  • First Titanfall DLC Coming in May

titanfall dlcRespawn Entertainment has just announced that Titanfall will be receiving its first DLC pack later this year, some time in May. The new DLC pack has been named Expedition, and Respawn announced the pack at a panel at PAX East last weekend.

At the panel, Respawn revealed that the new Titanfall DLC pack will include three new multiplayer maps, each with their own theme.

The first map to be included in the Expedition DLC pack is Swampland, which is a map that has been based off of 'archaic alien technology.' The second Expedition map has been named Runoff, and this will be a water based map, perhaps similarly to the lagoon map already in Titanfall.

The third and final map for the new Titanfall DLC has been called War Games and it is based off of the training simulator that players play through when first starting the game. Perhaps the most interesting map is Swampland, which, according to Respawn Entertainment, will include lots of tree running parkour opportunities.

The Expedition DLC pack will be available for $9.99 in May, however players with the $24.99 Season Pass will get access to it for free.

Respawn have also announced that they plan to include new burn cards and game modes in the future to all players free of charge. Respawn also plans to create limited game modes that are based off of the official game modes but have varying factors included to offer a fresh experience.

  • New Batman Arkham Origins DLC Announced

batman arkham origins dlcA brand new Batman Arkham Origins DLC pack has been announced by Warner Bros. Interactive, and along with it, Warner Bros. have released a screenshot to show Batman donning his brand new XE Suit. This particular outfit will be made available when the new DLC pack is purchased.

The new DLC, which has been named 'Cold Cold Heart' will add a few other things to the game as well, including a whole new chapter to explore in the game, and a bunch of new gear to help fight against Mr. Freeze and his army of goons.

Warner Bros. Games' Vice President of production Ames Kirshen revealed that the new upcoming DLC is "like a mini chapter in the game." He went on to state that, "If you guys played and saw Initiation, it was more like a challenge map that had a little narrative wrapped around it. This is actually in-game mission story content with a brand new story wrapped around Mr. Freeze in the Arkham Origins setting."

We've already heard a little bit about the Cold Cold Heart DLC pack, but this is the first time we've gotten an idea on the depth of the content included within the pack. This will be the first DLC expansion pack for Batman Arkham Origins that truly adds decent story and mission content into the game, so it will be exciting to get our hands on it. No details have been given yet on the length of the extra content, and for what price the content will be available for, however the Cold Cold Heart DLC expansion pack is set for release on April 22nd.

  • New DOOM Game Beta Will be Current Gen Only

doom betaIt's been known for a while now that the upcoming Wolfenstein title, The New Order, will come packed with beta access for a brand new DOOM game that is currently in the works and being published by Bethesda.

However, so far details on the beta, it's availability and the platforms it will run on have been pretty unclear. This week, we've uncovered a bit more information about the beta, and it has now been announced that the DOOM beta will only be available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

To get beta access, gamers must pre-order a copy of Wolfenstein: The New Order. As expected, a PS4 pre-order will allocate the owner a PS4 beta key, an Xbox One copy pre-order will allocate the owner an Xbox One beta key, and pre-ordering for the PC will grant owners a beta key for the PC version of doom.

It has also been revealed that players will need an active Xbox Live Gold membership to play DOOM online, but PlayStation 4 owners will get off the hook, as they will not need a PS Plus membership to give the DOOM beta a spin.

So far, the beta release date has not been revealed, and at this point we couldn't make a decent estimate, but it's likely to be between the release of Wolfenstein and some time next year. A FAQ was created to give a bit more clarification. It stated that, "Although you'll receive the Doom beta key code with your copy of Wolfenstein: The New Order, the Doom beta won't begin until a later, yet-to-be announced date. We will be providing more information on the specific content and duration of the beta test at a later time."

  • New Forza 5 Update Makes DLC Cars Free in Garage

forza 5 free dlcA few changes have just gone live for the DLC car system currently in place for Forza 5, and it will have a few effects on gameplay.

One of the biggest changes is that from now on, when a player purchases a DLC car, that car will arrive instantly in their garage, as opposed to the system beforehand that required players to buy the car both with real money as a DLC pack, and with in-game currency after purchasing the DLC.

