  • Overwatch Nerfs and Buffs Coming

overwatch-roadhog-nerfAfter what felt like a lifetime, Roadhog is finally getting a nerf, and other heroes are getting changes too.

The times of Roadhog's overpowered hook are soon to be over - Blizzard has announced that they plan to nerf the big pig in Overwatch, and they also have a number of other balancing changes planned for the near future.

The new changes don't focus on cooldown time or damages, but instead add more of a skill curve to the hook ability. In simple terms, Roadhog players will need to practice a little bit to get good with using the hook. Blizzard think the hook should be a high risk high, reward play and it's slowly leaning towards that.

"There is a cap on how far 'to the side' you can be pulled, so you can't just hook someone, spin 180, and dump someone off a cliff," principal designer Geoff Goodman mentioned.

"There is a new persistent line-of-sight check back to Roadhog once the hook has landed. If this check fails, the hook breaks off and returns to Roadhog." This means players will need to keep their line of sight locked onto another player to ensure the hook connects.

These changes will first make their way to the public test realm, potentially alongside other nerfs and buffs.

  • Mass Effect Andromeda Gameplay Hitting January 4

mass-effect-andromedaWe've got big news for any Mass Effect Andromeda fans out there.

It's been confirmed that a gameplay showing for Mass Effect Andromeda will take place on January 4 at NVIDIA's CES Keynote. We're not sure what sort of gameplay will be showcased, although a small description alongside the announcement mentioned that the game environments and some gameplay will be shown.

By this logic, it may make sense that we'll be getting a look at the scale of the universe in Mass Effect Andromeda and a close look at the environments on each world. Whilst this is mostly speculation, it would also make sense considering that the event is being hosted by NVIDIA. It may also be possible that NVIDIA will be announcing some of their own new products at the CES Keynote, especially in regards to PC gaming.

While the Mass Effect Andromeda gameplay shown at the CES event may be broadcasted from a PC, it'll still be a great look at what the game will have to offer on other platforms as well.

This isn't the first time gameplay for Mass Effect Andromeda has been shown. Last month, a near-five minute 4K video was released by Bioware that showed some of the gameplay mechanics for Mass Effect Andromeda and also some of the kind of environments players can look forward to.

While it isn't set in stone, the release date for Mass Effect Andromeda is currently slated for Spring 2017.

  • Surprising Win at 2GGT ZeRo Saga

2ggt-zero-sagaAfter an incredible performance from ZeRo this year, it was a surprise to see that a player managed to outperform him in an event sporting ZeRo's name.

Funnily enough, this wasn't the first time ZeRo has lost at his own event. In fact, every event in the past that has included ZeRo in the title has seen ZeRo fail at getting a win.

This particular event was 2GGT ZeRo Saga, and it saw some of the best Smash players across the globe fight it out for a $10,000 prize. Whilst it was surprising to ZeRo not take the win, it was perhaps even more surprising to see the actual winner.

MKLeo managed to take the grand prize after fighting his way through, Larry Lur, VoiD and plenty of other players. In fact, Leo originally found himself in the loser's bracket earlier in the tournament. It wasn't until MKLeo beat ZeRo in the loser's finals that he saw himself in the grand finals against Larry Lur.

MKLeo took the first set of matches in an impressive fashion with a 3-1 score line. However, with MKLeo coming from the loser's bracket, he had to face up against Lur for another time. The fight was close, but MKLeo managed to just peel away with a 3-2 score.

This win makes it MKLeo's first ever on an international stage and it's also the first time MKLeo has defeated ZeRo. For those maybe unaware of this new and upcoming player, MKLeo is just 15 years old, and after this latest event it's clear he has plenty of potential.

  • For Honor Collector's Edition Announced

for-honor-collectors-editionA For Honor Collector's Edition is going available for sale - the news has been announced after a listing for the collector's edition was found on GameStop's online store.

The collector's edition is currently on GameStop for a price of $219.99. Whilst this is an expensive price tag, especially for new IP, the collector's edition does include quite a lot of content. The $219.99 version of For Honor has been nicknamed the Apollyon Collector's Edition so make sure to search for that if you're interested in learning more.

Firstly, the Apollyon Collector's Edition includes the gold version of the For Honor game. (essentially the base game with included season pass).

The Collector's Edition also includes a 14 inch statue of Apollyon. The description on the GameStop listing for the statue reads as follows: "Standing at over a foot tall, this highly-detailed statue features an accurate reproduction of Apollyon, For Honor's main Warlord."

