Wii U

  • ZombiU Will be Coming to Xbox One and PS4

Thanks to a new listing on an Australian Ratings Board, we've managed to find out that the exclusive Wii U title, ZombiU, might just be coming to the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4. As you'd expect, the 'U' in the ZombiU has been dropped, and the cross platform version will just be called Zombi.

The ZombiU game did look very promising, and the poor Wii U sales have lead the game to get little traction, despite it being quite a decent game, so it makes sense that the developers are trying to bring the game to other platforms. It would make sense that porting ZombiU to other platforms would be a little more difficult than porting a non-Wii U title, simply because of the various game controls and Wii U mechanics ZombiU takes advantage of.

It may be a while before we hear anything official about a PlayStation 4 and Xbox One version of Zombi, but it's very likely it will be coming. The same Australian Ratings Board has been very on point with these kinds of listings in the past, and many games have been discovered early thanks to its listings.

The fact that the game has now reached a ratings board suggests that development for the ported version has already somewhat began, but there is unfortunately no way of knowing just how far the ZombiU developers have gotten with the port until an official announcement is made. So far Ubisoft has not commented on the ported version of ZombiU but we'll let you know as soon as we hear something.

  • Smash Bros Will Get MewTwo as Free DLC

Smash Bros MewTwoWhilst all of the main characters for Smash Bros have now been revealed, Nintendo still have plans to add more characters to the roster in the future in the form of DLC.

The first character to get the Nintendo DLC treatment has been revealed to be MewTwo. This is a character that hasn't been in the franchise since Smash Bros Melee, so I think there's a lot of excitement for MewTwo.

MewTwo will be offered for free to those who buy both the 3DS version of Smash Bros and the Wii U version of the game. Whilst he is still in development at this point in time, MewTwo should be made available at some point in Spring 2015.

Whilst he's been mentioned as a DLC character, no word has yet been given on whether MewTwo will be made available for those who do not buy both versions of the game, although the word DLC does suggest that he will be put up for sale for those not willing to splash out on both the 3DS and the Wii U version of the game.

There's been a lot of new news about the upcoming Smash Bros games recently. On top of the announcement of the free MewTwo DLC promotion, Nintendo recently announced a brand new 8-player Smash mode which will be in the franchise for the first time ever.

Whilst the game is available in some regions, the Wii U version will be available on November 21st for North America and December 5th for Europe.

  • Warner Bros. Working to Fix Batman Arkham Origins Save Issues

After an increasing number of reports about save game bugs and issues, Warner Bros. has made an official statement giving information on a variety of Batman: Arkham Origins problems that they are aware of.

In the official statement, Warner Bros. has listed all of the bugs and issues, however they have not yet made a fix for "rare" corrupted save problems, and it's unlikely that those who have encountered this bug will be able to get their saved content back.

"We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused and thank you all for your patience as we work to resolve the issues," Warner Bros. said in its statement.

The list of bugs includes both small issues like occasional crashing and freezing and more serious game breaking problems like corrupted save files and bugs that stop players from being able to access and play the story mode.

Although Warner Bros. haven't released any information on how to avoid these bugs from happening, they have mentioned a few times in their statement that they are working hard on ironing out game breaking bugs and plan to send out fixes via patches that will be made a necessity to be able to play the game once they've been made available on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The full statement can be read below.

    Known Issues

    • 1) Infinite Falling/Falling Out Of World - All platformsSome players have been stuck in an endless loop of falling, making it impossible to complete certain missions and progress through the single-player campaign. We believe we have identified the issue and are currently testing the software update, which will push most players back to their previous save so that they will not be stuck in an infinite loop.
    • 2) Unable To Continue Story - All PlatformsSome players can see their story progress in the main menu, but once they choose the story slot they don't see an option to "Continue" and only "New Game" shows up. This issue should be resolved and the "Continue" option will once again be available.

      3) FreeFlow Focus mode not unlocking upon reaching "Shadow Vigilante" rank 3 will be fixed - All Platforms

Specific to the PC, an update that addresses the above issues, as well as the following, recently went live:

    • Fix for progression blocker keeping some players from navigating through the vent in the Burnley tower.

We have not yet solved the following rare issues and are continuing to investigate.

    • Corrupted Saves - Xbox 360 onlyPlayers have reported losing their saved game to data corruption. Specifically, when you try to choose a story slot to continue, it says "Corrupted" and if you select it, an error message appears which says, "The save is corrupt. Please delete it." We believe we know what is causing this and need a few more days to validate before pushing a patch through.
    • 2) Ongoing Crashing/Freezing Issues - Xbox 360 onlyPlayers have reported recurring crashing and freezing while playing the game. We have been working hard to track down and resolve the problem as quickly as possible. We believe we know what is causing these issues and need a few more days to validate before pushing this patch through. In the meantime, some players have managed to avoid the freezing by disconnecting their console from the Internet while playing.
  • Injustice: Gods among Us Ultimate Edition for PS4 and Current Gen Consoles Revealed

Despite not being released that long ago, Warner Bros. has unveiled the new Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition this week.

The Ultimate Edition will include all of the current available DLC, along with a copy of the original game.

The Ultimate Edition will also have a wider release than the original version, and will be available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 4. The release dates have been set for November 12 in North America and November 19 in Europe.

The extra content will include previously added characters such as Batgirl, General Zod, Zatanna, and Martian Manhunter.

There isn't any information on any improvements for the PlayStation 4 version, and it seems as if Warner Bros. have not taken the opportunity to release it for Xbox One.

