  • Sony Getting Sued for Misleading 1080P Claims

sony sued killzoneRemember when the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One were leading up to be released? A lot of talk in the industry revolved around screen resolution for launch titles, and fan boys fought over resolutions and frame rates like it actually mattered.

Unfortunately, both Microsoft and Sony weren't 100% honest about the frame rates and resolutions the launch games were going to offer, and it looks as if that little bit of bending the truth has landed Sony in a bit of trouble.

According to reports, one individual has just sued Sony for a total of $5 million after declaring that one of the PlayStation 4's launch titles, Killzone: Shadow Fall would support a native 1080P resolution.

Truthfully, the 1080P resolution in Killzone Shadow Fall isn't native at all. Whilst the single player did prove to be native 1080P, the multiplayer had a stretched resolution; the screen did display 1080 pixels high, but it only showed 960 pixels wide - the display was then stretched width ways to fit the right dimensions to match full HD.

Whilst it's true that Killzone Shadow Fall isn't being constantly played at native 1080P, it seems like a bit of an odd thing for someone to sue for. Unfortunately, it's all very real for Sony, and it shows that not being honest when marketing new games is not something to take lightly.

So far, nothing is definite, but if the lawsuit against Sony can prove that Sony falsely advertised Killzone's resolution and benefited off of doing so, Sony may have to cough up $5.4 million.

  • More Darksiders Games May Come From Gunfire Games

new darksidersCrytek have been undergoing a lot of pressure recently, but the former CEO for the USA division of the company, David Adams, has revealed plans to keep marching on through the video games industry.

David Adams has recently established a new independent development studio by the name of Gunfire Games, and with various assets acquired at Crytek, we may even see some familiar franchises being revived from the newly formed Gunfire Games.

At this point in time, everything is still early days though, especially considering Adams only left Crytek just three weeks ago amidst claims about Crytek's financial troubles.

If Gunfire Games grows into a fully fledged development studio, Adams has revealed that they have put some consideration into working on a new Darksiders title, and would think more about creating a game within the franchise. Gunfire Games have already approached Nordic Games, the owner and publisher of the franchise IP, so we may be hearing more about Darksiders in the near future.

It's important to note that everything is til in idea phase at this point. David Adams himself stated, "That is one of the options we are exploring," when asked about a new Darksiders game. "But we don't want to jump into something immediately. We want to weigh our options.

Nordic Games has already revealed that they are currently looking for a creative team to take the reigns of the Darksiders franchise in the future, so it's very likely something will come of the series in the future, whether it's from Gunfire Games or not.

  • New August Xbox Live Games With Gold Announced

xbox live games with gold augustWe've just rolled into a new month, and that means it's time to talk about the next Xbox Live Games with Gold lineup. We've got quite a few treats in store this week, including some Xbox 360 retail titles, as well as a couple digital-based Xbox One games.

Firstly, Xbox One owners with Xbox Gold will be able to treat themselves with Crimson Dragon, an Xbox exclusive that saw itself as one of the few available Xbox One launch titles the day the console was released. Crimson Dragon is an indirect sequel to Panzer Dragoon, a game that made it's rounds on the Original Xbox many years ago. Crimson Dragon will be available all the way throughout the month.

Alongside Crimson Dragon, Xbox Live gold subscribers will be able to get their hands on Strike Suit Zero: Director's Cut, which made it to reality after successfully being backed on Kickstarter. Both Xbox One games are available till August 31st.

As for the Xbox 360, players will be able to pick up Motocross Madness, a Trials lookalike till August 15th, whilst later on in the month, Dishonored will be available from August 16th till August 31st.

All of these games are still fairly new, so Microsoft are being pretty generous with month's round of Xbox Live free Gold games. This is possibly one of the best months we've seen since the Xbox Live Games with Gold loyalty reward program began.

  • August 11 Reveal Planned for Advanced Warfare Multiplayer

advanced warfare multiplayerThe next game in the Call of Duty franchise has been revealed to be Advanced Warfare, a title that will be solely developed by the series's third developer, Sledgehammer Games, for the first time.

So far, we have been treated with a wide range of teasers and content reveals for the story and setting for Advanced Warfare, but our multiplayer taste buds have not yet been touched. However, that is about to change, because Sledgehammer Games have revealed their plans to showcase the multiplayer in Advanced Warfare at Gamescom 2014, on August 11th.

The brand new multiplayer gameplay reveal for Call of Duty Advanced Warfare will be in Microsoft's hands, and Major Nelson has revealed that he and the creators of the next COD title will be ready to show off multiplayer content of the game soon.

As well as showing off the content to those attending Gamescom 2014, Microsoft will be streaming the whole event on Xbox Live for the world to see. Along with gameplay content, Microsoft has said to be giving live interviews with some of the developers who are working on Call of Duty Advanced Warfare, so we can expect to learn a lot more about the new game later this month on August 11th.

We're hoping that Advanced Warfare will have enough to bring back the old Call of Duty crowd, many of which felt that the latest game in the franchise, Ghosts, was a big let down.

If you are excited for this release than you will be excited to hear that Evil Controllers has the Master Mod® for the Xbox One! These custom controllers can only be found at: www.EvilControllers.com

  • Call of Duty Ghosts New DLC Videos Released

Call of Duty Nemesis DLCActivision has just released a brand new set of gameplay video trailers showing off the latest DLC for Call of Duty Ghosts, which has been named 'Nemesis.'

