  • Huge Halo 5 Guardians Leak - Aim Down Sight Myths Squashed

Halo 5 Guardians ADSSo far, Microsoft have managed to keep things about Halo 5 Guardians pretty quiet, and the only content about the game that we have learned about in the past has come straight from Xbox themselves. However, over the weekend, a massive leak showing video footage of Halo 5 hit the internet, and it stirred a frenzy.

Whilst the leak has pretty much been wiped from the web as of writing, the internet never forgets, and we can all still recall what the video displayed. The gameplay showed a few seconds of combat, focusing on a player using a Battle Rifle.

What was clear right away was the changes that had seemed to be made to the ADS in Halo. Ever since Combat Evolved, ADS has been limited to scoped weapons like sniper rifles and battle rifles, and the strange new battle rifle ADS in Halo 5 Guardians confused many players into thinking that ADS would be the norm in the upcoming Halo game.

However, a 343i official responded to the leak on Twitter and stated that ADS will not be the norm in Halo 5 Guardians. The tweet was as follows.

"No penalty to hip fire in H5, no movement penalty when scoping/zooming, no flinch. Tune in for the beta gameplay reveal at #HaloFest Monday."

  • Xbox One Will Get 'Crazy' 2015 Lineup

It obviously makes sense for any person in Phil Spencer's position to do all they can to promote the greatness of the Xbox One, but it's not all words - apparently we will be seeing a 'crazy' lineup next year for Microsoft's newest console.

Phil Spencer said in a recent podcast that, "Looking at production schedules and how things are lining up, next fall is just crazy,"

"This fall from a first party/third party standpoint is great. Next fall, honestly it's not hype at all, I honestly don't know that we can actually ship all the stuff that thinks it's trying to ship next fall. It just might be too crowded and we might purposely try to move some things out to spread it."

We already know all about how busy Fall can be for the gaming industry, but it sounds as if Phil Spencer and the Xbox crew have so many games lined up for this time next year that they'll find it hard to fit them all in.

Honestly, this is just the news we want to hear about, and it will be even better if the developers of these games work on pushing out releases all throughout the year, although undoubtedly Fall is going to be the biggest season for gaming as per usual.

We don't know about everything that is lined up, but Halo 5: Guardians is coming, along with the new Tomb Raider, and even Quantum Break.

  • Phil Spencer Teases Two Old Franchise Revivals

phil spencer franchisesIn a recent interview, Phil Spencer revealed some information about Microsoft's plans to bring back two old franchises from the older generation Xbox consoles.

In the interview, the following games were mentioned to Phil Spencer : Alan Wake, Banjo Kazooie, Blinx the Time Sweeper, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Fusion Frenzy, Halo Wars, High Heat Baseball, Kameo, Knights of The Old Republic, MechAssault, Otogi and Shenmue.

Phil Spencer was then asked if any of the prior mentioned games were ever going to receive new installations for the Xbox One, and Phil responded with a very exciting answer -

"There are a couple games on that list that we're doing some work on. I'll just say that. People should know that we listen to feedback, we have ideas, and there are franchises in the past we think would be great to come again."

In my opinion this is great news - the Xbox has had many great exclusive titles over the last decade, and many of them have been left behind for newer franchises. Whilst it's great to hear a couple of franchises are coming back, it's also equally as frustrating that Phil Spencer did not reveal exactly what games will be returning.

All of the games on the list were worth another chance, but there are some on there that deserve a new sequel more than others. Unfortunately we will have to play the waiting game until the two mystery games are announced by either Microsoft or their respective developers or publishers.

  • Microsoft Plans to Buy Mojang

microsoft mojangIt seems that nobody can escape acquisition these days - if you're a successful business, and you manage to get the spotlight on you, chances are somebody like Google, Microsoft or Amazon will swoop down and offer a pricey deal to purchase your entire business.

Recently, Twitch was acquired by Amazon for $970 million, and now there are rumors circulating that Microsoft is looking to acquire Mojang, the creators of the ever-popular Minecraft.

