As of the first of May, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 was officially confirmed and its trailer was released officially to the public during the NBA playoffs (though it was leaked earlier through proxies in its UK site but that was taken care of in its early stages).

FPSRussia Teases COD with an Explosive Video

While the next Call of Duty teaser site still counts down to its May 1st unveiling, Activision finds other ways to tease the next COD title. Using the gun-totting obviously-using-a-fake-Russian-accent Youtube celebrity FPSRussia (formerly named FPSKyle), they managed to show us one of the new weapons in the upcoming Call of Duty game. In his newest video, FPSRussia demonstrates a "Prototype Quadrotor," and uses the attached machine gun to shoot down and blow up some stuff.

The Japanese COD: Elite Service is Cancelled Due to Localization Issues

Unfortunate news for Japanese FPS fans, it seems that the Japanese version of Call of Duty: Elite will not be available. The online service was cancelled due to localization issues, according to some news from Kotaku and Square Enix, COD's publisher in Japan.
According to Square Enix and Activision, they worked really hard to get localized versions of Elite released in territories like Japan but kept getting stuck in issues about localization. The biggest problem for Modern Warfare 3 in Japan was that the game was available in a subtitled version [...]

Call of Duty Might Be Slowing Down in its Sales

For some time now, it was very common to see that the new Call of Duty game would always outsell the last one. But things might have changed. As of this year, Modern Warfare 3 has sold less copies than the last Call of Duty title, Black Ops.
According to this news at Kotaku, analysts at Macquarie Equities have been tracking internal sales figures for the series for some time now. They recently have noticed that copies of MW3 are trailing sales of Black Ops by "around 4.2 percent".

Robert Bowling Leaves Infinity Ward

News from Joystiq reports that the creative strategist for the Call of Duty franchise, Robert Bowling, has recently left Infinity Ward and Activision. Robert "FourZeroTwo" Bowling, announced his resignation on his Twitter.
This is resignation came out of the blue and was a surprise to many. This is due to the fact that Bowling stayed at Infinity Ward even during massive departure of its staff, which many of them then later regrouped to create Respawn Entertainment.
