New Halo 4 Details

Halo 4 comes out later this year and it's definitely one of those games that everyone in the office is excited to play.

Microsoft recently revealed the following tidbits regarding Halo 4:

1)Halo 4 will feature weekly multiplayer episodes with brand new original content.
2)Halo 4 will have a unique competitive Multiplayer Mode called "War Games."
3)The Halo 4 Limited Edition release comes with 3 map packs and is priced at $100.

According to Microsoft the weekly multiplayer episodes will go under the title of "Spartan Ops" and will be 100% free. While the multiplayer map packs will of course cost additional Microsoft points, each map pack consists of 3 maps. So in total the limited edition comes with 9 additional maps. Definitely worth it if you know you will be playing online for months to come.

You can expect Evil to release more Halo mods to give your copy of Halo 4 additional mileage.

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier's Main Opposition Includes a Russian Team Named After Russian Folklore

Revealed earlier this week, thanks to this article on Gaming Blend, Ghost Recon: Future Soldier reveals a bit of its story to us. The main focus of the story surrounds a Russian (possibly rogue) task force that has managed to wipe out an entire Ghost team with a bomb. Now, as the other team of Ghosts, you must track down the source of the bomb using advanced technology. All the signs point to a Russian group who call themselves Bodark.

In Russian, the word "Bodark" refers to those who wish to become werewolves. However, based off of the series past installments, it's more likely that the word in this case refers to their motivations more than their likely hood to become real werewolves. Though, if werewolves were really in it, you might need one of our PS3 or XBOX 360 modded controllers to help you out.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier will be available on the XBox 360 and the PS3 on May 25th.

Details We Can Gather From the Black Ops 2 Trailer

As of the first of May, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 was officially confirmed and its trailer was released officially to the public during the NBA playoffs (though it was leaked earlier through proxies in its UK site but that was taken care of in its early stages).

You can find the trailer here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3tedlWs1XY&feature=plcp

Despite the intensity of the action throughout the trailer, you can still tell the game is packed with narrative content, but the majority of the games plot is still in the dark.

But after watching the video a couple of times, we can confirm the following:

>It's in the future setting of 2025.

>Frank Woods is alive, at the age of 95 (since he was born in 1930 according to Black Ops Intel) and quite possibly serves as the narrator of the entire game.

>Robotics and Technology are highly present and have evolved greatly over the last few years.

>Possibility of military technology could point its guns at us or be hijacked.

>Los Angeles is now a warzone.

>Action in the Middle East and the past will play a significant role. According to a press release from the Washington Post, we are likely to go back in time to when the Russians invaded Afghanistan through the eyes of Alex Mason (from the first Black Ops and also the father of the protagonist).

A New Mode in Black Ops 2 Can Effect Your Single Player Campaign.

These days, making choices in a video game and having that affect the outcome isn't too rare. However, it is a change of pace for a Call of Duty title. According to this article at Joystiq it seems that during the single player campaign of Black Ops 2, you will be given a handful of "Strike Force" missions to take care of. When one is chosen, others will be unavailable and later replaced with fresher missions. These missions will have some impact on the campaign.

For example, in one mission you are asked to take down an enemy freighter. While you can be a single soldier and run through it, you can choose instead to do something different like take it out with aerial attack drones or use a CLAW, a dog-like land-based attack vehicle, to sweep in and destroy everything.

But these single-player missions set in the near-future aren't simply random missions without a story wrapper. Instead, they offer players an opportunity to play Call of Duty with an element of rarely seen choice. While they offer a change of pace, theses choices and events can then influence and leak into your single player mode and possibly change the world in Black Ops 2.

So it seems that the best endings may entail the use of a modded controller to ensure you gain the upper hand and the advantage over your computerized opponents until you decide to drop into an online match.

Black Ops 2 is Now Officially Confirmed and Could Possibly Have the Return of Sgt. Frank Woods

Just very recently (thanks to Kotaku), Treyarch officially announced Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and confirmed all of its rumors. In addition, they added an image revealing content that hints at the return of what seems to be Sgt. Frank Woods from the first Black Ops game. As seen here on MP1st, there are almost canon-level hints of his return in the sequel. There are additional content including to be his aged face and voice (likely done by the same voice actor), while there is no additional information of his role in this semi-futuristic Black Ops sequel.

So with all the revealing content, I guess we should get our PS3 and XBox 360 modded controllers ready as we're heading into some Black Ops set in the future. And it looks like Frank Woods is coming along for the ride.

According to news from Joystiq, it seems that a mysterious but interesting project called "Project Zwei" is a project involving Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami and his Bethesda Softworks-supported group Tango Gameworks. This codename for this project was revealed to Famitsu (Japan's leading source of video game news) where Mikami stated that the game will be a survival horror game, drawing elements from the Resident Evil series.

In addition, the interview revealed that the game is still rather early in development. He said that the game won't be out this year but sometime within a full year at least. Most of the content for the game will be done by Maryland-based publisher Bethesda Softworks, creators of such games like Oblivion and the Fallout series. There is only little bits of revealed content about the project but that the game is intended for HD consoles and that the "zwei" (two in German) has nothing to do with the game's content.

Accord to Joystiq, Nexon, the South Korean MMO company that created Maple Story is a pretty big player in the East. It's so big, it's thinking about and looking at possibilities of buying out a competitor from the West, Electronic Arts. Yes, THAT Electronic Arts. MK Business News, a South Korean newspaper, has reported that Nexon's Japanese headquarters spoke with EA about acquiring the company. However, it is unclear what the negotiations have come to. EA isn't saying anything according to all of its representatives.

But the bigger question is if this deal is possible in the first place. Many people don't think so. Michael Pachter (Wedbush Securities analyst and host of Pach-Attack on GameTrailers.com) sated that it is highly improbable.

"There are few, if any synergies, and no reason to believe that Nexon could run EA's assets more efficiently. Nexon shareholders would own a completely different company than what they bought in the December IPO..."

So for now, it seems all these talks about an EA takeover is interesting to talk about. But it's highly and very unlikely for a deal to be happening in the near future.

While the next Call of Duty teaser site still counts down to its May 1st unveiling, Activision finds other ways to tease the next COD title. Using the gun-totting obviously-using-a-fake-Russian-accent Youtube celebrity FPSRussia (formerly named FPSKyle), they managed to show us one of the new weapons in the upcoming Call of Duty game. In his newest video, FPSRussia demonstrates a "Prototype Quadrotor," and uses the attached machine gun to shoot down and blow up some stuff.

The host refers to the quadrotor as a new kind of technology that's in its prototype stage. He claimed that the technology isn't ready yet until another 15 years. He then said that it might appear in the next Call of Duty game. Adding more to the tease, the video was tagged with the tags "call of duty future weapons" and "near future warfare.". Obviously this is just a teaser video for the next COD...unless FPSRussia really does have access to those kinds of secret military weapons.

With so many leaks about Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, you could swear that its release is no longer a rumor, but rather confirmed news. From leaks from outside sources and teasers from Activision, I think we can all agree, Black Ops 2 is coming.

Recently a source from Target emailed IGN an interesting image. An image of a Target pre-order card confirming both the title and the release date for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. The release date is confirmed as November 13th of this year. Which is odd since it's about one week after the release of Halo 4.

Which game will you pick up?
