Modded Xbox One Controller

  • Official Red Xbox One Controller Coming

red-xbox-one-controllerIn an interesting move to stand out from the crowd, Xbox has announced a bright and colorful red Xbox One controller.

The new all-red controller is expected to hit the online Xbox store from January 11. By all-red, we really mean it by the way. Everything from the accents on the buttons to the chassis and bumper buttons is red. The only hint of non-red is seen on the Xbox symbol, which remains white.

The new controller will be on sale for $64.99, and GameStop will also stock it, both online and in-store.

This isn't the first time Xbox has attempted to offer their customers new personalization options. In the past, they released the Xbox Design Lab, which allowed players to pick out their own colors for each part of an Xbox One controller.

Despite the selection of colors, the Xbox One Design Lab still can't trump our own Custom Controller Creator - we add a greater range of colors for selection, and also have a variety of decals and fancier graphics available for the main chassis. And let's not get started on the variety of features and mods that can make our controllers even more elite than the Elite controller itself.

We like where you're going Xbox, but you've still got a lot of catching up to do in the custom controller game.

Why not take a look at our custom controller creator to see how it compares to the Xbox Design lab? We'll be surprised if you disagree.

  • Gfinity Modern Warfare Remastered Invitational is Happening

modern-warfare-invitational-gfinityExciting news for OG Call of Duty fans. Gfinity has announced a $25,000 Modern Warfare Remastered invitational event.

The new tournament has been sponsored by HP Omen, which is a gaming laptop brand. As a result, the tournament will be played on PCs. Teams will have the option to use controllers or a mouse and keyboard. This may be a surprise to some, especially considering the accuracy gap between traditional controllers and a mouse.

The teams to take place in the event have yet to be announced, but we expect four picks from some of the best teams in the world. Whilst a $25,000 prize pool isn't massive, this being the first major cash tournament for Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered, makes it an important one to attend.

Invitational events will feature a number of teams that the event organizers have invited themselves. These events are often designed to gauge viewer interest, so the highest skilled teams are often invited to ensure great gameplay is showcased. If you'd like to see future Modern Warfare Remastered events, including cups that you and your own team could take part in, make sure to tune into the Gfinity invitational when it launches.

Gfinity wrote, "The OMEN Invitational will be held live at the Gfinity Arena on the 3rd of December, and will feature four of the world's most historic Call of Duty: Modern Warfare teams, as they compete for a slice of the $25,000 prize pool."

  • Battlefield 1 Fall Update Coming, Servers Going Offline

    battlefield-1-fall-update

The first big Battlefield 1 update will be coming soon and as a result, all live servers will be temporarily taken offline whilst the patch is applied.

EA has nicknamed the upcoming patch as the fall update and it will come with a number of useful changes. EA and DICE have both remained quite open about the future features they plan to release to Battlefield 1, but so far we're not sure which of the planned features will make it into the fall update. We may see the introduction of hardcore and fog of war modes, and we may also see a number of overall optimizations and gameplay improvements.

Whilst the servers will be going down for a short time, DICE has mentioned that the servers shouldn't be down for long - they've even opted to pick less busy hours to keep the outage complaints at a minimum. The outage, if all goes to plan, should last for just an hour. The outage times may differ depending on which platform you're using, but as a general guide, take a look at the listed times below to get an idea for when to keep yourself focused on another game instead.

PC: Multiplayer will be offline for 1h starting 08.00 UTC / 12.00 AM PT.
PS4: Multiplayer will be offline for 1h starting 10.00 UTC / 2.00 AM PT.
Xbox One: Multiplayer will be offline for 1h starting 12.00 UTC / 4.00 AM PT

  • Rainbow Six Siege 1.2 Patch Released

    rainbow six siege 1.2

A new patch for Rainbow Six Siege has hit the online servers for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One and it will be making a number of pretty significant changes to the game. The new patch is numbered 1.2 and it is the second major patch since the release of Rainbow Six Siege.