The PS Vita version will be a slightly downgraded version to the console version, however the development studio behind the handheld port, Armature, is putting a lot of effort into making the PS Vita version as similar as the current gen versions as possible.

The game will be available for $60 on consoles, and $40 on the PS Vita.

  • Soulcaliber II HD Online Announced for 2013 Release

Namco Bandai have taken to this year's San Diego Comic-con to announce the release of their new HD remake for Soulcaliber II.

A trailer has been shown to highlight the differences between the original game that was released for Xbox, PlayStation 2 and Gamecube, and the new HD remake that will be making it's way to Xbox 360 and PS3 later this year.

The new Soulcaliber II HD Online will have a brand new online multiplayer system allowing players to battle with others online, and will have a newly remastered graphical update to better suit today's hardware.

The trailer has shown footage of Hehachi from Tekken, a guest character in the original game, however footage of Link from Zelda and Todd Mcfarlane's Spawn was not in the footage, giving many the assumption that these two characters won't be making an appearance in Soulcaliber II HD Online.

A lot of angry Wii U owners have vented their frustration online, stating that there should be a Wii U version that includes Link as a playable character.

It's unlikely Namco Bandai will bring out a Wii U version, however the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions will be launched this Fall, 2013.

  • New Assassins' Creed Black Flag Gameplay Video Shown

I was pleasantly surprised as I watched the new Assassins' Creed: Black Flag gameplay video. The video features 7 minutes of gameplay footage as a narrator explains to the viewer what there is to be done in the new upcoming Assassins' Creed.

Personally I've been getting quite bored of the franchise, and when Ubisoft announced that they had plans to release a new AC game yearly, I couldn't believe what I was hearing. AC began as a series that was new and refreshing, but we saw that trying to reuse the same gameplay mechanics again and again just didn't work, even if the stories were quite compelling.

I was quite happy to see that the new Black Flag game actually looked quite good in this new gameplay video.

The gameplay shows off plenty of features involved with the high seas. We already know that the new game is pirate themed, but you may be surprised to see just how much of the game actually involves pirate shenanigans. In AC4: Black Flag, players will have their own pirate ship which will accompany them through the game. Players will be able to attack other ships for supplies, raid cities or guard towers, and build upon their crew and upgrade their ship.

There is of course a lot of the on-foot action we've seen in previous Assassins' Creed games, but this one seems to have enough of a new change to make things exciting again, at least for me.

The gameplay video also shows a few snippets of the map, and at first glance, we can see that the new game world will be quite large, giving players a lot of room to play in.

Current gen versions of AC4: Black Flag will arrive on November 1st for Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii U.  PS4 and Xbox One versions will be out shortly after.

  • Play as Mortal Kombat's Scorpion on Injustice June 11

Injustice: Gods Among Us has a new DLC pack planned that will allow players to play as Scorpion from Mortal Kombat.

The character is represented in a way that fits in with the Injustice game, making Scorpion look right at home alongside the villains and heroes of Injustice: Gods Among us.

The DLC pack will cost $4.99 on the PlayStation Network and 400 Microsoft Points on the Xbox 360.

This won't be the first time Scorpion has been matched up against DC Comic super heroes and villains, the first time being in Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe in 2008.

As the Injustice game doesn't particularly stick to any lore of the DC world, I think seeing Scorpion in the game is a nice, fun addition, and I'm hoping he'll be a valuable player to play with.

The Scorpion Download Content pack will be available from June 11th on wards for both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and should be available for Wii U sometime later in the summer.

  • New Batman Arkham Origins Screenshots

We've heard bits of info on Batman Arkham Origins here and there, but so far we haven't seen any in-game 'evidence' of the game. No screen shots and no videos have previously been shown. That is till now though, as Warner Brother's has just released some images on the upcoming title, and they are good enough to convince us that the third Arkham game may be the best one yet.

While we've discussed the strange combination of enemies found within Arkham Origins, there's no denying that the new screenshots really show how amazing the characters look. Villains like Deathstroke, Black Mask, and the slightly slimmer version of Penguin have been redesigned a little to better reflect the dark atmosphere in Arkham Origins and they fit right in. Of course, Batman is looking just as good as ever.

Are you looking forward to Arkham Origins? The game is releasing on October 25th for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U and the PC.

  • Capcom Will Sell More DLC, Cancelling Games

After Capcom reported a loss in profit from their development and publishing team last year, Capcom has made a few 'business decisions' that will affect their current games and perhaps end development for some titles scheduled for release.

Capcom has blamed these decisions on "changes in the industry," and a "decline in quality of titles outsources to overseas developers."

These new business changes will mean that some titles currently being developed by overseas developers will now cease to exist, and Capcom will start throwing more DLC into their games to try and make up for their loss.

When you look at it in most ways it looks like a bad decision by Capcom, as games are now going to be flooded with even more unneeded DLC packs for costumes and non-game affecting content for their games, and even if they do manage to release some decent content that adds new playability to their games, I can't see how they can improve their profit as they've already created a bad name for themselves in the industry.

Cancelling games is also not a great idea, especially if these games turn out to be Lost Planet 3 or any future Devil May Cry titles. Capcom hasn't stated what games they plan to stop developing, but as the developer/publisher has already pushed back the release date for LP3, it wouldn't surprise me if the game never saw retail.

There is one good side to all of this though, and that is that Capcom will be focusing on developing games with their in-house team, meaning more Eastern orientated titles will be likely to hit consoles in the upcoming years.
