  • Gears of War 4 Gets Teased Mocap Image

gears of war 4 mocap imageWe all know a new Gears of War game is coming, there's no doubt about it. It's one of the few franchises that really helped to serve the Xbox 360 a great deal of popularity, and many fans are ready to see a new Gears game.

Whilst we haven't really had any full official details about Gears of War 4, we'll occasionally hear bits of information from developers working on the game, and that is exactly what happened this week.

Whilst the Gears of War Marcus Fenix collection was unfortunately confirmed as a false rumor by Black Tusk's producer Rod Fergusson, he did mention that they may have something special to show us at E3 later this year.

To follow on with that, Jack Felling a developer at Black Tusk Studios, shared an image on Twitter that had the caption "Last day of the shoot... One of the actors in a mocap suit! #MotionCapture #Props #MarkerBalls @GearsofWar"

It's clear that Black Tusk have been working on a new Gears of War game, and the latest news suggesting that motion capture has been almost finished up is great to hear. E3 is only a few months away now, so hopefully we'll see some kind of official reveal once the gaming event is upon us. Until then we'll just have to be patient and hope that the developers at Black Tusk reveal some other information about the new Gears of War game.

  • Bungie Details their Plans for New Destiny Update

destiny updateBungie have revealed details to release a new patch that will add new content and create a stepping stone between now and the House of Wolves DLC planned for later this year. All details for the update have not yet been given, but Bungie have revealed a number of features we can expect to see when the update is released.

The new update details, as seen on Bungie's blog, can be seen below. We can expect to see these changes in the new update.

Vault Space - We know you need more space to collect all the treasures you gain from your missions, and more gear is on the way.
Raid Fixes - There are times when Atheon and Crota can be uncooperative, so we're tackling their worst bugs.
Audio and Visual - Not everyone wants to see or hear a game the same way, which is why we’re looking at providing more options.
PVP Ammunition - The Crucible team wants to change the way ammo crates dictate the flow of a battle.
Strikes - The numbers tell us that there are some missions that are successfully completed far less than others, inspiring us to look at why people quit.

Community manager David Dague also talked about how Bungie go about working on Destiny and improving the experience for the playerbase. "Ever since Destiny went live, there have been various teams at Bungie," Dague mentioned.

"We're all working on Destiny, but different teams have goals for different projects.

"We've specialized to meet the needs of this sprawling community. Each class of developer has a specific focus. Some of them are creating new adventures for your Guardian - those both revealed and still secret."

The exact release for the new update has not yet been planned, but we'll probably hear more about it in the near future.

  • New Killer Instinct Season 2 gets Aganos Next Week

killer instinct season 2 aganosMicrosoft have just revealed a brand new trailer, showing off a new character planned for season 2 of Killer Instinct on the Xbox One. The character, named Aganos, is a war golem who pretty much dwarves every other fighter in the franchise.

As you can imagine, a lot of Aganos' move set is based around elemental attacks that use rocks and stones to his advantage. For example, Aganos can force stone to rise from the ground before picking up the forged stone and using it as a weapon to club his opponents with.

In lore, Aganos is set out on a mission to destroy Kan-Ra, who also made an appearance in season 2 of Killer Instinct. Kan-Ra is a character inspired by an ancient egyptian mummy, and I think his skill set will be a very interesting match up against Aganos.

Right at the end of the trailer, a teaser for yet another character was noticed. It seems clear that the next character for Killer Instinct on the Xbox One will be Onryo, a ghost of Japanese origin. Onryo wields a large pole arm or lance as a primary weapon.

I'm honestly a lot more excited about Aganos, which is great because he will be available to everybody who owns the Ultra Edition of Killer Instinct on the 27th of February. Those who own the Combo Breaker Edition will be able to play Aganos on March 5th, just shy of one week after his debut on the latest version of Killer Instinct.

  • New Achievements Released for Sunset Overdrive

sunset overdrive achievementsInsomniac Games have just added three new achievements to Sunset Overdrive which will award players a total of 75 Gamerscore points once unlocked.

The new achievements are aimed towards hardcore players that have completely pushed Sunset Overdrive to the limits. All three achievements will be awarded once they get a certain amount of points across three different stages. Below, we have posted the achievement details.