Besides a variety of different bug fixes, some improvements have been made to the servers to ensure that hit detection is improved and lag is reduced. Here is a description from Ubisoft about the server improvements.

"With the goal of improving positioning and shooting replication, we had deployed a first update on PC in which the player position update rate is set to 60 times per second (vs. the previous 30). This change however has been done in an intermittent fashion and in certain regions only, as we were testing various configurations. We are now satisfied with its state so we are now deploying this update to all PC users. As soon as this feature has been validated with this more massive test on PC, we will be deploying this update on consoles as soon as possible."

There have been a number of much needed changes to matchmaking too. Below are Ubisoft’s new priorities in matchmaking since patch 1.2.

+ Refining the quality of PVP matches with more evenly matched opponents

+ Adding a criteria that increases the odds of pre-made parties being matched against a squad with an equal number of pre-made parties within them.

+ Skill criterion originating from the player's region is now more precise.

  • Activision Says Call of Duty Remasters are Possible

    call of duty remaster

Whether you are looking forward to Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 or not, you can't deny that Activision has done a great job, alongside some of it's developers, to release a number of classic Call of Duty games in the past.

Some players may have the fondest of memories in Black Ops 1, whilst others remember spending their days on Modern Warfare 2. Some veterans out there may even tell you that their fondest memories were from Call of Duty 4.

Either way, there is a lot of nostalgia hiding in many of the older Call of Duty titles, and Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg understands that this is a great reason for remastered versions to be created.

Hirshberg mentioned that, "If done well, remasters can be great."

"You talk about nostalgia, and people have such connection to the games they love from the last cycle. They want to see what it would look like if someone did it right for this cycle."

Hirshberg even went on to say that a remastered collection for Call of Duty could certainly be possible, but it mainly comes down to whether Activision can have the time spare to focus on such a thing, instead of working on newer titles.

"We need everybody we can get to make the content we're already committed to for our new games. It's always a matter of finding great people to do that work. I would love to play Modern Warfare 1 or the original Black Ops. There's certainly a deep well there. No announcements, but it's something we talk about and think about a lot."

So, yes - a Call of Duty remastered collection? Activision are definitely thinking about it.

  • Microsoft's Xbox One Elite Controller Announcement

Screen_Shot_2015-06-15_at_12.56.43_PM.0Microsoft just announced their latest controller changes. They are introducing a brand new controller design that includes paddles, remappable buttons, swappable components, and trigger locks. All of these new enhancements are scheduled for release this Fall. Microsoft is gearing its new design towards the "elite gamers" and tournament level players. The paddles and remappable buttons should impact the competitive gaming scene dramatically.

It is unknown at the time if Sony will return with their own new controller design but we speculate that they will have to answer to Microsoft's controller. Sony already has remappable buttons but will they also add the paddles and trigger stops? We will have to wait and see how they decide to answer. If they want to stay ahead they will have to keep the competitive gamer in mind.

The new Xbox One controller design has the hardcore gamer in mind and will definitely be a hit. The price hasn't been discussed yet but with all the additional components it can easily break the $100 price point. • Upcoming Battlefield 4 DLC Will be Free

battlefield hardline dlcBattlefield 4 has already had a season pass but DICE aren't quite done with developing content for the game just yet. However, instead of charging players extra on top of all the other additional DLC costs already tied onto Battlefield 4, DICE has made the noble choice to release all of the future DLC content for free.

Whilst previous DLC will still cost players the same it does today, any new content created by DICE and released for Battlefield 4 from this day forwards will be absolutely free to all players.

So far there are a lot of details that haven't been shared by DICE, but we do know that they are working on some new maps, including night time maps. The night maps should be variants of previously released maps. So far we already know that Siege of Shanghai, Zavod 311, and Golmud Railway will be receiving nighttime variants. A new community-made map is also in the works and should be released for free in the not too distant future.

