    DEVASTATION 2011 was a blast!

Special Thanks to Jedi Robb for creating such an incredible event.

So many great industries were represented and everyone there had a chance to speak to some of the biggest names in professional gaming.

Justin Wong represented the Evil Geniuses in full force by winning both Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition and the Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3 tournament.

Professional gamer sWooZie was walking around the convention, taking pictures and talking to his fans on a personal level.

From last year, the event has grown dramatically. Evil Controllers had one of the largest booths there and we also featured an Xbox 360 give away in addition to our very own Mortal Kombat character, courtesy of Cosplayer Rosanna Rocha. Evil Controllers easily had one of the hottest booths there.

If you missed out this year you will want to make sure you buy your tickets for DEVASTATION 2012 next year. Over 50 events took place and everyone's favorite games were represented.

  • Call of Duty XP 2011

The newest installment in the Call of Duty series, Modern Warfare 3, has already created an enormous buzz throughout the gaming community. I am among those who are counting down the days till we can get our hands on a copy of the game, and get right down to business, CoD style. The new Call of Duty Elite system, along with the release of the new title are going to revolutionize the first-person shooter experience and the hype surrounding the game grows with every passing day.

Activision has recently announced that they are offering an exclusive event that allows gamers to be among the first to have a hands on experience with Modern Warfare 3. Call of Duty followers have the opportunity to travel to Los Angeles, CA and pay $150 for entry to Activisions Call of Duty XP 2011 exclusive event. The event is scheduled for the 2nd and 3rd of September, and as a gamer, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to play MW3 two months before the November 8th release date.

Once at the event, gamers will be able to get a first experience with Modern Warfare 3s multiplayer and spec ops modes, and a bracketed multiplayer tournament is being held for all attending. Without any of the other attractions and activities, this is enough to make me want to go, just for the simple pleasure of being among the first to experience the new game play of MW3. They are also offering live paintball matches, in arenas modeled after MW2 multiplayer maps, and I would be interested to see how my own online strategies transfer over to a live match on the MW2 map.

Another awesome part of Call of Duty XP 2011, you know, beyond getting to play and experience MW3, is that Activision is allocating all of the proceeds from the event to the Call of Duty Endowment. This program is dedicated to help transition veterans back into civilian life, and I would be honored to help out that cause.

Overall, the entire event looks amazing, and I would love to have an opportunity to go. Seeing the new game play, CoD Elite, the life-size MW paintball maps, and all the extra activities is an amazing opportunity for $150, and I think it is well worth the expense. So keep an eye out for more information regarding Call of Duty XP 2011, and do not waste any time securing your spot at the event.

  • The Booths of E3 2011

E3 2011 debuted some amazing new games, consoles, and accessories that are sure to be highly popular upon their respective releases. The line-up of companies that had booths was also stellar at this years convention, and some of the best combined the aesthetics of their booth with the prominence of their new products. The most prominent booth, in my opinion, was Nintendo for the depth of their new undertakings, and the awesome job they did designing their booth. With the announcement of the new Wii U console, and the new array of games, Nintendo was among the busiest of the booths. They had a full-day wait for people to play the new Wii U, denoting its immediate popularity, and the new Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword didnt hurt their appeal to the public, seeing as how the Zelda franchise is among the most popular in the gaming community.

Another company that had excellent taste and products was Calibur11, with a futuristic booth set up that looked like it could be from Tron. The giant white cube housed Calibur11s vault systems, which are console-housing systems that do not void the warranty of your console when installed. The Vault housing systems on display were an awesome addition to the atmosphere they created with their booth, as they featured some stunning graphics and awesome accessories. The combination of Calibur11s stunning booth, and the awesome products they had for viewing were more than enough to make the booth stand out in my mind.

Continuing with the theme of creative booths, Disney had a set up at this years convention that went above and beyond the normal bounds of E3 booths. Disney basically created a mini-community around their new products; the booth featured a coffee house, a pseudo-home, a park, and a game zone, all of which took the traditional booth layout to new heights. Disney created an environment that incorporated their line of products with the illusion of going about a normal day: going through your home, getting a cup of coffee, and walking through the park. By far, Disneys booth at E3 2011 was the most captivating.

E3 2011 presented the gaming public with a multitude of news games, consoles, and general goodies, while pushing the aesthetic appeal of the convention to a new plateau. While this years convention is still fresh in my mind, I cant help but wonder how the convention will evolve next year, and which companies are going to make the best presentations.
