  • Dissidia Final Fantasy NT Beta Signups Open

dissidia final fantasy nt betaDissidia Final Fantasy NT is a video game that'll take the Final Fantasy franchise into new territory. It's a fighting game at heart, but it borrows some elements that you'd only recognize from past Final Fantasy games.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is set to officially launch on the PlayStation 4 next year. So far, the exact release date hasn't been confirmed. We do, however, now know that a beta is coming for the game that'll give players the chance to play Dissidia Final Fantasy NT early.

The signups for the closed beta are now live - you'll need to go to Square Enix's website to register your interest.

Square Enix hasn't yet confirmed the starting dates for the closed beta, either. We'd expect it to come sometime this year, though. We're not sure whether pre-ordering Dissidia Final Fantasy NT will give you instant access to the closed beta, but for now, it looks as if it'll only be limited to randomly selected people that sign up to the closed beta via Square Enix's website.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT isn't the only game that has featured Square Enix's fighting game format - we've seen two Dissidia games for the PSP in the past. The new Dissidia Final Fantasy NT will be the first time we've seen the concept being taken to console.

We're expecting Dissidia Final Fantasy NT to arrive in early 2018. We'll provide more details about it when we know more.

  • Pre-order the New Doom And Get Old Doom Games for Free

    new doom pre-order

If you are planning to pre-order the new Doom you may be happy to hear that you'll be receiving some additional benefits for doing so. Previously there has been no news about pre-orders for Doom and pre-ordering the game via the Xbox Game Store has not been possible so far. However, the Xbox Games Store in Australia had a little slip up and showcased the pre-order page for Doom shortly before being taken down again.

According to the Australian pre-order page for the new Doom, players will be able to receive versions of Doom 1 and Doom 2 for pre-ordering the upcoming title. It's likely that the Doom 1 and Doom 2 games that will be packed in as part of a pre-order bonus will be the same XBLA versions that are already available on the Xbox 360. Both versions are currently on sale for $5 each and backwards compatibility is already supported for both Doom 1 and Doom 2.

Giving away both arcade versions of Doom 1 and Doom 2 is a generous move by Bethesda and it's very simple for them to do. In fact, this is not the first time Bethesda has offered such a deal for pre-ordering a title. Players were previously rewarded a free digital copy of Fallout 3 for pre-ordering Fallout 4.

Other publishers have offered similar deals before as well - For example, Square Enix recently gave out free copies of Just Cause 2 to all players that pre-ordered Just Cause 3.

  • Life is Strange Final Chapter Release Revealed

    life is strange polarized

The last chapter of Life is Strange has finally received a release date. The final episode for Life is Strange has been named Polarized and it will be released on October 20.

There is one small twist, however. Because Polarized has not yet been completed, the Life is Strange developers cannot promise that the last episode will be finished by October 20. If everything goes to plan, however, players will definitely be able to get their hands on the final chapter on the aforementioned release date.

Square Enix has made a little mention of the release date on a blog post, further explaining why the October 20 release date is not 100% set in stone.

"We don't normally announce a date until we know the game is 100% ready but in the spirit of Max's birthday (today) we wanted to let you know early that we are aiming to release Episode 5 ‘Polarized’ October 20."

"Many things can change in the lead up to release but the team are working really hard to try and hit this date. We know the wait may be a bit longer than some of you were hoping for but we want to ensure Episode 5 is the best it can be."

Square Enix went on further by discussing their excitement for the final chapter.

"We are super excited for you to play the finale and we hope you enjoy the ride! We couldn't have foreseen the great reaction Life is Strange has had so far, the community is fantastic and we love seeing/reading your reactions to each episode."

  • Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster In the Works

final fantasy x HD ps4When it comes to any news about Final Fantasy, there are often a lot of mixed feelings. Whilst there are certain games in the franchise that many gamers have come to despite, there are also timeless classics that everybody adores, and one such game is going to be getting a new HD treatment in anticipation for a PlayStation 4 launch.

The game in question is Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD, and whilst this game has already had an HD remaster for the PS Vita and the PlayStation 3, it will be the first time this game has been ported over to the newest Sony console.

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD will be launched for the PlayStation 4 and it will be made available both from the PlayStation network and from within select brick and mortar retail stores early next year.

It is expected that the new HD remaster won't have many improvements over the previously released PS3 and PS Vita versions, although there may be some unexpected surprises. We will have to wait for the launch to see what Square Enix have planned for the HD remaster of Final Fantasy X/X-2.

Whilst many PS4 owners have been happy about the announcement of this particular remaster, Square Enix also announced that they have plans to bring Final Fantasy VII to the PlayStation 4 as well, and as expected, not so many players were happy about this one.

Many players have stated that they would much prefer to see a remake of Final Fantasy VI instead of VII - what are your thoughts on this?

