  • Killzone Devs Teasing Something New

new killzone soonA brand new image has been posted to the Killzone twitter, suggesting that something will be coming "soon." Despite how vague this information is, it’s pretty clear that whatever that something is, it will be big.

We can only speculate at this point in time - despite the announcement on the Twitter page, we have heard very little from within the Guerilla Games studio. No rumors have been spread in relation to Killzone over the last few months, so once again, we’re pretty short for answers.

Some Killzone players are suggesting that the new announcement may be somewhat related to the PS Vita game, named Killzone Mercenary. Mercenary was released in 2013, so it's completely possible that the game could be receiving a timely update.

Alternatively, there could be a completely new Killzone game for the PS Vita. Considering the 2 year gap since the last PS Vita title, it's not unreasonable to think Guerilla Games may completely scrap Mercenary to work on something completely new.

It's completely possible that the new something may have nothing to do with the PS Vita whatsoever. A brand new Killzone game isn't entirely out of the question, although we expect we'll be more likely to see some kind of content patch for the game.

Guerilla Games have already made a lot of changes to the base game of Killzone Shadow Fall, so seeing more changes would not be surprising at this point.

Unfortunately, we can't really make any guesses past what we've shared here. We'll just have to be patient and see what comes in the near future.

  • Guerrilla Games Gearing Up to Reveal New IP at E3 2014

guerrilla games new IPGuerrilla Games won't be working on a new Killzone game for their next title release, but instead will focus on a brand new IP, according to a new job listing by the development studio.

According to the job listing, the new IP by Guerrilla Games will feature online multiplayer, singleplayer and co-op experiences, however no other information from the studio has been given.

Luckily though, a bit of information has leaked from an insider, who also leaked content on the PS4 1.70 update, so although the information from the tipster may be false, it's pretty likely the information shared could be pretty on track with Guerrilla Game's plans for the future.

The insider revealed that Guerrilla Games plan to reveal their new game at E3 this year, and despite Killzone Shadowfall selling over 2 million copies, it's definitely clear that the upcoming game will be a completely new IP.

Like all of Guerrilla Game's titles, the new IP will be exclusive to Sony, and will be developed for PlayStation 4, making it the second title Guerrilla Games will have on the console. Considering that Guerrilla Games have experience with the Killzone franchise, it could be possible that the new game offers some sort of shooter experience, but at this point in time there's no real way of knowing.

We'll have to wait for Guerrilla Games to unveil more information on their upcoming IP, but hopefully we will all be in for a treat this year at E3.

  • First DLC Pack Announced for Killzone Shadow Fall - And it's Free

    Killzone Shadow Fall Free DLC

Guerilla Games have gone down the Good Guy Game Developer route by deciding that they will still develop content for Killzone Shadow Fall after it's release, but instead of charging extra money for it, on top of the original game's cost, they have let players know that they will be releasing all of their DLC for free.

Whether or not this still counts as DLC is up for discussion, as it's most likely that the latest content update for Killzone Shadow Fall will be a compulsory download if players wish to play online.

However, instead of being a simple patch that fixes bugs and tweaks gameplay, it will add two new maps into the game, free of charge.

The first map has been called The Cruiser, and Guerrilla Games has described it as a "close to mid range combat map set in the confines of a decommissioned ISA cruiser."

The other map has been named The Hanger, and has been designed to be a much larger map. Guerilla described it as "a wide open map situated in the hangar bay of one of the Helghan's humongous mining spires."

It's great to see some developers that are not trying to milk their players completely dry, and I hope that the new generation of consoles will bring in more developers who focus on delivering a solid game experience instead of focusing on trying to add more digits into their bank accounts.
