  • Diablo 3 is Coming to Xbox One

diablo 3Blizzard has confirmed that Diablo 3 will be coming to the Xbox One, amidst concerns that the game has not given a proper introduction to players using Xbox consoles. Lead producer for Diablo 3, Alex Mayberry stated in an interview with VideoGamer that, "I don't know where we are with Microsoft right now so I can't really comment on what that contract looks like. The point is we are developing for Xbox One and PS4 simultaneously. We hit those major platforms and then our goal as a development team is to make them run."

"We have that pipeline worked out, and then Blizzard and Microsoft can work out whatever they work out."

Many fans have been interested in a Diablo 3 for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, especially seeing as the first expansion pack for the title, Reaper of Souls, was released earlier this week for PC and Mac.

Blizzard has also confirmed that there will be a bundle pack for the PlayStation 4 which will be named the Ultimate Evil Edition - this bundle will come with Diablo 3 and the Reaper of Souls expansion. It's possible that there could be an Xbox One version of this bundle pack in the works too.

For now though, players will have to put up with playing the latest expansion on a PC or Mac if they are eager to play it as soon as possible. The PlayStation 4 won't be too long away though, either.

  • Microsoft's "Biggest Surprise Ever" Planned for E3 2014

    microsoft plans e3 2014

One year after the launch of the next Xbox console already makes it clear that this year's E3 will be important for Microsoft, but a new radiospot heard by a NeoGAF user suggests that E3 2014 may be the event to hold Microsoft's "biggest surprise ever."

According to the NeoGAF user, the radio spot revealed that Summerset Mall in Troy, Michigan will be hosting a super sized launch party for Titanfall at the Microsoft store, but it's something else in the radio ad that really got us interested. A message in the ad stated "Free food, drinks and $2,000 in prizes! First 50 people in line will receive a custom Titanfall t-shirt." The advert continued on until ending with, "One select winner will receive a free ride and ticket to this year's E3 to witness Microsoft's biggest surprise ever."

Whilst a free food, drinks and T-shirts does sound pretty cool, I'm personally more intrigued by this supposed 'biggest surprise Microsoft has up it's sleeves. This E3 needs to be big for Microsoft, and it looks like they already have something planned to make sure that it is big. All we need to do is sit and wait for them to actually reveal what it is.

E3 2014 will take place on June 10th, so we have a got a few months of waiting to do, unfortunately. Luckily though, we'll have games like Titanfall to keep us occupied until then.

  • Civilization Revolution Free in Xbox Live Games with Gold Promotion

    games with gold civilization

Just as information about Sony's free game lineup for March was released, we're hearing rumors about what games may make it into Microsoft's similar loyalty program, Xbox Live Games with Gold.

So far, nothing has been made official, but according to WorthPlaying, a pretty reputable source when it comes to this stuff, Civilization Revolution will be one of the titles made available in this month's Games with Gold promotion.

Civ Revolution is a pretty fun game, but it has been out since 2008 now, and whilst Microsoft is offering 6 year old games to their loyal gamers, Sony is giving away free copies of Tomb Raider, a game that was released just 1 year ago.

Of course, Microsoft could be giving no games away at all, so we shouldn't really complain at these free titles, but still, it would be nice if the guys behind Xbox decided to put a bit more thought into the loyalty rewards for those paying a monthly subscription to get the most out of their consoles.

So far, there's no details on what game will be accompanying Civilization Revolution later on in the month, but let’s hope it's something enjoyable. If you haven’t played any Civilization games, Revolution is definitely a good way to get into the series. Back in 2008 I absolutely loved it. You'll have till the end of the first half of the month to download Civilization Revolution to your games library, at which point the game will be replaced with the next March title planned this month.

  • Dead Rising 3 Chaos Rising DLC Releasing this Tuesday

    DR3 Chaos Rising

Microsoft has now confirmed that the next DLC pack for Dead Rising 3, the third in a series of single player related add-on content, will be available for purchase on Tuesday, February 25th.

The upcoming Dead Rising 3 DLC will be the penultimate add-on, and has been named the 'Chaos Rising expansion pack.' So far, Operation Broken Eagle and Fallen Angel have been released, making Chaos Rising the third DLC pack for Dead Rising 3 released in the last two months.