Turn10 creative director Dan Greenawalt gave a bit of information in this change, "As of today, players who have purchased DLC cars in Forza Motorsport 5 can add those cars to their Forza 5 garage immediately, at no additional in-game cost. And moving forward, when you buy a Car Pass, a DLC car pack, or a single DLC car, you will be granted the one-time free addition of each car to your Forza 5 garage, without needing to purchase them with in-game credits or tokens."

"This goes for all current Forza Motorsport 5 DLC (including cars in previous DLC car packs) and it will be the case for all future Forza 5 DLC car packs."
This will mean players will get garage access to any DLC cars that were purchased before this change. On top of the DLC system, Turn10 have added the much requested car rental options. All 200 cars that were available at launch can now be rented out.

  • Titanfall DLC Could Include Monsters

titanfall dlc new monstersAccording to Respawn Entertainment community manager Abbie Heppe, Titanfall's upcoming DLC content could include some creatures and monsters that may allow players to discover the various alien species within the lore of the game.

Despite three DLC packs in the works, it seems as if Titanfall aren't yet 100% sure what the three packs will consist of, but we all know new maps will be included. When asked about aliens and monsters, Heppe stated that, "We are going to have maps added, and we're trying to give players as much of a varied look at things as we can so that is definitely a possibility."

Many maps in Titanfall already have various creatures and spaceships in the background that can be killed for extra experience so it's possible that the DLC maps will make similar creatures more of a focus, instead of just a background element.

Whatever content the DLC packs include, Respawn seem to be keen on allowing players to explore the world of Titanfall even further, and it could be possible that these DLC packs will included more scripted content, similar to the current campaign offering available already.

As for other content, Titanfall DLC will most likely not include any new Titans, as Heppe has admitted that it's a huge undertaking to integrate a new Titan that is both a useful asset to the game and balanced enough to not be either underpowered or overpowered.

It could be possible that we see more weapons or pilot equipment though.

  • Private Lobbies and Companion App Coming for Titanfall

A scene from "Titanfall," a promising new game for the Xbox and Windows PCs.
Despite the game being already available for purchase, Respawn Entertainment's executive producer, Drew McCoy, has revealed that they have plans to include a few new features for Titanfall free of charge.

One of these features will be the inclusion of private lobbies, which will allow players to play outside of a matchmaking lobby. This will open up a bunch of new opportunities for Titanfall, from competitive matches to machinima. Private lobbies are definitely something that the game needs so I'm excited to see them being integrated into the game.

The second upcoming feature mentioned by McCoy is a companion app for Titanfall. The companion app had already been planned alongside the game's development, but it has since been delayed. Drew McCoy has stated that the companion app is coming soon, although he hasn't detailed what the app will actually be capable of doing.

Finally, McCoy has touched on the subject of adding new game modes. He has revealed that although new game modes are on the drawing board, it's not likely we'll see any new modes for a while. This suggests that they'll either be bundled in with upcoming DLC, or they will be made available in future Titanfall games.

Titanfall adds a whole host of new game mechanics that other FPS games have never seen before, so it's understanding why Respawn have to be extra certain everything is balanced before integrating anything new into the game. This seems to be the case with any new weapons, titans and game modes.

  • Four New COD Ghosts DLC Packs Released

new COD ghosts dlc][new COD ghosts dlc

Activision has just released four new DLC content packs for Call of Duty Ghosts that will be separate from the season pass. All four packs are small additions to the game that only change cosmetics, and they have all been released and been made available for purchase since the start of this week.

The four packs have been named 'personalization packs' and they include a few new items to change the appearance of your squad members in-game.

The first pack is the Makarov Legend Pack. This pack allows players to don the appearance of Vladimir Makarov, one of the most well known villains in the whole of Call of Duty. On top of the multiplayer Makarov skin, the Makarov Legend Pack comes with a themed weapon camo, a new reticle, a player patch, playercard and background. This pack can be picked up for $3.99

The second pack is the Zakhaev Special Character pack. This pack also includes another Call of Duty villains. This pack only includes a skin, and can be picked up for $1.99.