  • Gameplay for Final Fantasy XV Released

final fantasy xv gameplayAt Tokyo Game Show this month, Square Enix revealed a gameplay trailer for their upcoming Final Fantasy title, FF XV.

Whilst the developers have been working on the latest Final Fantasy game since May 2006, it has been a while since we've heard much about being able to finally get our hands on Final Fantasy XV. However, the new gameplay trailer for Final Fantasy XV at the Tokyo Game Show revealed that players would be able to get access to a full one hour gameplay demo of the game.

Redemption codes for the game demo of Final Fantasy XV will be provided inside copies of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, and players will be able to redeem their game demo codes in March next year.

Whilst the main story will give players up to one hour of gameplay, Square Enix mentioned that the demo also comes with around 3 hours of other gameplay if the game demo is fully explored and each dungeon is visited.

The game demo will mainly focus on battling within the game, not giving player's much choice or exposure to the story or the RPG elements of Final Fantasy XV.

I'll have to say, from the gameplay trailer, Final Fantasy XV is looking very good, and I expect a lot of fans will be excited for the March 2015 game demo launch. Do you still have much interest for the Final Fantasy franchise after all these years, and if not, has the new gameplay video of Final Fantasy XV managed to impress you at all?

  • Rise of The Tomb Raider Will be Exclusive to Xbox

rise of the tomb raiderIn recent news, it has been revealed that the new upcoming Tomb Raider game, Rise of the Tomb Raider, will be released as an exclusive to Xbox consoles. This information was announced at Gamescom, along with a range of other details about Rise of the Tomb Raider.

Unfortunately, the Tomb Raider panel at Gamescom did not bring any light onto the gameplay we can expect from Rise of the Tomb Raider, but it did reveal that the game will be released in the holiday period of 2015, which is just over a year away.

On top of this, Microsoft made it abundantly clear that Rise of the Tomb Raider was going to be released as an Xbox One exclusive title, despite previous listings suggesting the game would be created for both the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One.

It could be very possible that Rise of the Tomb Raider will only be a timed exclusive for the Xbox One, and will be released to the PlayStation 4 later in the year. Either way, it's interesting to see this team up between Square Enix and Microsoft, and we can only expect to see more exclusivity deals like this in the near future.

Honestly, I think the introduction of third party exclusive titles is a little unfair; these choices are being made to sway new console owners to purchase one console over the other, and going to force enthusiast gamers to purchase both systems to enjoy the various new gen games that are released over the following years.

  • More Listings Suggest Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition for PS4 and Xbox One

sleeping dogs ps4A little while ago, a few listings popped up on the internet that suggested a brand new HD rendition for Sleeping Dogs was heading for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, but since that listing we haven’t heard anything official from Square Enix.

This week, that hasn't changed, however a brand new listing has appeared on Amazon, giving more details on what looks to be the Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition.

According to the new Amazon listing, Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition will cost $59.99, and will be released on December 31st, 2014. Pre-orders from Amazon are already available though, which almost confirms that the new HD remake of Sleeping Dogs is actually happening.

Whether or not the December 31st date is the actual launch date is unclear at this point in time - Amazon have been known to put inaccurate release dates on pre-order listings, however in most instances like this, the release date ends up being much sooner.

Not many details have been listed on the new Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition Amazon listing, however a limited edition art book packaging has been listed as a pre-order bonus for the game.

According to rumors, the $59.99 price tag for Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition will give players access to the full original 2012 game, along with $85 worth of previously released Sleeping Dogs DLC.

Hopefully we'll hear something a little more official from Square Enix in the next few weeks - in the meantime we only have Amazon's listing to go by.

  • Deus Ex Mankind Divided Trademarked by Square Enix

deus ex mankind divided]Square Enix has just grabbed the Trademark rights for the phrase "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided" in the United Kingdom, and this could mean we've got a new upcoming Deus Ex title to look for. The trademark was filed on March 27th, so it could still be a while before we see or hear anything else about this new Deus Ex game, however Square Enix and Eidos Montreal did reveal earlier in October 2013 that they do have plans to release a new Deus Ex title for the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One.

If you were enjoyed playing through Human Revolution, then you should be happy to hear that the upcoming Deus Ex game will be worked on by the same core team that worked through the last title, which was released in 2011.
Unsurprisingly, not much has been released for the new Deus Ex game, although there has been a concept art image showcased. (shown above.) Producer David Anfossi revealed that the art, "represents a 'ghetto-city' voluntarily built in order to separate the classes. The people in this segregated class have reshaped their environment, nostalgic for their ideal of Cyber Renaissance. This dark and dystopian vision sets the tone for things to come in Deus Ex."
If we’re lucky, we may see a little something of the upcoming Deus Ex game at this year's E3, if not, then Eidos and Square Enix should most likely have something to show us by the end of this year.
