  • Gearbox Hiring for Next Borderlands Game

next borderlands gameOh, hurrah - Gearbox seem to be gearing up for yet another Borderlands game. If you haven't become bored of the franchise already, then you might be excited to hear this news. If you are bored of Borderlands, keep reading, this new game might offer something a little different if a new job listing is anything to go by.

Gearbox president, Randy Pitchford took to Twitter to post an image asking for any individuals in the games industry to send their CVs to Randy's personal email. In the image, the words "Next Borderlands Team" were written, alongside lots of silhouetted figures. The phrase "This could be you" were written all over the image, which almost suggests that Randy and the guys at Gearbox are looking for a fairly large amount of new people to join their team.

We've seen a few 'we're hiring' posts by developers in the past that inadvertently lead to us discovering about new upcoming games a little early, but these kind of posts usually offer a handful of positions at most.

If Gearbox are really planning to recruit a whole new team for their next Borderlands game, does that mean they have something extra ambitious planned? Well, that could be completely possible. As well as linking his email address, Randy Pitchford mentioned that "This is the big one." in reference to the next Borderlands game.

That sentence is enough to get me excited - I had honestly become bored of the franchise after completing the second game, but it sounds as if Borderlands 3 might be an entirely new beast that could help re-invent the Borderlands universe. If this is the case then I cannot wait to find out more about the game.

  • Gearbox Studio Gets Car Bomb Threat

gearbox bomb squadIn an odd turn of events, Gearbox Studio CEO, Randy Pitchford, recalls his encounter with a bomb disposal unit. At around 7:30PM last Friday, a bomb disposal squad was sent to the Gearbox HQ.

Whilst most employees had gone home at this point, Randy Pitchford was still at work, and the bomb squad moved to the Gearbox HQ with the aim to 'dispose a car bomb' in the parking lot owned by Gearbox.

Whilst the disposal unit refused to give full details as to why they had been caught out, Randy Pitchford mentioned that he did not call the bomb squad, and he was unsure why such a problem escalated in the first place.

The most likely thing to have happened was that an individual decided to call the police to inform them of a car bomb in the Gearbox parking lot in an attempt to "prank" the company - it's a tactic that many streamers, Youtubers and companies involved in the gaming industry have had to deal with.

Whilst it's unlikely a car bomb was ever present at Gearbox HQ, it's important for the bomb disposal unit to react appropriately to such calls, and it's unfortunate that certain individuals have the gut to waste a large amount of resources and time to "prank" targeted companies or streamers that may be in the spotlight.

Gearbox has recently been working hard to release their new game, Borderlands the Pre-Sequel, and the game has been set for release on October 14th this year in the United States.
