  • E3: Destiny 2 Beta and PC Release Dates Announced

destiny 2 beta dateThanks to Bungie's appearance at E3, we now have a confirmation on the upcoming beta and the release date for the PC version of Destiny 2.

It has been confirmed that both the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 will have a beta for Destiny 2. The PlayStation 4 beta will start on July 18, while the Xbox One beta will start on July 19. A PC beta is also planned for sometime in August.

Both platforms will have their beta end on July 23.

July 18 is a Tuesday and July 23 is a Sunday, so PS4 players will have almost an entire week to test out Destiny 2 in the beta. It should be noted that the beta is exclusively for those that pre-order Destiny 2.

In line with the good news about the beta, it's been confirmed that the Destiny 2 release date for consoles has been pushed forward to September 6. Previously the release date was September 8.

The PC release date has also been confirmed - it is now set to launch on October 24.

Earlier in the year, Destiny 2 was unveiled at a special event by Bungie - we already know quite a bit about the game. There's no doubt that fans of the Destiny franchise are getting quite excited right now.

Are you going to be picking up Destiny 2? If so, what platform will be your first choice for the upcoming game from Bungie?

  • E3: Twitch eSports Arena Announced at E3

Twitch eSports ArenaTwitch, the popular video game streaming service, has taken to the stage at E3 to announce a brand new Twitch esports arena.

The brand new arena will be sponsored by T-Mobile and will be available for viewing on Twitch.tv/twitchesports.

During the E3 event, three games have been picked out for the esports arena at E3. The first game will be Street Fighter V - this event will take place on June 13 and will start at 12PM and will run throughout the day. Notable players for this event include Punk, Snake Eyez, Smug, and NYChrisG.

On June 14, Tekken 7 will be the next game to be hosted at the Twitch esports E3 arena. This event will also start at 12PM and will end at 8PM. Notable players for this event include Bronson, Anakin, P Ling, and Brawlpro.

Finally, on June 15, an Injustice 2 esports event will be hosted at the Twitch esports E3 arena from 12-5PM. Notable players for this event include Noble Dragon, Pig of the Hut, and BioHazard.

At 5:30 PM, the USA team for the Overwatch world cup will be announced and a four-game match between team USA and team Canada will take place.

Will you be tuning in to see any of these Twitch esports events? This is more of a community effort by Twitch to host a small event during E3, as opposed to a large scale esports tournament, but it'll be interesting to see if this event by Twitch runs smoothly.

  • Injustice 2 Promotional Content Leaked

    injustice 2 poster leak

It looks like we may be getting Injustice: Gods Among Us 2 after all. Recently, a poster which seems to be leaked material for the upcoming sequel to Injustice was posted online. Whether or not the artwork is real or not is hard to confirm at this point but as you can see above, the quality of this artwork is exceptional.

It seems crazy to think an individual would go out of their way to create a poster of this quality just to fake a leak like this. But if you're not entirely convinced, we have some information to add further legitimacy to the image.

This poster hasn't just appeared from one source - multiple sources from various GameStop retail stores across the US have shared this online. Some sources have gotten in touch with online gaming news sites including Kotaku, Polygon and Game Informer. Plenty of the websites seem to cite different sources so it seems very likely that this poster really is sitting in the back of hundreds of GameStop stores across America.

We wouldn't be surprised if we even see something about Injustice 2 at E3 this year. The event is shaping up to be a hot one and the original Injustice title was a massive hit. We're super excited to see whether Injustice will make it to retail this year or not because it would bring a big splash to the current fighting scene, which is focused mostly on Tekken 7, Street Fighter V and Mortal Kombat X.

  • Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Confirmed

    xbox one backwards compatibility

After announcing that the Xbox One wouldn't have backwards compatibility for Xbox 360 games, many 360 owners had to choose to say goodbye to their Xbox 360 games collection or hold on to their outdated console just to play them.

At the time, there was absolutely no hope for backwards compatibility - it seemed like Microsoft were very sure backwards compatibility would never come to the Xbox One and it was a feature that would take a lot of resources that could be better spent on developing other experiences.