So far, details for Chaos Rising have not been confirmed, which is quite surprising, considering that the release date is just tomorrow.  However, like the last two packs, it's likely that Chaos Rising will include a new chunk of story content, and it may also focus on a new protagonist, and most likely will add a bunch of new weapons and a few new vehicles to Dead Rising 3.

Chaos Rising and the other two released DLC packs have been confirmed to all be part of the 'Untold Stories of Los Perdidos' series, and after Chaos Rising, there will be one more DLC release before the four part DLC is wrapped up and finished.

Like many other DLC offerings for the Xbox One, there is a season pass available that will allow players to get access to all four DLC packs as they are released at an overall discounted price tag.

No details have been given on whether there will be another set of DLC after the Untold Stories of Los Perdidos series, but if there is, it's safe to assume that there will be a separate season pass for any more additional content.

  • Microsoft Now Owns Gears of War Rights

    gears of war xbox one

Whispers and rumors have suggested that there may be a Gears of War title in the works for the Xbox One, but previously it didn't really make sense for such a thing to come about. EPIC Games seemed to be pretty much finished with the series after the last title, Gears of War Judgment, which, unfortunately was a little bit of a let down for most Gears' fans.

If you're dreaming for a new Gears of War game on the next Xbox, your dreams may actually come true. It has been revealed that Microsoft has paid Epic Games for the rights of the Gears of War franchise. Not just the rights, but every damn last right. This means that although there may not be another Gears of War game by Epic Games themselves, Microsoft now own the title, and have the power to make a new game whenever they want to.

It's very likely at this point that Microsoft do plan to make a new Gears of War title, it would be strange for them to buy the rights off of Epic Games and just let them sit there.

I unfortunately cannot speak on whether the new Gears of War game will be any good, as no details on such a thing have yet been released. We already know that the same old stuff isn't going to cut it, and somebody is going to have to give it a major think before creating the next GoW for it to be any good.

I'd personally love to see a brand new Gears of War title on the Xbox One, and hopefully this new news suggests that such a thing will come into existence, when, and by who, is yet to be seen.

  • Microsoft is Offering $100 If you Hand Them your PS3

    Microsoft 100 off ps3

Microsoft is pretty well known for slandering it's competition, and recently they've really tried hard to make their competitors look like insignificant wastes of time, despite being a fair way behind their competitors in the industries they are working in.

In the gaming industry, I have a feeling we can expect a lot of PlayStation slandering campaigns to go ahead over the next few years, but that's okay, because Sony usually has a witty thing or two to say back.

The most recent of these campaigns offers those who want an Xbox One a path easier on their wallets. To be precise, Microsoft has offered to take your PlayStation 3 off of your hands, in return for a $100 discount card on a brand spanking new Xbox One.

Microsoft may have admitted that the Xbox One is priced higher than the PS4, and this looks like their first measure to try and make their price a little closer to the cheaper PlayStation.

The trouble is, despite this being a nice way to get a new Xbox One, it really isn't that much of a great deal. By giving your PlayStation 3 to Microsoft, you'll be making $100, whilst they could then go and sell that off to a refurbished electronics retailer for more than $100.

If you really want an Xbox One, you'll be better off selling your PS3 privately on a website like eBay, instead of handing it into Microsoft.

PlayStation 4 fans have taken to the internet to poke fun at the campaign. One fan has changed up the original sign that said "ditch your PS3 and get $100 store credit towards Xbox One" and replaced it with the writing "Keep your PS3 and save $100 by ignoring Microsoft and buying a PS4."

  • Halo: Spartan Assault Release on Xbox One

New Titans Titanfall VGXThe top down shooter, Halo: Spartan Assault was first released on Windows Phone, but it looks as if the game will now slowly make it's way over to Microsoft consoles as well. A new announcement by Microsoft has revealed that the game will be available on the Xbox One by Christmas Eve, and will be running at 60fps and in 1080P, which really isn't anything special, considering that the game can be run on a smartphone.

The game will be available on Xbox One for $15, however if you already own the Windows Phone copy (which costs $7) you'll only have to pay $5 for the Xbox One console version.