Hardcore!: Buck National vs The Apocalypse: Beat the score of 600,000 on the Challenge "Buck's National vs The Apocalypse."
Hardcore!: Buck Strikes Back: Beat the score of 564,500 on the Challenge "Buck's Strikes Back."
Hardcore!: Buck Stops Here: Beat the score of 703,700 on the Challenge "Buck's Stops Here."

To celebrate the new achievements added to the game, Microsoft have also reduced the price of Sunset Overdrive for a short time. If anybody is interested in picking up Sunset Overdrive, you may want to head to the Xbox Games Store as it can currently be purchased for 40% off it's original price.

The 40% off sale only applies to the digital version of Sunset Overdrive, and currently Microsoft are the only ones to put the game on sale. The last update to Sunset Overdrive was in December - at the time Insomniac Games had released their first DLC pack for the game.

The first Sunset Overdrive DLC was an expansion pack named Mooil Rig. There are more DLC expansions planned to release in the following months, all of which can be picked up for free if you have purchased the Sunset Overdrive season pass.

  • Forza Motorsport 6 Is Coming

forza motorsport 6It looks like Turn 10 have been busy. The next iteration in the lineup of Forza Motorsport games has been announced. Forza Motorsport 6 will be launching exclusively on Xbox One, and Microsoft have teamed up with Ford to give the new Ford GT a starring role in the game.

Whilst we weren't expecting such an early announcement of Forza 6, Microsoft took to the North American International Auto Show to announce the new game, and it's clear that the Ford GT will be the car to feature on the cover of the upcoming game by Turn 10.

The release of Forza Motorsport 6 will mark the tenth year anniversary of the game series, so as you can imagine, Turn 10 are feeling like doing something pretty special with the game. Alan Hartman, studio manager for Turn 10 mentioned that, "When we first were doing these, it would be kind of like, 'Hey please, can we have that new car you showed in Detroit?' That's where we were back 10 years ago. But over the last three or four years, the involvement with the manufacturers has really changed. They have really come to recognize that this is a very important venue for them,"

So as you can imagine, manufacturers are now reaching out to games developers like Turn 10 to have their vehicles featured in their racing games. I think it's a nice transition in the game industry, and it shows that games are just enough of a powerful medium to translate ideas and products like any other.

Let's just hope this new deal with Ford will allow Turn 10 to put more into the base game and less into extra DLC content like they have done with Forza Motorsport 5.

  • Digital Pre-orders for Evolve Will Reward Players Free Content

digital evolve pre-ordersIf you are looking to buy Evolve, you may want to consider getting a pre-order in. The developers of Evolve have just announced that the game has gone gold, and to celebrate they are offering some in-game rewards for anybody that chooses to pre-order the digital copy of the game.

If you pre-order the digital version of Evolve on the Xbox One, you will be given free access to the open beta that is going to take place on January 15th. This beta will included one monster named Wraith, and four hunters, named Parnell, Abe, Caira and Cabot.

As well as having a little sneaky access to this content in the beta version of Evolve, players who pre-order the digital version of the game for Xbox One will also be given the same five characters at launch for free, straight from day one.

Those who do not pre-order Evolve, or who play on another platform, will need to unlock the aforementioned characters to be able to play as them.

This seems like a nice deal for those who want to support the game by pre-ordering, but it oddly is only available for digital pre-orders. If you have already pre-ordered a physical copy then you will not be given early access to the five hunters and the one monster once the game has launched later this year.

Do you think it's smart for Microsoft to offer a deal such as this, or do you think they should open up the pre-order bonuses to all versions and platforms of Evolve?

  • Halo Spartan Ops Added to MCC

halo spartan ops mccWhilst we all rightly presumed that the Master Chief Collection was going to be released with all of the content from previous games at launch, 343 Industries has been very far behind with development, due to server issues and other problems with the new Halo 2 anniversary multiplayer.

As a result, many in-game features and content of the Master Chief Collection has been unavailable since launch, including the Spartan Ops missions that were released as part of Halo 4.

The Spartan Ops missions were a set of in-game objectives that followed a set story and played out like the firefight game type in both Halo: Reach and Halo 3: ODST did. Unlike firefight, Spartan Ops were specially designed to delve into the story that took place whilst the Master Chief was floating about in space, and many players have complained that they are an incredibly important part of Halo 4.

