  • Outlast 2 Confirmed

Outlast 2If you're a fan of the recent surge of new horror games that have been released over the last couple of years then you will be excited to hear what we have to say today. It has been confirmed by Red Barrels that they have started development on Outlast 2.

The first Outlast game managed to be very successful - first starting as a small indie game available through Steam's greenlight system, it came on to becoming a full Steam game and then released for consoles later in the year.

The next Outlast game will be made for consoles and PC on day one, and it will come with a whole set of new scares. Whilst Outlast 2 will be set in the same universe as the first game, Outlast 2 will be based around a new survival horror story.

Red Barrels have not given much more information about Outlast 2, besides from the fact that they are working on a sequel to the first game, because they feel like they, "had at least another horror game in us."

"The game will be a survival horror experience and it will take place in the same universe as Outlast, but it will have different characters and a different setting. We might go back to Mount Massive Asylum one day, but for now we have new ideas and themes we'd like to explore and we think we're cooking up something special."

Are you excited to hear about the new Outlast game?

  • Sleeping Dogs HD May Come to Next Gen Consoles

sleeping dogs hd remakePreviously there has been talk about a possible Sleeping Dogs sequel, but despite details about the franchises next steps, Square Enix haven't really put much more out there about any new games in the Sleeping Dogs universe.

What we do know though is that Square Enix certainly doesn't plan to drop the IP after just one title, and we'll probably see a lot more Sleeping Dogs content over the next few years. The next release for the Sleeping Dogs franchise may be sooner than we think, and whilst it may not be a new game, it will be a fresh approach to the original that should open up the game to new players.

A new product listing on ShopTo, an online games retailer recently suggested that Sleeping Dogs will be getting an HD facelift for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The Sleeping Dogs HD listing was up for a couple of days before ShopTo abruptly removed it without any notification from either ShopTo or Square Enix.

There's no doubt that this was a slip up on ShopTo's part, but does this listing mean we'll be seeing a Sleeping Dogs HD remake soon? It would be strange for ShopTo to put a listing up for something that doesn't actually exist, so perhaps we will see Sleeping Dogs HD in the near future.

Hopefully we'll hear something official from Square Enix about Sleeping Dogs fairly soon, if not about the HD remake, then about a brand new game in the franchise instead.

  • Next Walking Dead Season 2 Episode Close

    Walking Dead Season 2

The storytelling Walking Dead video game series by Telltale games has taken most of the gaming industry by storm. A game that has very little physical gameplay content has managed to sell by the truckload, and pick up multiple awards whilst it's at it too.

I think it's great progress for the gaming industry, and I'd welcome more creative projects like this, and Beyond: Two Souls by Quantic Dream in the future.

Although it wasn't long ago that the first episode for the season 2 of Telltale's Walking Dead was released, many fans are already eagerly awaiting the next episode in the series. It has been revealed this week that the next Walking Dead season 2 episode will be "around the corner."

The news was revealed on the official Telltale Games twitter page, which was used to say, "Still. Not. Bitten. The next chapter of #TheWalkingDead Season 2 is just around the corner. Stay tuned for info!"

So far, no solid date has been set for the release of the next episode of Telltale Game's Walking Dead season 2, but I don't doubt it will be fairly soon.

Season 2 has focused it's main story around a young girl named Clementine, who, through the first season 2 episode, managed to pull through and stay alive, despite her size and age.

For those that have not yet got it, the first episode for Season 2 was released on December 17th, 2013, and can be picked up on Steam, Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network. You can also grab the season pass that will entitle you to free ownership of all five upcoming episodes on every available platform.

  • New Steam Box Console Prototype Shown - Could Reach Stores for $500

    steam box console price

Steam have recently unveiled plans to bridge the gap between computer gamers and console gamers by taking their huge library of PC games and plonking it on a brand new console. So far we've already seen images of the Steam controller, but this week new plans have been lifted on the actual console itself and a prototype for what could potentially be a $500 gaming console have been revealed by the manufacturers, IBuyPower.

IBuyPower is a gaming PC manufacturer that has gained a lot of traction recently, and it looks like Valve have laid it down on them to build and supply the console.

The first prototype surprisingly looks very similar to the PlayStation 4 - It has a blue light strip in the centre of the console and a very similar shape and build quality as the PS4, however it is white instead of black, but it's clear where IBP got their inspiration from.

IBuyPower plan to make two variants of this console, with one most likely offering higher hardware performance at a higher price, whilst the other offers less performance for a more affordable price.

Either way, IBuyPower has commented on the prototype by saying that both models will have the capability of playing all current Steam games at 1080P at 60 frames per second.

They also plan to get the console, along with a built-in Steam OS, out some time in 2014. Whilst we don't know details on both models, one version is said to cost $499, and the hardware inside includes an AMD Radeon R9 270 (which is a significant upgrade from the capabilities of both the Xbox One and the PS4) graphics card and a 500GB hard drive.

  • Valve Reveals Steam Controllers

Valve has been very busy this week revealing SteamOS, a Linux based operating system. Then Steam Machines being manufactured by PC companies and finally, earlier today, have unveiled their Steam Controller.