So, if you are planning to purchase the Xbox One version, it makes sense to buy the Windows Phone version first to save yourself a couple bucks.

The new Xbox One version will also include some new content such as a new cooperative mode that will allow players to team up over Xbox Live to fight oncoming waves of the flood. It will also include new useable weapons, and the operation Hydra expansion for free.

Halo: Spartan Assault was also previously announced to be released on the Xbox 360 at the same time as the Xbox One, but it has since been delayed and the release date for the Xbox 360 version will be in January 2014.

360 Players won't be able to play with Xbox One players, but the 360 version will include all of the same content as the Xbox One version and will be available at the same price point.

  • Xbox One Sells 1 Million in 24 Hours

    1 Million Xbox One Sales

Just like with the PlayStation 4's North American launch, Microsoft's new Xbox One console has managed to sell a total of 1 million units within the first 24 hours of launch.

This is some pretty interesting news, and despite all of the criticism Microsoft have received, and the fact that the Xbox One is more expensive than the PlayStation 4, this shows that there is still a strong audience out there for the Xbox One.

Microsoft made a statement to state that the Xbox One is now sold out in most retailers, despite other reports stating otherwise, however, the 1 million sales are most likely true at this point.

To match the demand, Microsoft hope to mass produce more consoles before Christmas. Xbox's corporate Vice President of Marketing and Strategy, Yusuf Mehdi, has an offered a statement saying, "We are working hard to create more Xbox One consoles and look forward to fulfilling holiday gift wishes this season."

Like mentioned above, we've heard a few reports about a large amount of Xbox One's still being available, so although the console has sold incredibly well, it looks like Microsoft's next gen console may not be dealing with as many production issues as the PlayStation 4 is.

Most reviews for the Xbox One from customers and critics seem to be quite positive, and many are hailing it as the console of choice for those who are more likely to use their console for more entertainment mediums such as TV, internet browsing, listening to music or watching movies.

  • Titanfall Release Date Revealed

Respawn has now announced that Titanfall, the futuristic next gen first person shooter, will be available on the Xbox One, the Xbox 360 and PC on March 11, 2014 in North America, and March 13 in Europe and Australia.

Respawn have also given details on their super expensive Titanfall collector's edition that includes a bunch of goodies for a grand total of $249.99. The collector's edition comes with a collectible 18 inch hand crafted titan statue and diorama with a battery-powered LED lighting system on the titan, as well as a full size art book with over 190 pages of the game's concept art, as well as a schematic of the Atlas Titan in the form of a poster.

The collector's edition also includes a copy of the game, however details on whether this will be Xbox One exclusive have not been given yet.

Titanfall has been hailed by critics as a breath of fresh air in the FPS franchise, by including all new forms of combat, such as a smooth mech combat system and the 3D and almost parkour-like foot soldier jetpack combat.

Previous reports have suggested that Titanfall will be a timed exclusive, despite reports from Microsoft stating otherwise. Many believe that Titanfall will eventually make it to the PlayStation 4, so although this game looks great, it may be worth waiting instead of splashing out a load of cash on the Xbox One just for the game.

  • Microsoft Compromises on No More FIFA 14 Bundles

It's been recent news that FIFA 14 will only be bundled with pre-ordered Xbox One day one edition consoles. The Day one edition consoles have already sold out, meaning any more pre-orders will not include FIFA 14, despite Microsoft previously announcing 'every' pre-ordered Xbox One console will receive a free game.

This leads us to think that there isn't really a FIFA 14 for everyone and although the big M settled a deal with EA, it seems that there was only a limited amount of free FIFA 14 day one bundles available.

Because Microsoft were unclear about this at the time of announcing the deal they have offered a compromise to those who didn't get the chance to pre-order the day one edition console due to 'unprecedented demand.'

Microsoft has decided to offer a free copy of Forza 5 to those who pre-order the console now that the FIFA 14 free copies have run dry.

This scheme seems very confusing, and what's stranger is that the FIFA 14 deal is only available to those in Europe and there isn't an American offer similar to this. The new Forza 5 deal is also only available for the UK.
