  • Gears of War 4 Xbox One X Improvements Explained

gears of war 4 xbox one xGears of War 4 is set to receive a rather hefty patch that'll include a range of improvements aimed towards Xbox One X users. These improvements are all changes to the graphical appearance and overall frame performance of the game.

The update is completely free, but it won't offer any benefits for those not using the Xbox One X.

To begin with, the new Xbox One X improvements for Gears of War 4 will allow players to play the game in true 4K (3840 x 2160). Players will have the option to choose between different visual modes, but even 1080P is said to have a significant graphics boost.

There will also be two different rendering modes players can choose from. Players can either go into Performance mode or Visuals mode. On Performance mode, the game will be capped at 1080P resolution, but frame rate will be higher and will reach 60 frames per second.

With the Visuals mode, players can choose to use 4K resolution and 30FPS. These changes will only be apparent in Campaign and Horde modes. For Versus modes, all players will have access to 4K 60FPS gameplay.

A number of other graphical improvements have been added to Gears of War 4 on the Xbox One X thanks to the new Xbox One X performance increase. These improvements include enhanced light shafts, dynamic shadows, increased draw distances, enhanced character textures, and better reflections. Players will also get better audio quality with the included Dolby Atmos support.

  • NBA 2K18 Prelude Demo Available for Free

nba 2k18 prelude demoIf you're not getting excited for NBA 2K18 yet, the new Prelude demo might get you interested.

The Prelude demo is available for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners and will give players a chance to try out NBA 2K18 for free in anticipation of the game's impending release.

With Prelude, players get to dip their feet in the new MyCareer mode. Players will also be given the opportunity to test out the Neighborhoods mode.

In Neighborhoods, players are given access to an online social space where they can interact with other players, challenge others to games, and play various activities, some of which can improve their player's stats.

Interestingly, the developers are letting players keep hold of the progress they make during the Prelude demo. If you improve your character's stats, change your character's appearance, or make any other progress, it'll stay with your account when you purchase and play the full game.

NBA 2K18 is set to launch on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PS3, Xbox 360, and PC on September 19. However, those who have preordered the game are given the opportunity to play the game four days earlier on September 15.

Are you interested in NBA 2K18 and the new MyCareer and MyPark changes? If you're on the fence, we'd suggest giving the Prelude demo a download. It's free to download and play and will be available up until NBA 2K18 launches later this month.

  • No Man's Sky Getting an Update - Worth Revisiting?

no man's sky atlas rising updateSurprise, surprise - No Man's Sky is getting a big update and it may even make the game worth a revisit.

When No Man's Sky first launched, it was eaten into by the gaming community because of the developer behind the game, Hello Games, vastly under delivered. They broke many promises about the content of the game.

For example, Hello Games mentioned that No Man's Sky would have multiplayer, and the game would have a universe where players could leave their mark. Both of these features were quickly debunked as soon as No Man's Sky launched.

In the new update, No Man's Sky will be getting some kind of story that serves to piece together the game's existing content and provide players with more of a reason to explore.

The new update is called Atlas Rises, and it is available to all No Man's Sky players for free. The patch notes for Atlas Rises haven't yet been revealed, but the most notable features include a brand new story and a quick travel feature that will allow players to travel between worlds quickly.

When the patch notes are released for Atlas Rises, we'll share more on this brand new update. Do you think a brand new story could be enough to get players to return to No Man's Sky?

Let us know your thoughts on No Man's Sky and Hello Games by leaving a comment below. We'd love to hear your opinions.

  • Battlefield 4 Navy Strike DLC Now Free

    1934305_0

Although all of the hype is one Battlefield 1 right now, DICE has recently started to release some of their previous DLC for Battlefield 4 as free content. Plenty of DLC packs are now readily available to 'purchase' for free from the Sony, Xbox and PC Marketplaces from any web browser.

The latest Battlefield 4 DLC pack to go free is the Navy Strike DLC. This pack includes a total of four new multiplayer maps, five weapons unseen by players that do not own the DLC pack, as well as two gadgets and a new hovercraft vehicle that can be used on water and land. As you can imagine, there is quite a lot of water on the Navy Strike maps.