Whilst nothing is definitely confirmed at this point, it is looking likely that Microsoft are looking into paying whatever they can to get hold of Minecraft, including a cash payment upwards of $2.5 billion.

The deciding factor will come down to whether the current Minecraft owners will be willing to give up their rights to the game for a huge cash sum. Markus "Notch" Persson, the original creator of Minecraft has already stated in the past that he has made enough money from Minecraft, but due to changes in Mojang, it may not be down to Notch to sell the company.

If Microsoft do purchase Mojang, it could mean we'll see more Minecraft branded toys, TV content or other entertainment mediums that can help Microsoft boost the revenue from the game. It's also possible that Microsoft may bring Minecraft to Windows Phone - as it stands now, Mojang have not developed a Pocket Edition version of Minecraft for Windows Phone due to the "tiny" market share Windows Phone currently holds.

  • New Official Xbox 360 Controller Released

new camo xbox 360 controllerMicrosoft has just announced a brand new controller for the Xbox 360, despite a lot of their effort now focusing on their latest console, the Xbox One. The new Xbox 360 controller follows the same design as previous controllers for the console, although it has been printed with a brand new skin.

This skin has been named the Arctic Camouflage skin, and can be seen in the picture above. This skin is another attempt by Microsoft to offer players customization when it comes to buying accessories for their console, and is certainly not the first official skinned controller.

This particular Xbox 360 pad will set you back $54.99, and will be available in North America next month.

If you want more customization options for Xbox 360 controllers or controllers for other consoles you may want to check out our custom controller creator - on here you'll be able to find a huge range of great controller skins, as well as other mod options and customization features.

In other news, Microsoft has revealed plans to fix the drivers for the Xbox One controller so that gamers can use the new controller with their PC. Currently the Xbox One controller has a few compatibility issues with Windows PCs, but these bugs should be fixed in the upcoming driver updates.

So far details on what controllers will work is unclear. It would make sense that you'd need to use a wired connection for the controller, although a wireless option may be possible in the future. We'll keep you update with any news on this as it is released by Microsoft.

  • Remastered Halo Series, The Master Chief Collection Coming to Xbox One

    the master chief collection

Whilst 343 Industries are still working on the next Halo game for the Xbox One, they have also been working on something completely unexpected that many fans of the series may be looking forward to. This something has been named Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and it will be a bundle of games that features all four previous Halo titles that follow the story of the Master Chief.

This includes Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3 and Halo 4. Games such as Halo ODST, and Halo Reach will not be included in the bundle. According to rumors, all four games will also be 'remastered,' probably in a similar fashion to how Halo: Combat Evolved was remastered in the recent Halo anniversary release for the Xbox 360.

So far it's unclear how the multiplayer will work for this bundle, but it is expected that the Master Chief Collection will come with some kind of online multiplayer matchmaking. It's quite a big project to port all four games into one collection, and so far we aren't sure whether all four games will be available in one single experience, or whether they will be separate standalone titles.

343 Industries also announced that Halo 5: Guardians will be released in 2015, however the Master Chief Collection should be released some time this year for the Xbox One. We'll probably hear more about 343’s exact plans later in June at Microsoft's E3 press conference, which really isn't all that far away now.

  • Microsoft Offers Refunds on Unused Xbox Live Gold Time

    xbox live gold refunds

Microsoft has just announced a whole list of changes to their Xbox Live service that will completely overhaul the overall experience for their average user. One of the biggest changes in this new move by Microsoft will allow gamers who make use of quarterly or yearly Xbox Live Gold subscriptions to receive refunds for any time they did not make use of on their Xbox.

If an Xbox Live Gold user cancels their yearly or monthly subscription, they will receive a refund for the remaining time available on that subscription, which should then go into their Xbox Live account balance.

On top of the changes to subscriptions, Microsoft is working hard to remove any paywalls on their current entertainment offering. Whilst Xbox Live Gold will still be needed for online multiplayer, services like Hulu Plus and Netflix will now be accessible without an active Gold subscription.