Strangely though, Microsoft recently announced at E3 that the Xbox One will be getting backwards compatibility in a future update for the console. This will mean that Xbox One owners will be able to play a variety of Xbox 360 games on the One. There's a chance that not all games will work on the Xbox One but Microsoft are working hard to ensure that as many Xbox 360 games as possible can be played on the Xbox One.

Not only will the Xbox One get backwards compatibility, but Xbox are adding a feature that will bring up the Xbox 360 guide menu within the Xbox One OS. In a sense, the Xbox One will be simulating the Xbox 360 software on top of the Xbox One.

When the backwards compatibility feature is added to the Xbox One, only 100 games will be supported, and it will be at the publisher's discretion to greenlight their games to be supported by the Xbox One's backwards compatibility feature.

  • Rare Planning to Reveal New Game at E3

rare new game e3Everybody's interest for Rare died out a little bit when they were hired to make Kinect games for the Xbox 360, but as soon as they're given a bit more creative freedom again I'm sure the world will be looking their way.

Let's hope that's the case with this year's E3 expo, because according to Rare's studio creative director, Simon Woodroffe, "E3 will tell the world what Gregg Mayles new project is about."

As you can imagine, Simon couldn't go too far into details about the upcoming game and he made sure he didn't give too much away. Simon did however Tweet the following:

"All I can give here is a quote from the man himself, 'This is more fun than anything we've ever done.'"

Both Simon Woodroffe and Gregg Mayles have been responsible for putting their hearts into games like Donkey Kong Country and Viva Pinata and those were definitely some very fun games. If Rare is suggesting that their next game is going to be more fun than anything they've ever done, then that suggests that we could be in for a very nice surprise.

There are so many different IP under Rare's control and their creative freedom always gives them the opportunity to create completely new experience as well. At this point I really couldn't even guess what to expect from Rare. All I can say is bring on E3 - This year's event is going to be insane.

  • Star Wars Battlefront Release Date Announced

star wars battlefrontA whole bunch of new information about Star Wars Battlefront has been revealed by DICE, including details about when the game is going to be released. So far, we have yet to see any true in-game footage, but a very impressive in-engine trailer was released alongside the information that DICE has shared.

First thing's first, the release date for Star Wars Battlefront has been set for an unspecified day in November. The new Battlefront game will be available for PS4, Xbox One and PC when it releases.

DICE also revealed that Battlefront will run at 60 frames per second and all local game modes will support split screen play. Unfortunately there will be no split screen support for online modes. The local mode that will support split screen play is called Missions and this is a game mode that puts human players against a team of bots. Similarly to Titanfall, Star Wars Battlefront will not have any singleplayer campaign so the Missions mode will be the only option players will have for playing offline.

Whilst DICE didn't say exactly how many maps will be available, they did state that Star Wars Battlefront will have more than 8 maps at launch, which suggests that more may come in the future as DLC. There will be four planets at launch and there will be at least two different maps per planet.

Hopefully we'll learn more about Star Wars Battlefront at E3 later this year.

  • No Solo Campaign in Battlefront

solo campaign battlefrontThere is a very large pool of gamers that are getting hyped up for the launch of Star Wars: Battlefront. Whilst EA and DICE have managed to impress most audiences so far, there is one area of Battlefront that will be completely missing and this may disappoint some gamers who prefer a more solo experience.

Even though there will be some local co-op options for players and you will be able to connect to some content in Star Wars: Battlefront whilst offline, there will be no solo campaign in the game. Unlike previous Star Wars Battlefront titles, this means that players will be limited to playing the multiplayer mode or playing the Missions mode against AI opponents.

The Missions mode gives players the opportunity to team up locally on one single console, but we're assuming that you'll also be able to play Missions on your own. The name Missions makes the mode sound a lot more interesting, but it's basically just a player Vs AI equivalent of the online multiplayer modes.

