  • Dead or Alive 5 Last Round has Almost $100 Worth of DLC

dead or alive 5 last roundWhether or not you're okay with the dozens of dollars worth of DLC content in Evolve generally comes down to how you feel about the whole practice of selling you content after the game has been completed, but it's not just Evolve that features staggering amounts of paid-for content.

In fact, Team Ninja have recently released details on what new downloadable content will be available in their latest remaster for new gen consoles. I'm of course talking about Dead or Alive 5 Last Round, the game that is a remake of Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate, which is coincidentally a remake of Dead or Alive 5.

I'm sure you can see what I'm getting at here. Even though Dead or Alive 5 Last Round is not going for full retail on either the PlayStation 4 or the Xbox One, the game does include just under $93 worth of DLC.

Fortunately, practically all of the DLC available is only cosmetic skins and costumes for characters, similarly to a lot of the content players can pay for in Evolve. The $93 price tag for DOA 5: LR is actually for the season pass. If you purchase every piece of DLC in Last Round separately, however, you'll possibly be looking at spending a considerable amount more.

So, before you get mad at Evolve for trying to milk us of our hard earned cash, just remember, there are games out there that offer 79 character costumes for a crazy $93. Honestly, it's all a bit crazy, but let's just be glad that most of it, both in Evolve and Dead or Alive, is all cosmetic and has no impact on the game whatsoever.

  • "No One is Gonna be Disappointed" with Forza 6, Coming this Holiday Season

forza 6 release"No one is gonna be disappointed" is the exact words you’d expect to hear from a marketing manager, and it's exactly what XBOX EMEA social marketing manager Graeme Boyd said in a recent podcast over at Rectify Gaming in reference to Forza Motorsport 6. However, I think we do have enough reason to believe him.

Whist Boyd wasn't kind enough to give up a release date for Forza 6, he did mention that "There will be lots of Forza news to come, and Turn 10 in particular is good at communicating with the community when they have stuff to talk about."

Hopefully this means that leading up to the release of Forza 6, we'll see a lot of great content, including gameplay reveals, juicy high-res screenshots and more for us to feast our eyes upon. Even though Boyd did not mention a planned release date, in another podcast, Aaron Greenberg did list Forza among a variety of games that will be making it's way to the Xbox One this holiday season.

It's certainly true that Xbox has a great lineup planned this year, and I absolutely cannot wait for some of the game expos, such as E3 to kick off so that we can get a great first hands look into what is to come from Xbox, and in particular, Xbox One this year.

Forza Motorsport 5 was great. but I think Forza 6 will be better by a wide margin. Turn 10 have had a lot of spare time to work on the title since the launch of the Xbox One.

  • GTA V To Get A Next-Gen Version?

GTA V Story DLCWell I bet this question was on the minds of several gamers, and might even have been sought by many. We already got both versions for several games including Call of Duty Ghosts and Assassin's Creed 4, so would it really be surprising to get a next gen port for GTA 5?

I mean no official news has been announced yet, and maybe even Rockstar is assessing the situation but we all thought at a point that GTA5 might be released for the next gen consoles. A big reason why a lot of us actually still hold on to our current games is also the fact that GTA5 was released on them.

During a recent interview with Lazlow, one the franchise mainstays, he responded to the question about whether gamers would see GTA5 on the next gen consoles. To this he responded with, "[they] haven't announced anything yet" followed by a wink which Lazlow explained was just a momentary reaction to a "seizure."

I mean at a point it is sort of inevitable. The new consoles already have quite a pretty decent userbase which will only increase. It is a matter of time before we will see GTA5 there, so the real question ends up being, when? Check out the interview for yourself from the link below.

  • Xbox One Indie Games Arriving From Early Next Year

Last August Microsoft revealed their indie development program for the Xbox One, and now they the first batch of games are scheduled to release from the early next year. ID@Xbox director Chris Charla told Edge that Microsoft has 32 studios currently working on indie titles for the Xbox One. Charla said, "I think it will be early in the New Year, in the first three months. I would say closer to the third month."

Xbox-One_2584436bCharla added that many of the games have been in development for months, "Some developers started developing for Xbox One, others already had games in development and are working on Xbox One versions. I would say they're at all stages of development, honestly. Other ID@Xbox developers however are waiting to gain access to the development tools. Microsoft is also planning on expanding the program and attempting to attract players to create to their own games using Project Spark.

Although PlayStation 4 has definitely had the head start, Xbox One is slowly gaining momentum. Several developers have already expressed their renewed interest towards the Xbox One in interviews with the Verge. The ID@Xbox program might also lead to future apps for the Xbox One as there may be future plans to attract app developers. Definitely some great news for Xbox One owners as the original programming launch would them access to pretty unique stuff in the future.

  • GTA V Online Trailer - GTA V Multiplayer Hits October 1st

If you haven't watched the GTA V Online trailer already, go watch it! If you have, then I expect you are just as excited as me!

First things first though- some have been a little confused at the whole GTA V Online thing. The trailer has made it to sound like some kind of standalone game, but Rockstar have cleared things up. GTA V Online will be accessible from any standard GTA V and won't require a code, a subscription or any kind of money to access.

However, the online multiplayer portion of GTA V won't be available until October 1st. This means that if you get the game at launch or before October, you won't be able to play online with your buddies and will only be able to play single-player.

The reason for this is most likely that Rockstar wants to spend two more weeks truly polishing up the multiplayer experience so that it arrives in tip top condition for all of us to play how Rockstar wanted us to play it.

If you've watched both gameplay trailers, than you can see why this is definitely understandable and I think Rockstar deserves to spend the time they need to put even more love into the game.