The controller is designed to work on computers for Steam games. Check out the official Steam Controller below:

Of course we wouldn't be Evil if we weren't already brainstorming features and customization options for Custom Steam Controllers until the official release of Valve's hardware. If our fans are interested we'd love to modify and customize Steam Controllers.

  • GlaDOS's Voice Actor Will Be in DOTA 2

Ellen McLain Will Be Voicing Characters in DOTA 2

Ellen McLain, who is known for voicing the Administrator in Team Fortress 2 and GlaDOS in the Portal series, will be returning to voice a couple of characters in DOTA 2 (according to an article on Joystiq). DOTA 2 (aka Defense of the Ancients, aka the reason why my homework was neglected in college) will be released sometime (read: Valve Time) in 2012.

In a recent interview, Ellen stated that she and her husband John Patrick Lowrie (who voices the Sniper in Team Fortress 2) will be voicing an assortment of characters for the upcoming game that was based off a Warcraft 3 mod. So far, two can confirm that they have done a good amount of the 100 characters made for the game.

You know, it wouldn't be a Valve game without recognizable voices like Ellen. And knowing Valve, they're going to sneak in a cake reference, I just know it.

  • Final Combat, China's TF2 Rip Off is at it Again

Chinese's Rip Off of Team Fortress 2 Surfaces Itself Again with More Plagiarism

Back in July,Kotaku reported about the Team Fortress 2 ripoff "Final Combat". Frankly, when the news got to me (the biggest TF2 fan in Arizona), my eyes began to twitch and I nearly blew a gasket due to the built up rage of hearing suchplagiarism. I was going to write a very wordy blog about how Xunlei, the Chinese company making this game, should be thrown into space and never be heard from again and how unfair it is that Valve cannot touch this game because of international copyright laws between the US and China. So I let it pass and not let it get to me. Barely anything was heard from Xunlei, except for the occasional appearance of a "new and original" character was going to appear in Final Combat like "The Firebat" (*cough*PYRO*cough*).

But once again, like an unwanted visit to the dentist, Final Combat resurfaced again. "Oh joy!" I thought, "What seemingly senseless dribble are they going to throw in the faces of of Valve fans everywhere?!" Well, I was surprised, it was a video of Troy Horton, the man behind the idea. Name sounds familiar? Well if you ever played the Tomb Raider series, he was one of the co-creators. While he is now no longer connected with Edios, he fled to China and is now spewing this TF2 clone as his own piece of work. Upon watching the video, all I can do is this:

I'm probably not the only one alone who is doing this. We TF2 fans can only hope that maybe Valve can do a tongue-in-cheek jab at Final Combat when it's release. I got an idea, have a hat for the Soldier that's like his ripoff in Final Combat, a yellow firemen hat with the description: "totally original hat".

Ten Games You can Play Without Breaking the Bank

The debate is, I dont want to pay a ton of money to get a game that is just ok and I dont want to have to buy 20 .99 cent games until I find one that is worthy of a challenge. Yahoo found ten great games that can be found for under $10.

  • Portal 2's Newest Character is voiced by JK Simmons

Portal 2's newest character addition is Jonah Jameson from Spiderman?

Seen here on this information released from PAX East, Valve's sequel to the masterpiece that is Portal, Portal 2, will feature some high quality voice acting, especially when that voice acting is coming from J.K. Simmons. J.K. Simmons is best known for playing roles such as President Ackerman in Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3, Jonah Jameson in all three of theSpiderman movies, and as of now, Cave Johnson, the CEO and mastermind behind Aperture Science in Portal 2. As if the game wasn't epic enough they gotta put one of this blogger's favorite actors in there.

If you watched the video in the link provided above, you'll notice that J.K. Simmons fits the bill as the voice of Cave Johnson. According to the footage, Portal 2 plays off thatCave Johnson is to be a genius yet a misinformed fool at the same time, a role that is all too familiar with Simmons. So looks like we can add another awesome character to the roster of Chell, GlaDOS, Wheatley, and the twin Co-Op Robots.

Portal 2 will be released for Xbox 360, PS3, PC and Mac in North America on April 18, and then a few days later in both Europe and Australia.

  • Need a sentry here, need a sentry here, need a sentry here...

Ever play TF2 and notice how every Scout spams the voice command "NEED A SENTRY HERE" over and over and over till an Engineer (most likely me) gives in and builds a sentry? Well apparently I guess there's an annoying Scout at Valve's HQ and I guess the programmers there decided to give in like I do. Only thing is, their sentry is real (well except for the shooting bullets part).

Actually the team behind Team Fortress 2 got to visit Weta Workshop (the same people who did animatronic work for the Lord of the Rings movies and the upcoming The Hobbit movie) a while back and made a request to make a Level 1 sentry for their home office. Well it just arrived recently and Weta went the whole nine yards. The sentry (which took several men to deploy and move) has a state-of-the-art motion detection camera and will "fire" on those in its paths. This is probably like every TF2 fanboy's dream to own one of these near replicas. The same goes for this blogger. Hopefully one day I can show up at Valve's HQ in my BLU Engineer cosplay just to see it....until I find out at the last minute it's a RED Sentry.