The last two packs are also two skin packs; the Hazmat Special Character for $1.99, and the Rorke Special Character for $1.99.

If you haven't been that interested in COD Ghosts, rumors suggest that there will be a demo made available this month for players to give the game a go before buying. No details yet on when the demo will be made available, but it's likely to be running over a weekend, and will end on the following Monday.

  • First Screenshot of Naval Strike DLC for BF4 Released

    naval strike dlc bf4

Just as the player appreciation month for Battlefield's players comes to an end, DICE has released a brand new screenshot to show off the upcoming Battlefield 4 DLC pack, which has been named Naval Strike.

The new DLC pack has been scheduled to launch later this month, although Battlefield Premium players will be able to access the content two weeks before any other players. As the name Naval Strike suggests, the DLC will be filled with content focused on a water-filled theme.

This DLC pack will include four new maps set in the South China Sea. All four levels will have some element of water based combat, however, it's unclear what these maps will actually consist of.

On top of the four new maps, the Naval Strike DLC pack will also come with five new weapons, a new amphibious hovercraft vehicle that has been shown in the released Naval Strike screenshot, and a new mode called Carrier Assault. This game has been rumored to be similar to Titan mode in Battlefield 2142, where players have the sole objective to destroy the other players airship.

Considering that the Naval Strike DLC is water-based, it's likely the airships will be replaced with airship carriers or other large ships.

Naval Strike is the first DLC planned for this year, and DICE plan to release four more by the end of Summer 2014 - players can save money and access the content earlier by purchasing the $50 Battlefield Premium pack.

  • New DLC May Make Alucard Playable in Castlevania 2

Lord of Shadows 2 DLC][Lord of Shadows 2 DLC

The new Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2 video game has been fairly enjoyable, and I've actually been surprised at how much I've enjoyed playing through the game revival. However, unlike it's older predecessors, Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2 lives in an age filled with DLC and extra content, so to get the most fun out of the experience, we'll have to wait for Konami to release their planned DLC packs.

According to a forum member on CS.RIN.RU by the name of UbiSergei, the first Lords of Shadow 2 DLC pack will be called Revelations, and it may allow players to play as Alucard. The story of the DLC will let players discover a new plotline and understand "the true extent of Alucard's involvement."

Alucard has been in the Castlevania series since Castlevania 3, so it'll be interesting to see how big fans will react to being able to play as the character. In Lords of Shadow 2, Alucard's father, Dracula, plays a pretty large role in the plotline, so it'll be interesting to see where the Revelations DLC may take us.

For those more interested in the gameplay content instead of the story, the Revelations DLC is expected to come filled with "rich new environments and challenging puzzles" as well as various different creatures for Alucard to fight.

As this information is all unofficial at this point, it's best to take it all with a little grain of salt until we hear something more official from the game's creators.

  • Xbox One Gets Another Cut in UK

    xbox one titanfall bundle

Last week it was revealed that the Xbox One Titanfall bundle will be getting a 30 Euros discount in the UK, bringing the price of the next gen console slightly closer to the PlayStation 4's price. However, at the time, it was clear that the PlayStation 4 was still a better deal, and despite the price drop from 430 to 399 Euros, the Xbox One Titanfall bundle still wasn't cheap enough to sway any PlayStation gamers to the Microsoft side of the fence.

This week, GameStop has decided to bump it up a notch by reducing the Xbox One's price as well, bringing the console price even lower than the original price cut. The console bundle has now been reduced another 30 Euros, making the console price 369 Euros.

This bundle also comes packed with a digital copy of Titanfall, a standard controller, the Kinect sensor, and of course the console as well. The Titanfall standard SKU will also come with a headset for talking on Xbox LIVE, and a 1 month free trial of Xbox LIVE Gold.

Unfortunately these price drops are still only in effect in the United Kingdom, however if you're living elsewhere, you may be able to pick up a free digital copy of Titanfall if you purchase a new Xbox One after March 11th. This is part of a new deal to make the Xbox One more accessible to anybody that just can't keep their hands off of Titanfall.

If you don't want to splash out on a new console, you could always wait for the Xbox 360 release of Titanfall, which is planned for March 25th.