A new patch is planned for this Spring and it will come with some new content too. As well as fixing up some bugs, the Spring patch will add in five new weapons and the Gunmaster game mode.

For those new to the Battlefield series, Gunmaster plays out just like other Gun Games. You'll start with one weapon and each kill will reward you with a new weapon. There are seventeen weapons to get through until you finally get given the knife. A knife kill will end the game.

  • Call of Duty Havoc DLC Gets Release Date

call of duty havoc dlcIt has now been confirmed that the Call of Duty Havoc DLC, the first upcoming downloadable content pack for Advanced Warfare will be released on the 29th of this month. The new DLC pack will include a variety of new maps, as well as a few new additions, including a game mode brand new to Advanced Warfare.

The four maps have been named as Sideshow, Urban, Core and Drift. Sideshow looks to be shanty town based within a cargo ship, whilst Urban is a city area packed with buildings. Core takes place in a sandy drilling station and Drift is in a small snow town.

As well as the new maps, the Havoc DLC pack includes two new weapons, the AE4 Widowmaker, and a direct variation of the Widowmaker. Season pass holders were given the gun early, but those who buy the DLC without the season pass will still be able to pick up the gun when the DLC launches at the end of January.

The last piece of content, and perhaps most exciting in the Havoc DLC is the new exo zombies mode. It's expected that the exo zombies mode will be similar to the zombie modes in previous Call of Duty games, although we will most likely see the introduction of exo zombies, which run much faster than normal zombies, to the game mode in Advanced Warfare.

Are you looking forward to the Havoc DLC? I think the four maps will be great, and the new zombie mode just tops it off.

  • Huge Halo 5 Guardians Gameplay Video Released

halo 5 guardians gameplayA brand new video has just made it online that shows off a whole games worth of online content from 343 Industry's upcoming game, Halo 5 Guardians.

Straight away, it's clear that the gameplay has been evolved more so than any Halo game before it. The first thing that is noticeable is that a lot of elements from Halo 4 have been incorporated into Halo 5 Guardians, including the various power drops and the overall look and feel of the gameplay.

However, a lot of new things have been added to make the game feel more in-line with other AAA shooters on the market. For example, players can now dodge sideways, similarly to COD: Advanced Warfare, and players can also jump over objects in a similar style to Call of Duty games too.

A new aim-down sight feature has been added, although there is no negative effects to hip firing luckily enough.

If you are a long time Halo fan, you may not like what you see. Check out the multiplayer video here.

Do you think 343 Industries have taken Halo a little too far? It's nice to see change, but are they taking the wrong turns? We would love to hear your opinions on this subject. Unfortunately, 343 Industries are trying to win back the mainstream market, and they are doing this by making choices that change the game into something Call of Duty players will be able to relate to.

  • Advanced Warfare Gameplay Videos Leaked

advanced warfare multiplayer videosA brand new set of official gameplay videos for Advanced Warfare have leaked, each showing different elements of the multiplayer gameplay associated with the game. The first video shows off a brand new remote turret score streak reward. Players will be able to place down the turret, find a quiet place to hide, and then activate the turret to control it remotely.

In the second video, a new medal awarded in multiplayer is shown - the video shows a player getting into a large battlesuit and then killing a player to be rewarded with the "terminated" medal.

The third video also shows off a new medal in Advanced Warfare. This medal, named Death From Above, will reward players who manage to use their jumpsuit to leap above somebody's head and take them down with a knife kill whilst airborne.

The final video shows off the new remote turret score streak reward again - however this time it focuses on the turret weapons which can be ripped off of the turret and used on foot.

It will be interesting to see how all of the new score streak rewards and medals will impact gameplay - hopefully there won't be anything that completely breaks the flow of the game. We'll be able to see what new score streaks are in Advanced Warfare once the game has released on November 4th, 2014.

Advanced Warfare will be available for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Windows PC upon it's launch later this year.