These brand new Xbox Live changes will go live in June, and it's another portion of their efforts to make sure their customers are getting the best service possible. The Xbox One certainly went off to a rocky start, but a lot of work has gone into rectifying their previous mistakes, and making sure things are easier and more convenient on their customers in the future.

This change was just announced after Microsoft revealed their brand new Kinect-less Xbox One SKU which can now be pre-ordered from online retailers for $90 cheaper than the Xbox One with Kinect.

  • New Gears of War Game with "Bleeding Edge Rendering Techniques" Coming

gears of war xbox oneBlack Tusk Studios, a new studio wholly backed by Microsoft have just put up a bunch of new job listings for a brand new Gears of War game, and from what we can gather from these job listings, Microsoft want to make sure the next Gears of War game is superbly epic.

One job listing for a senior rendering engineer states that the role could help develop "bleeding edge new rendering techniques to deliver best in class visuals for a AAA console game," and another suggest that the role in question needs to help shape an "industry leading multiplayer experience."

There has been a lot of talk recently about a possible new Gears of War title, and now that Microsoft have the rights to the franchise, it seems clear that they want it to be a title that Sony fans drool over.

Titanfall is a great title that could lead to a very successful series of games, but it's likely to jump to multi-platform support by the time the second game has been developed. Halo has also been an iconic series for Microsoft, but many gamers feel that the title is losing it's charm, so a new Gears' game could be what Xbox really needs.

So far it sounds very early in development though, so it could be a while before we actually see any true footage for the game, and then even longer still for an actual release date. Hopefully we'll hear more about it at this year's E3.

  • Diablo 3 is Coming to Xbox One

diablo 3Blizzard has confirmed that Diablo 3 will be coming to the Xbox One, amidst concerns that the game has not given a proper introduction to players using Xbox consoles. Lead producer for Diablo 3, Alex Mayberry stated in an interview with VideoGamer that, "I don't know where we are with Microsoft right now so I can't really comment on what that contract looks like. The point is we are developing for Xbox One and PS4 simultaneously. We hit those major platforms and then our goal as a development team is to make them run."

"We have that pipeline worked out, and then Blizzard and Microsoft can work out whatever they work out."

Many fans have been interested in a Diablo 3 for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, especially seeing as the first expansion pack for the title, Reaper of Souls, was released earlier this week for PC and Mac.

Blizzard has also confirmed that there will be a bundle pack for the PlayStation 4 which will be named the Ultimate Evil Edition - this bundle will come with Diablo 3 and the Reaper of Souls expansion. It's possible that there could be an Xbox One version of this bundle pack in the works too.

For now though, players will have to put up with playing the latest expansion on a PC or Mac if they are eager to play it as soon as possible. The PlayStation 4 won't be too long away though, either.

  • Microsoft's "Biggest Surprise Ever" Planned for E3 2014

    microsoft plans e3 2014

One year after the launch of the next Xbox console already makes it clear that this year's E3 will be important for Microsoft, but a new radiospot heard by a NeoGAF user suggests that E3 2014 may be the event to hold Microsoft's "biggest surprise ever."

According to the NeoGAF user, the radio spot revealed that Summerset Mall in Troy, Michigan will be hosting a super sized launch party for Titanfall at the Microsoft store, but it's something else in the radio ad that really got us interested. A message in the ad stated "Free food, drinks and $2,000 in prizes! First 50 people in line will receive a custom Titanfall t-shirt." The advert continued on until ending with, "One select winner will receive a free ride and ticket to this year's E3 to witness Microsoft's biggest surprise ever."

Whilst a free food, drinks and T-shirts does sound pretty cool, I'm personally more intrigued by this supposed 'biggest surprise Microsoft has up it's sleeves. This E3 needs to be big for Microsoft, and it looks like they already have something planned to make sure that it is big. All we need to do is sit and wait for them to actually reveal what it is.

E3 2014 will take place on June 10th, so we have a got a few months of waiting to do, unfortunately. Luckily though, we'll have games like Titanfall to keep us occupied until then.