The Missions mode can be completed online as well, and they are simply described as a series of objectives players can complete across different locations. This approach is very similar to the route Respawn Entertainment took with Titanfall.

The lack of solo campaign isn't inherently a bad thing, but I really hope that the multiplayer is captivating to keep us coming back again and again. We'll have to wait till E3 for our next taste of Battlefront. Hopefully we'll see some gameplay at E3 considering Battlefront is now set to release this November.

  • New Just Cause 3 Screenshots Shared

just cause 3 screenshotsThere's not really all that much to get excited about when a publisher posts out more screenshots of an upcoming game we've already seen so many screenshots for, but Just Cause 3 is so diverse that these latest images are actually very interesting.

In total, there have been seven new screenshots released by Square Enix. The first of which features Rico gliding over farmland as a farmer stands below, looking a bit shocked at what's happening above him. I really like this shot because it shows that the environment in Just Cause 3 will be just as luscious and 'alive' as we have expected it to be.

In the next two screenshots, we see Rico causing havoc with a mini gun as everything around him burns to the ground. Four more shots show off Rico grappling onto vehicles and using the great grappling mechanics seen in previous Just Cause games being put to good use.

I'm really excited to see where Just Cause 3 goes from here - we have all seen that is has the potential to be an absolute monster of an open world game, and previous titles in the franchise have already been impressive enough.

We're hoping we'll finally see some gameplay footage of Just Cause 3 at E3 this year. Leading up to E3, it's likely we may see various more screenshots, but there's only so much still images we can take before we're bursting at the seams in anticipation of some real gameplay.

  • What is Happening at Bethesda's E3 Conference?

bethesdas e3 conferenceRecently, Bethesda has revealed plans to hold a press conference at E3 in June, and by the sounds of it, it's going to be pretty big. But what could Bethesda be planning at their upcoming conference?

The first conclusion that many people will jump to is the announcement of Fallout 4. Yes, this could be a possibility, and considering all of the hype surrounding the rumored game so far, it would make sense.

The strange thing is that no matter how large a game Bethesda has announced, we've never seen a press conference as large as Bethesda is making their upcoming E3 conference to be.

Whilst it is planned for E3, the actual conference will be happening a few days before all of the chaos of the gaming show. The event will take place on a Sunday, on June 14th.

Before we straight up say it's most likely to be a Fallout 4 announcement, let's take a look at a few other things Bethesda could potentially show off. Firstly, the Doom reboot we've all been expecting for a long time still hasn't showed it's face - that's one possibility.

If it's not Doom, Bethesda could release their upcoming free to play shooter BattleCry, but we doubt that game would receive a large press conference like the one planned for E3. A new venture into the Elder Scrolls universe could be a possibility too, but it would be odd for Bethesda to release a new Elder Scrolls game before Fallout 4. We'll let you know more as soon as we know more.

  • Ubisoft Plans to Reimagine Assassins’ Creed Franchise with Brand New AC: Unity

assassins creed unity e3You may be getting a bit fed up with the constant release of new Assassins' Creed games, but despite there being so many, there's doubt that Ubisoft are working hard to keep things fresh and enjoyable. The last game in the series, Assassin's' Creed IV: Black Flag, was a great new experience for the franchise, and Ubisoft want to make sure things are still as fresh as ever with their latest game, AC: Unity.

In Assassins' Creed Unity, there will be a larger focus on team play and co-operative work. There will be a set of online-only missions that will allow players to test their single player character in an environment with other players, but this will be a separate experience from the single player game.

Thanks to next gen hardware, there will also be a big improvement on overall game mechanics, and things from climbing and navigating the world to combat gameplay will have refined systems to make them feel more intuitive and seamless.

Gameplay will also feel more open; if you fail a mission, instead of reverting back to a checkpoint, new objectives will open up to amend your mistakes and finish the original mission like planned.

Assassin's Creed Unity will be released this October 28th. The game will be released for just PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, making it the first Assassins' Creed title to be exclusive for current gen consoles, leaving the last gen in the dark.
