  • Limited Edition Halo 5 Xbox one Console Planned

halo 5 xbox one consoleHalo has always been a big Xbox seller, so it's not really surprising that Microsoft and 343 Industries are planning to release a limited edition Halo 5 themed Xbox One console that will come with a copy of the upcoming game.

So far we have very few details about the limited edition Halo 5 console, although we know that it is definitely coming. The news was revealed on Twitter by Josh Holmes, the studio head for Halo 5: Guardians.

Details about the limited edition console are bound to come at some point closer to the release of Halo 5. We'll be able to find out about how much the Halo 5 themed console will cost and also what it will look like. It makes sense that the console will be available on the same day Halo 5: Guardians is, which is October 27. Pre-orders for the console should hopefully open a little earlier than October 27.

Two other limited edition versions of Halo 5: Guardians have already been confirmed, with details about those being more beefy. The first version is the $100 edition which comes with "new digital content to enhance Spartan combat and exclusive items wrapped in a uniquely designed steel book."

A much pricier $250 version is also being released. The $250 edition of Halo 5 Guardians will come with the same features as above, along with a numbered statue. Here's to wondering whether there will be an even more ultimate edition with the statue, limited edition content and the Halo 5 console.

  • New Limited Edition Diamond Plated Rare Loot Box Specially Crafted for the Best of Borderlands fans

    New Borderlands Edition

Usually you don't see re-releases for video game titles until a good 10 or so years after a games release, often in celebration for an anniversary of other accomplishment the video game may have achieved the developer, but it seems Gearbox doesn't want to wait years before their Borderlands series becomes a classic and instead they've wanted to release a new purchasable special edition that includes a whole load of features to make a Borderlands fan happy.

At PAX East, Gearbox announced the Borderlands 2 Swag-filled Limited Edition Diamond Plate Loot Chest and its release date set for June. When Borderlands 2 was first released, gamers could get their hands on the Ultimate Chest Loot Box Edition, and the new Swag Filled edition seems to give those who previously didn't manage to purchase a loot box a second chance, included with extra in-game items and memorabilia.

Although the loot box is quite similar to the previous one when it comes to shape and size, the newly announced box has a few different features to set it apart, specifically the color scheme and main design of the box innards.

Inside the box the following can be found:

    • Diamond Plate Loot Chest
    • Loot Chest Certificate of Authenticity
    • A rare vacuform Goliath mask w/SHiFT code that unlocks the head in-game
    • 20 Trading cards with SHiFT codes that unlock Legendary items in game
    • Vault Hunters Wanted Poster
    • Window Decals for Hyperion, Jakobs, Maliwan, and more

A copy of Borderlands 2 won't be included to avoid fans having to pay for more than two copies of the game, and the items included could change slightly before its release in June.

There are also only 5,000 total boxes being manufactured, all of which will cost those that are interested $99.99.

  • Halo 4: Limited Edition

    Limited Edition Halo 4

The Limited Edition for Halo 4 has been revealed for pre-order and is priced at $99.99. There will be no Legendary Edition for Halo 4 which in my opinion makes the purchase decision much simpler. Either we decide to get the standard retail game or the Limited Edition with the added bonuses.

Let's take a look at what has been confirmed to be included in the Limited Edition.

    • War Games Map Packs - the competitive multiplayer modes in Halo 4 will be termed War Games. Owning the Limited Edition will give players access to all three map packs that will be released in the future, as soon as they are made available on Xbox Live. Each of these map packs contains 3 locations, so in total players will receive a total of 9 maps.

    • Specializations - something called specialization has been incorporated in to the multiplayer and will be available on Xbox Live upon Halo 4's launch. Everyone will have access to select specializations, but Limited Edition owners will get the ability to unlock 6 of the specializations early on. These specializations can be used one at a time and will allow players to achieve higher ranks in their Spartan career. Aside from gaining access to new ranks, specializations will also unlock more customization options.

    • UNSC Infinity Briefing Packet - the briefing packet will contain a schematic for Spartan armor customization, information about UNSC weapons, information about the ship UNSC infinity and other info that will give an insight in to what it means to be a Spartan-IV.

    • Bonus Digital Content - Limited Edition will also provide access to exclusive in-game content via Xbox Live. In-game contents include -  unique Spartan-IV armor skin, unique skin for Assault Rifle, exclusive emblem, and Spartan-IV armor and props for Xbox Live Avatar.

    • Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn Special Edition - Players will also get access to the special edition of the 90-mintue live action web series that will provide a backstory to the events leading up to Halo 4. The special edition will come with bonus content depicting how the producers brought Halo 4 to life and also the making-of Halo 4.

  • New Digital Bundles and Collector Editions for Assassin's Creed 3

New downloadable bundles have been made available for the upcoming Assassin's Creed 3. The Gold Edition is currently available at the EU Playstation store and is priced at £109.99. This edition includes Assassin's Creed 3, Assassin's Creed: Liberation for the PS Vita and a Season Pass that gives one full access to all additional DLC upon release, including an exclusive discount on all upcoming digital content, additional single-player missions and multiplayer packages.

There are two more version of the Gold Edition available as well, one without Liberation (supposedly for players without a PS Vita) and the other without the Season Pass (for those who don't want all the DLC). Both of these editions are priced at £84.99. All the versions include the extra mission "A Dangerous Secret" also available with the GAME - exclusive Special Edition.

To make matters more confusing there are more expensive collector's editions available. The top tier version, called the Freedom Edition, comes with a 9-inch Connor figurine, steel book case, George Washington's Notebook, two additional single player missions (Ghost of War and Lost Mayan Ruins) and the multiplayer package - Sharpshooter.

The other version (a bit cheaper) is called the Join or Die Edition and that comes with basically the same things except for a few changes. It will fashion a different packaging and Connor's figurine is replaced by Connor's Medallion, and you will only get the Ghost of War single player missions. Finally there is the Special Edition which just comes along with exclusive single player mission - A Dangerous Secret. So as you can see, you have to get two of these editions to get all additional single player missions although, they should become available for download later on.

Currently these bundles have only been announced for Europe but, soon enough should be announced for the US as well. I mean come on, the game is based around the American Revolution, some sort of bundle will definitely be announced soon enough. Well I never really bother with these fancy editions and just stick to the game itself. But what do you guys think? Are you willing to cough up the dough to get your hands on one of these bad boys or would you rather grab the game and save your money for a nicely modded controller?

  • Canada's Future Shop gives out bandages for pre-orders of Gears of War 3

Future Shop to give out Gears of War 3 bandages as a pre-order bonus.

When you pre-order or purchase the special edition of games like Gears of War or Call of Duty, usually you get some extra content like in-game unlocks or costumes and/or you get some real life content like a RC camera car (which you got from you pre-ordered the specialized edition of Call of Duty: Black Ops). Well Future Shop (Canada's answer to Best Buy) decided to add something different to the amount of swag you get for pre-ordering Gears of War 3, bandages.

That's right. You get someGears of War 3 bandages at Future Shop if you pre-order the Gears of War 3. Upon pre-order you will receive a special "Curb Stomp First Aid Kit" which is a specially designed box of 24 GOW3 inspired bandages. Which it is a great collector's item, as it could come in hand if you somehow cut yourself while playing Gears of War 3. How one finds a way to hurt themselves while playing Epic's newest release is a mystery to me.

This bonus swag is completely separate from the Limited and Epic editions of the game (the editions that include things like art books and aminiaturizedMarcus Fenix) but they do stand out as one of the oddest pre-order oddities there is in video game history. It's up there with the deku tree seeds you got for pre-ordering Ocarina of Time in Greece.
