come out of the gate.

  • Mortal Kombat X 1.02 Patch Fixes Bugs

mortal kombat x 1.02For the most part Mortal Kombat X has been released without too many problems but it seems nowadays you can't have a game release without some kind of bugs or issues. Fortunately, NetherRealm Studios has been working round the clock to ensure everything is as smooth as possible.

Recently, the 1.02 patch was applied to Mortal Kombat for the PC, Xbox One and PS4 and it brings a number of changes and bug fixes to the game.

Perhaps the biggest noticeable changes to Mortal Kombat X in 1.02 are some tweaks to general gameplay and certain character’s move sets. Below the major game changes have been listed.

General - Throws (regular or command grabs) will no longer sometimes connect on a grounded reacting opponent off a counter hit

Shinnok (Impostor) - He can now control the location of a stolen Goro Stomp.

Subzero (Grandmaster) - Combos on a grounded opponent frozen by the Ice Klone will now scale properly.

Takeda (Ronin) - Added a new move "Quick Kall" (Down, Towards, Front Punch) which quickly returns a dropped blade without doing an attack.

Takeda (Shirai Ryu) – He will now always teleport to the other side when doing the Air Shirai Ryu Port

On top of the changes to gameplay, NetherRealm Studios gave out a free Klassic Sub-Zero skin to all players to say thank you for putting up with the few launch issues. The PC version also received a number of unique fixes for online lag and performance problems.

  • New Halo 5 Pre-order Trailer Released

Halo 5 pre-orderA brand new Halo 5: Guardians trailer has been released by Microsoft and GameStop showing off a set of armor that will be rewarded to players who pre-order Halo 5 from the video game retailer.

The armor will be given to anybody who pre-orders Halo 5 from any GameStop store in the United States. There hasn't been any details on how long players will have to pre-order to be eligible for the bonus but it is clear that you'll definitely need to order Halo 5 before it is released.

So far, no other retailers have given details on any pre-order bonuses, so GameStop is definitely looking like a good place to pick up Halo 5 so far. On top of the armor, players will be able to get a free poster for pre-ordering Halo 5 as well. Below, details about the bonus armor has been described.

HUNTER-Class Armor: Sophisticated and lethal, HUNTER-class armor incorporates Watershed Division's latest warfighting technology.

HUNTER-Class Helmet: Though still considered a prototype implementation, the HUNTER's sensor suite enhances situational and threat awareness.

The HUNTER-class armor is the same armor that Agent Locke wears, and it seems like players who do not pre-order will not be able to pick up the same armor. Even though the armor is most likely just cosmetic, I personally think it seems a bit unfair that some players won't be able to dress as Agent Locke in Halo 5, especially considering he will be playing a very important role in the story of Halo 5: Guardians.

  • Star Wars Battlefront Release Date Announced

star wars battlefrontA whole bunch of new information about Star Wars Battlefront has been revealed by DICE, including details about when the game is going to be released. So far, we have yet to see any true in-game footage, but a very impressive in-engine trailer was released alongside the information that DICE has shared.

First thing's first, the release date for Star Wars Battlefront has been set for an unspecified day in November. The new Battlefront game will be available for PS4, Xbox One and PC when it releases.

DICE also revealed that Battlefront will run at 60 frames per second and all local game modes will support split screen play. Unfortunately there will be no split screen support for online modes. The local mode that will support split screen play is called Missions and this is a game mode that puts human players against a team of bots. Similarly to Titanfall, Star Wars Battlefront will not have any singleplayer campaign so the Missions mode will be the only option players will have for playing offline.

Whilst DICE didn't say exactly how many maps will be available, they did state that Star Wars Battlefront will have more than 8 maps at launch, which suggests that more may come in the future as DLC. There will be four planets at launch and there will be at least two different maps per planet.

Hopefully we'll learn more about Star Wars Battlefront at E3 later this year.

  • Possible Mass Effect 4 Details Shared Online

mass effect 4 onlineAccording to a Reddit user, a bunch of information about Mass Effect 4 has been shared to select members of the public as part of an online survey. We can't confirm the legitimacy of the information the Reddit user or the survey provided, but there's definitely a lot of information to delve into.

Here is a portion of the information that the survey shared.

Premise: Set in the Helius Cluster of the Andromeda Galaxy, removed by time and space from the Mass Effect "Commander Shepard" trilogy and its ending. Play as a "Pathfinder" explorer leading expedition with the aim of establishing new home for humanity. Encounter "savage untamed lands", "cut-throat outlaws", and "warring alien races" in an effort to survive and colonies. Andromeda is home to a mysterious alien race, the Remnants, who've left their vaults and ancient technology throughout.

Game Objective: Explore 100s of solar systems (over 4x size of Mass Effect 3) collecting resources, developing your ship, crew, and arsenal, while engaging in diplomacy in order to set up colonies, while discovering the mystery behind the Remnants and racing to secure their technology.

New Species: Remnants, an ancient race who've left ruins and technology throughout the galaxy. And Khet, seemingly antagonistic.

Squadmates: Same as previous games: make friends, take two with you on missions. Cora is able to generate biotic shields you can fire out of. Drack is a Krogan.

Loyalty Missions: Same as previous games: complete to unlock increased loyalty and new skill tree for that character. Example: Krogan colony ship has been stolen by outlaws. Track down the ship and return it to increase loyalty with Drack. Dialogue trees and end game impacted by loyalty status.

Dialogue: "Meaningful choices". Deeper control over responses, such as interrupting conversation. Action based choices are physical choices to shape the course of conversation, such as pulling out a weapon and forcing them to open a door instead of attempting to do so purely via conversation.

If you would like to read up on all of the information for yourself, you can check out the survey information that the Reddit user posted. Here is a link. I'd love for this information to be true, it all sounds pretty interesting, but we can only wait and see. It's also important to take into consideration that the development of Mass Effect 4 is still in it's early stages - if any of this information is true, it may change before the game is released.

  • Goat Simulator is Now On Xbox One

goat simulator xbox oneHave you got some change to spare? If you do, you might want to throw it at Coffee Stain Studio's genius creation/abomination Goat Simulator. The hilarious bug filled game has now made it's way to the Xbox One and Xbox 360.

Whilst Coffee Stain Studios weren't in charge of the port, more than capable Double Eleven has managed to bring it to the Xbox platform without changing anything that broke away from that special Goat Simulation experience the PC version offered.

As you can imagine, Goat Simulator can only be picked up from the Xbox Store as a digital download. The game currently costs $9.99 for Xbox One and the Xbox 360. The objective of Goat Simulator is to take control of a goat and use his strangely sticky tongue to attach to objects and destroy the world around him.

The game is perhaps the most random non-game like monstrosity you'll ever lay your eyes on, and plenty of physics bugs have been left in the game to make it even more of a laugh to play through.

If you aren't so sure you'll be interested in Goat Simulator don't worry about picking it up just yet, the game has already seen plenty of sales on other platforms so I wouldn't be surprised if Double Eleven's port will be featured in some kind of sale in the future. Goat Simulator is better considered as a fun arcade that can be picked up for a fun afternoon indoors.