A lithograph (basically a re-print) of Apollyon has also been included in the Collector's Edition. Interestingly, the description for the Apollyon lithograph includes a description which reads, "The Warlord of the Blackstone Legion seeks to bring war to her enemies in this exclusive Limited Edition Lithograph."

On top of the statue and the artwork, a note has been included with the package, which, according to the store listing, will reveal more information about Apollyon.

Obviously the biggest selling point for the Collector's Edition is the 14 inch statue, but the added lithograph and note are nice to see, too.

  • Armada Wins UGC Smash Melee

armada-smash-meleeUGC Smash Open has now ended and after an unsurprising win from ZeRo in the Smash 4 camp, Armada has now taken another victory in Smash Melee.

The event took place during the start of the month and while there were a few exciting matchups in the tournament, nobody was surprised to see Armada take the win.

However, something that was surprising was the incredible performance by Mew2King which saw him hastily make his way to the grand finals only after losing a single match earlier against n0ne. After his first defeat, Mew2king ripped through Duck, Ice, SFAT, Leffen and even favorites to place in the grand finals; Mang0 and Hungrybox.

In the grand finals, Mew2King even managed to defeat Armada with an impressive 3-1 scoreline. However, because Mew2King dropped to the loser's bracket, he still had another 3 wins needed to take the grand final. This then saw Armada turn the tables completely and beat Mew2King in true comeback fashion with a 3-1 score for himself.

For taking the tournament, Armada will be walking home with roughly $7,000 in prize winnings. We have to give credit to Mew2King's amazing performance so far. We can't wait to see what Mew2King may have up his sleeves next year. He's certainly been a top performer this year and with a bit of extra dedication he has the potential to take a top spot in some of next year's events. Bring on 2017!

  • ZeRo Takes UGC Smash Open Win

zero-ugc-openZeRo has been at the top of his game for far too long, and his top form has given him another win at the Smash 4 event at UGC Open.

Whilst ZeRo took the win, he didn't get away with the prize as easily as he had done earlier in the year. This is the fifth win ZeRo has had in a row now, but the close 3-2 victory at UGC almost threw ZeRo's chances of beating his 52 win streak down the drain.

If you've been following the Smash Open scene for a while now, 2016 has perhaps been the best chance competitors have had at beating ZeRo. This is especially true in Abadango's case, who fought against ZeRo in the UGC Open Smash 4 grand final.

Earlier in the tournament, ZeRo took a clean 3-0 win against Abadango, which pushed him straight into the loser's bracket. Abadango managed to closely fight his way back into the grand finals though, and the 3-2 defeat was the closest any player had come to taking a game win from ZeRo at the UGC Open.

Previously ZeRo managed to beat Mr. E, Mr. R and Pink Fresh, only losing 4 rounds between these three matches. The UGC win helped ZeRo to bag a grand total of $6,808 in cash.

With 2016 nearing an end, has the window of opportunity to beat ZeRo to the ground been diminished? Will ZeRo top his old 52 win streak in 2017 or will we see more chances for other players to fight to the top?

  • Capcom Cup 2016 Results

capcom-cup-2016-resultsThe Capcom Cup 2016 Finals have come to an end and we the grand final results have come in!

If you don't want to be hit with spoilers, make sure to come back to this page after checking out the Capcom Cup previous broadcasts over on Twitch.

Unsurprisingly, the majority of the top 8 players in the Capcom Pro Tour Finals were from Japan. While 6 Japan players made it to the top 8, a surprising American duo managed to make it into the finals as well. In fact, one of those USA players went on to finish in first place at the grand finals.

That player is Team Liquid's NuckleDu, who in the past year, has had not much success with getting a first place finish in an international event. With NuckleDu's great performances with Guile and R.Mika, we're happy to say he definitely deserved the win.

In second place was the second USA player, which was Evil Geniuses' Ricki Ortiz, who has always specialized with her Chun-Li playstyle. Despite the international stage, this was Ortiz third event with a second place or higher standing in 2016.

Kazunoko managed to hit a third place ranking, whilst Haitani took fourth, and Fuudo and MOV hit fifth together. Finally Yukadon and Go1 got a tied 7th placing. Below are the standings for the other 24 players.

9th: Xiao Hai, Luffy, Xian, Phenom
13th: Daigo Umehara, Mister Crimson, Eita, Filipino Champ
17th: Mago, Sako, Samurai, DR Ray, Momochi, GamerBee, K-Brad, HumanBomb
