Nintendo makes a mark during largest sales day of 2010
According to the Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime, an average of 9,000 Nintendo hardware systems sold during every hour of every day of Black Friday in the United States alone. He and Nintendo attributed these high sales this to the recent release of the 25th Anniversary of Mario red Wii and DSi XL systems, the orange and green Nintendo DSi holiday bundles included in Black Friday sales, and consumers recognition of Nintendo as a top value and all-inclusive entertainment system.
This years sales only slightly beat out last years, with 550,000 Wiis and one million DS consoles selling out during the 2009 Black Friday week. However, competitively, Nintendo sales more than tripled PlayStation 3 sales, which sold a mere 440,000 units (because thats not a lot), according to Sony.
Did you buy any new consoles last week or are you planning to? With the holidays straight ahead, any system would certainly warm a childs heart and be at the top of winter shopping lists!