The new Nemesis DLC pack for Call of Duty Ghosts will feature three brand new maps to the game, along with a brand new co-op mission for the Extinction game mode, and a remake of a map from a previous Call of Duty game. The Nemesis pack will be released on Xbox One and Xbox 360 this week, whilst other consoles and the PC version of Call of Duty Ghosts will get it some time next month.

As mentioned before, one of the four new Call of Duty Ghosts maps in the Nemesis DLC pack will be a re-imagining of a map previously used in an older Call of Duty Games. The remade map will be Shipment, a level that was seen in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

Shipment has been known for it's small size, and it currently holds the record for the smallest map in the whole history of Call of Duty. For the other three maps, players can watch the brand new gameplay reveal trailers to get an idea of what they can expect when playing the new DLC.

Like other DLC packs for Call of Duty Ghosts, Nemesis can be purchased for $14.99 and is free for season pass holders. Nemesis will be the final DLC pack for Ghosts before Advanced Warfare releases later this year.

  • 24 Minutes of Rainbow Six Siege Gameplay Shown

rainbow six siege gameplayIt's great when developers release full, unedited gameplay content instead of sending out scripted CGI trailers for their upcoming games, and this is exactly what Ubisoft have done with Rainbow Six Siege by releasing a 24 minute video of the game in action.

Within the 24 minutes, two full games of hostage rescue are played out, allowing viewers to get a good understanding of the game and what sets it apart from other current FPS games.

At the start of each Hostage Rescue game in the 24 minute video, players begin with a construction phase. For the criminal team, the construction phase involves reinforcing a certain building, whilst the Rainbow Six team must use their time to view the area via remote controlled drones.

After the game starts up, you'll see some pretty interesting gameplay from the Rainbow Six team, and I think that a lot of gamers will be drawn in by this. In Rainbow Six Siege, it looks like team strategy, communication and tactics will come in much more handy than a fast trigger reflexes, and I think that's a refreshing change for the FPS genre.

Whilst a lot of previous Rainbow Six games have put focus into the single player experience, Siege is looking to be a very enjoyable multiplayer game, too. Producer of the project, Sebastian Labbe recently stated, "What I can say is that for sure, we're no different from the other online shooters. We want to be online - we're providing a strong PVP game, and if we want that we need to create a community. So if we wait until the launch, I expect it will be too late," suggesting that a beta for Siege is currently being planned out.

Rainbow Six Siege is set for release in 2015 for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

  • Diablo 3 is Coming to Xbox One

diablo 3Blizzard has confirmed that Diablo 3 will be coming to the Xbox One, amidst concerns that the game has not given a proper introduction to players using Xbox consoles. Lead producer for Diablo 3, Alex Mayberry stated in an interview with VideoGamer that, "I don't know where we are with Microsoft right now so I can't really comment on what that contract looks like. The point is we are developing for Xbox One and PS4 simultaneously. We hit those major platforms and then our goal as a development team is to make them run."

"We have that pipeline worked out, and then Blizzard and Microsoft can work out whatever they work out."

Many fans have been interested in a Diablo 3 for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, especially seeing as the first expansion pack for the title, Reaper of Souls, was released earlier this week for PC and Mac.

Blizzard has also confirmed that there will be a bundle pack for the PlayStation 4 which will be named the Ultimate Evil Edition - this bundle will come with Diablo 3 and the Reaper of Souls expansion. It's possible that there could be an Xbox One version of this bundle pack in the works too.

For now though, players will have to put up with playing the latest expansion on a PC or Mac if they are eager to play it as soon as possible. The PlayStation 4 won't be too long away though, either.

  • Sony Says PS3 "Tough Learning" From PS3 Helped Realize PS4

From the moment, PlayStation 4 was revealed it was obvious that Sony had learned from all their past mistakes made with the PlayStation 3. Although obvious, this observation was supported by what SCE CEO Andrew House had to say.

138In a recent interview with MCV UK, House admitted the rough ride Sony went through during the early release of the PS3. But they didn't just try to deal with the problems, the learned from them. The valuable feedback that they received from the community is what they used:

"Anyone can point out how those learnings have translated into the decisions we've made around PS4 -- selection of architecture, emphasis on ease of development, understanding PS4 had to be a highly connected and social experience. These were products of some tough learning we did on PS3."

The results were obvious. In many ways the PS4 is the polar opposite to the PS3. It launched at $400 ($200 less than the PS3), made with off-the-shelf PC components which makes it easy for developers to code for, and Sony worked hard to make the console available worldwide. And it has paid off, currently selling more than 2 million units since launch. What more will Sony do? I can’t wait to see it go above and beyond anything the PS3 was ever capable of.

  • GTA V To Get A Next-Gen Version?

GTA V Story DLCWell I bet this question was on the minds of several gamers, and might even have been sought by many. We already got both versions for several games including Call of Duty Ghosts and Assassin's Creed 4, so would it really be surprising to get a next gen port for GTA 5?

I mean no official news has been announced yet, and maybe even Rockstar is assessing the situation but we all thought at a point that GTA5 might be released for the next gen consoles. A big reason why a lot of us actually still hold on to our current games is also the fact that GTA5 was released on them.

During a recent interview with Lazlow, one the franchise mainstays, he responded to the question about whether gamers would see GTA5 on the next gen consoles. To this he responded with, "[they] haven't announced anything yet" followed by a wink which Lazlow explained was just a momentary reaction to a "seizure."

I mean at a point it is sort of inevitable. The new consoles already have quite a pretty decent userbase which will only increase. It is a matter of time before we will see GTA5 there, so the real question ends up being, when? Check out the interview for yourself from the link below.