Fortunately enough, 343 Industries have just launched Spartan Ops for the Master Chief Collection in a new patch, and it contains all of the episodes from Halo 4 right at launch - this is a total of 10 co-op based episodes that can now be accessed from the Halo 4 section of the Master Chief Collection.

If you didn't play through the Spartan Ops episodes on the Xbox 360 due to 343's strange release schedule for them, then you should definitely give them a go now that they are on the Xbox One, especially if you are a fan of the Halo universe and it's story.

  • Killer Instinct 1 Gets Online Multiplayer

killer instinct 1 onlineRecently, Microsoft pushed out an Xbox One port of Killer Instinct 1 as part of the new season for the latest Killer Instinct game on the console, and now they are putting a little bit of love into it to pay homage to all those that played the original Killer Instinct on the Super Nintendo.

In a new patch, that has recently gone live, Killer Instinct 1 now has online multiplayer capabilities, and players can jump in game to play against other players from across the world. As well as the new online features, Microsoft added a few new changes to Killer Instinct 1, all of which can be read in the patch notes below.

    - We updated the front page of Ultra-combo.com. If you scroll down to the Season 1 Changelist, you can now see an image of the Story Mode Mural!
    - Riptor's correct Ultra Music is not playing because of a bug. We're trying to fix that via patch before the next Content Update.
    - When you unlock a Story Mode XP bonus, that XP is Player XP only (not Character XP also).
    - There is a known issue with Story Mode XP sometimes unlocking, but not depositing. We're investigating a fix for that as well.

These new changes to Killer Instinct 1 come hand in hand with the recent announcement of the reintroduction of Riptor to the latest Killer Instinct game in season 2. Riptor is a part human part velociraptor, who made his first appearance in Killer Instinct 1.

  • Rumors Stir Around New Rare AAA Game

It's always exciting to hear what Microsoft's best development studio, Rare is up to these days. They have made classics like Banjo Kazooie and Viva Pinata, and have also thrown out dozens of other playful games suitable for the whole family.

Rare's most recent attempts have been within the world of Kinect, and they have released a various of sports and other active games compatible with the Kinect for the Xbox 360. Unfortunately, most gamers weren't really interested in Rare when all of their effort went into these kind of games, but in a new light, Microsoft has realized that Rare deserves to be doing something a bit more exciting with their time.

Que dozens of rumors now spreading the internet because of a small job listing Rare has posted on their website following the development shift for the studio. On the job listing, it states that Rare are looking for an animator that has "high quality animation skills that include movement in bipedal animation, quadruped and facial animation."

The two things here that have sparked a lot of talk are the words "bipedal and quadruped." Whilst animation for a two legged character is fairly normal, "quadruped" suggests that Rare may be planning to create a big bunch of four legged characters in their next upcoming AAA game.

Honestly, it could be anything, but it sounds as if Rare are looking for animators to create animals. Does this mean we will see another Viva Pinata game? Or maybe a brand new Banjo Kazooie? It is hard to say, but it's possible it could be either of these or something entirely different.

  • Huge Halo 5 Guardians Leak - Aim Down Sight Myths Squashed

Halo 5 Guardians ADSSo far, Microsoft have managed to keep things about Halo 5 Guardians pretty quiet, and the only content about the game that we have learned about in the past has come straight from Xbox themselves. However, over the weekend, a massive leak showing video footage of Halo 5 hit the internet, and it stirred a frenzy.

Whilst the leak has pretty much been wiped from the web as of writing, the internet never forgets, and we can all still recall what the video displayed. The gameplay showed a few seconds of combat, focusing on a player using a Battle Rifle.

What was clear right away was the changes that had seemed to be made to the ADS in Halo. Ever since Combat Evolved, ADS has been limited to scoped weapons like sniper rifles and battle rifles, and the strange new battle rifle ADS in Halo 5 Guardians confused many players into thinking that ADS would be the norm in the upcoming Halo game.

However, a 343i official responded to the leak on Twitter and stated that ADS will not be the norm in Halo 5 Guardians. The tweet was as follows.

"No penalty to hip fire in H5, no movement penalty when scoping/zooming, no flinch. Tune in for the beta gameplay reveal at #HaloFest Monday."