Rockstar is one of my favorite developers because they don't release their games and tie them to any random publisher deals which means we won't be paying more for content and Rockstar even said that they'll be constantly updating the online world and making changes that we can access for free!

Stay tuned for our custom controllers themed around Grand Theft Auto V in the near future!

  • Assassin's Creed 2 is Now Available for Free with Xbox Live Gold

As expected, Microsoft has now made Assassin's Creed 2 available to download for free for a limited period of time. This game is part of the "Games with Gold" program that is strictly for Xbox Live users with a Gold membership.

The Games with Gold program seems to be Microsoft's way of challenging PlayStation's PS Plus subscription service that has offered free games since launch. Many also believe that Microsoft are doing the Games with Gold campaign to try and claw back any customers they may have lost at their terrible pre-E3 event.

Although Assassin's Creed 2 is pretty old now, it still stands as a good, enjoyable game, and when not for free, can cost $20 to download digitally from the Xbox marketplace. However second copies from retailers such as Gamestop are probably selling the game for less than $10, and perhaps even less than $5 depending on the demand for the old game.

Players have so far managed to grab Fable III, Defense Grid: The Awakening and Assassin's Creed 2 for free.

  • Microsoft gives a few New Details on New Xbox 360 Free Games Promotion

If you didn't know already, Microsoft revealed at E3 that Gold members will now be eligible to two free Xbox 360 games each month. There wasn't really much information on how this new promotion works, although some keen-eyed Gold members had already spotted that Fable 3 was up for grabs for free before Microsoft even announced the new promotion.

To clear a few things up, Microsoft has now given a few new details on their promotion, stating that "As our way of saying thanks, we're giving all active Gold members two bonus Xbox 360 games each month for the rest of the year. Each specially selected, fan-favorite game will be available to download only for a limited time, so grab them before they're gone and keep them no matter what."

A new game will be available on the 1st and the 16th of the month for free for a limited time, and every Gold member that downloads the game will then be able to play the game for free forever, even if there Gold membership runs out.

Next month we will have Assassin's Creed II and Halo 3 up for grabs for free, and this month we had Fable 3, so it seems Microsoft are offering the games that no one really buys.

It's nice that these games are being offered for free, but if you do miss a game, don't worry because the 'specially picked' games seem to be ones that can be picked up from GameStop for a few dollars.

  • New Dishonored DLC Gets Release Date

    New Dishonored DLC

A new downloadable content pack for Dishonored has been announced, and its release date is slated for April 16th 2013.

The new DLC has been named the Knife of Dunwall and will be the second DLC pack for Dishonored, adding more content onto the base gameplay.

In the Knife of Dunwall, players will play as the fiends that made acquaintance with the protagonist earlier in the game in his quest for revenge. You'll play specifically as an assassin named Daud as he seeks forgiveness for his evil actions, taking the game to brand new locations, filled with new enemies, environments and objectives, as well as a whole host of new skills to use whilst playing as Daud.

I for one am looking forward to the new DLC and I'm happy that the developers have been creative by adding a new plotline with brand new scenery, enemies and skills, instead of just adding new missions to the main story.

The Knife of Dunwall will be available for around $10, or Xbox Live's equivalent in Microsoft Points on the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

The PS3 release will make it a day later than the April 16th release for the PC and Xbox version, however it will still land without missing out on any features included in the PC and 360 versions.

  • New ACIII DLC Turns Connor into an Eagle

    New Assassins' Creed DLC

Ubisoft has recently revealed a trailer that shows Assassins' Creed in all its nature.

The new trailer shows off Ratonhnhake:ton and his new eagle abilities which will be usable in the new downloadable content pack.

At first I thought it a bit strange to see the assassin character transform into a ghost bird, but it's important to remember that the world you play in in Assassins' Creed 3 is in fact a virtual reality, meaning anything is quite possible.

I still personally think things like this, and the previous invisibility cloak almost ruin the immersion of the game, and I'd prefer to stick to a game that is more relatable to real life.

The new DLC pack has been named The Tyranny of King Washington: The Betrayal, and currently prices for the pack haven't been announced, however the trailer does show that the new DLC is available for free to all of those who have purchased the season pass.

  • Metal Gear Rising Revengeance DLC Now up for Free for 2 Weeks

    Metal Gear Rising Free DLC

We all know the devs behind the Metal Gear games have always had a strong relationship with Sony and PlayStation, and it's only been till recently that they've given up their exclusivity and offered the game on platforms other than the PlayStation.

However, a new move by Konami has shown that their bond with the PlayStation platform is strong, which sees Sony offering DLC for free for a limited period of time.

The recently released VR Missions pack adds 30 missions to the game, and although it had a pretty low price before in terms of downloadable content, it is now accessible for free from the PlayStation network till April 2nd.

The VR Missions pack is still only available as a purchase on Xbox Live, and will cost Xbox players 240 Microsoft Points.

It's still cheap, but it makes you wonder what is going on behind the scenes with Sony and Konami.

Two other DLC packs will also be added this April, with information straight from Konami telling us that one DLC pack will focus on Sam, whilst the other will focus on the Blade Wolf character.

"The first DLC pack, Jetstream, will be a side story featuring Sam as a playable character. The second pack, Blade Wolf, will allow players to control the enigmatic Blade Wolf and will showcase his side story. Both DLC packs will feature multiple hours of gameplay including unique abilities and characteristics for each character, while also expanding on each of their storylines and origins."

Do you think console exclusives should still be released? Or do you think developers should work on bringing their games to as many platforms as possible?

While trying to figure out your position on platform exclusivity, check out our modded ps3 controllers in our Controller Creator.