The Carrier Assault mode is also exclusive to Navy Strike DLC owners, but now that it is available to download for free, everybody will be able to play the game mode. Usually the Navy Strike DLC cost $15 so if you'd like to gain access to it whilst it's free, you should sign into the PSN marketplace, the Xbox Games Store or the Origin PC app to claim the content as soon as possible.

Previous DLC released by DICE as part of the 'Road to Battlefield 1' campaign was only made available for free for a limited period of time. It's likely that this will apply for the Navy Strike DLC too. Once you have claimed it, however, you will be able to use the DLC for free forever.

  • New Need for Speed will Have free DLC

    need for speed free dlc

Despite being published by EA, the new Need for Speed game may be very generous to players when it comes to DLC and other paid for content past the base game price. If you've been paying attention to the video games industry recently you'll have noticed that it's basically become common practice to put DLC or even microtransactions in full AAA games these days so it's always a refreshing change when a developer goes against the norm.

Craig Sullivan, the creative director for the new Need for Speed game has revealed that the upcoming title will not have any DLC content that is paid for, and on top of that there will be no microtransactions. On top of having no extra paid content, there will be additional content after the launch of Need for Speed that will be given to players for free.

Craig Sullivan didn't rule out the possibility of paid DLC in the future, but it seems very unlikely - their plans are not to create any extra paid content and it looks like they'd like to stick to that for as long as possible.

"Everything we're doing is focusing on listening to what the fans are asking for. They're certainly not saying to us, 'Can you build a load of stuff and charge us for it?' They're not saying that, so we're not doing that. I know some people when we do press like this, they say, 'Yeah, but I'm sure it'll all change in a week or two, or six months.' It's not going to. The plan is that there are no transactions in this game. All of the content that we're going to give you - a pretty substantial amount in the future, starting pretty soon - is going to be free. That's what players deserve."

  • More The Witcher 3 Free DLC Revealed

    the witcher 3 dlc

The next free The Witcher 3 DLC has been revealed and unlike most of the previously released content, this new DLC will feature an extra quest that adds extra playtime to the game. Whilst CD Projekt Red usually release two DLC items per week, there will only be one DLC item this week.

The DLC in question is a side quest called Where the Cat and Wolf Play... and it is the penultimate free DLC available to all The Witcher 3 players. Next week we will see the last DLC item from CD Projekt Red before they start to work on full blown expansions, so let's hope we get something special to go out with a bang.

If we don't get anything particularly special next week, we do still have the side quest this week to look forward to. CD Projekt Red has described the side quest a little, explaining that players will be able to explore an abandoned village as they try to understand the village's history.

Players will be able to find a new witcher contract in Oreton village once the DLC has been released. The description below is what CD Projekt Red has provided their fans.

"Explore a forgotten village and discover its terrifying secret. Find out who or what slaughtered its inhabitants and use all your witcher skills to confront this mysterious force."

Are you looking forward to checking out the latest DLC quest for The Witcher 3? I can imagine it will be just as decent as the other DLC side quests that have been added in the past.

  • Upcoming Battlefield 4 DLC Will be Free

battlefield hardline dlcBattlefield 4 has already had a season pass but DICE aren't quite done with developing content for the game just yet. However, instead of charging players extra on top of all the other additional DLC costs already tied onto Battlefield 4, DICE has made the noble choice to release all of the future DLC content for free.

Whilst previous DLC will still cost players the same it does today, any new content created by DICE and released for Battlefield 4 from this day forwards will be absolutely free to all players.

So far there are a lot of details that haven't been shared by DICE, but we do know that they are working on some new maps, including night time maps. The night maps should be variants of previously released maps. So far we already know that Siege of Shanghai, Zavod 311, and Golmud Railway will be receiving nighttime variants. A new community-made map is also in the works and should be released for free in the not too distant future.

A new patch is planned for this Spring and it will come with some new content too. As well as fixing up some bugs, the Spring patch will add in five new weapons and the Gunmaster game mode.

For those new to the Battlefield series, Gunmaster plays out just like other Gun Games. You'll start with one weapon and each kill will reward you with a new weapon. There are seventeen weapons to get through until you finally get given the knife. A knife kill will end the game.

Yakuza 4 is an action adventure game developed by SEGA. It features various different mini games and modes related to fighting opponents. PS3 - Thief

Thief is the latest reboot of the classic stealth based franchise. It may have a short campaign, but it’s still a lot of fun and definitely worth playing for free.
