  • We Might Just Be Able to Play Xbox 360 Games on the Xbox One in the Future

New XBOX ONEBeing able to play the last generation of games on a brand new console may seem like a bit of a gimmick at first, but it is an incredibly useful feature that could help many gamers that are on a budget.

Being able to trade in your Xbox 360 console to help cut down on the costs of the Xbox One is a great option to have, but after building up years worth of games, it may not be that easy for many gamers to give that all up. This is why Xbox 360 emulation on an Xbox One would be immensely handy. In fact, while they're at it, if Microsoft could make the Xbox One support original Xbox games as well, that'd be incredibly useful.

Whilst Microsoft never revealed any plans to have such a feature on the Xbox One, recently Frank Savage, partner development lead at Xbox, revealed that it's not entirely out of the question. When asked whether there were plans to bring an Xbox 360 emulation system to the Xbox One, Frank replied with "There are, but we're not done thinking them through yet, unfortunately. It turns out to be hard to emulate the PowerPC stuff on the X86 stuff. So there's nothing to announce, but I would love to see it myself."

I'm sure if Sony were to offer an Emulation system on the PS4, Microsoft would feel obliged to follow through with a similar system, and vice versa. But until one player moves, no one is going anywhere with the whole emulation thing. Let's hope that Microsoft try to put more work into it, because I'd love to see it happen.

  • Titanfall Xbox 360 Version Will Offer Players 'the True Experience'

titanfall xbox 360Whilst Titanfall has already been out for a while on both PC and Xbox One, Respawn Entertainment did originally plan for the title to have an Xbox 360 version released on the same date, too.

However, delays in the development for the last gen port meant that the original release date had to be pushed back for the Xbox 360 version of Titanfall, but it's finally almost time for the game to release, and despite previous concerns, it's looking like it may run fairly smoothly on the old machine.

Whilst development for the Xbox 360 version of Titanfall was handed down to Bluepoint Games, things should not be very different to the PC or Xbox One versions. Senior producer of the Titanfall 360 port, Daryl Allison, stated that despite the Xbox 360 being inferior in terms of hardware capability, the Xbox 360 version of Titanfall won't have any limitations.

"Titanfall on the Xbox 360 is the true experience: all the maps, modes, pilots, titans, weapons, burn cards, you name it, found in the Xbox One and PC versions. The game looks great, sounds great, and above all it plays great. There are of course some differences that are due to the technical limitations of the hardware - for example, the game runs above 30fps - but the experts at Respawn worked with us to ensure that all the intense, 6v6 wall-running, titan-dropping action is there."
This is exciting news to hear, and it looks like Xbox 360 players will be able to play the true Titanfall experience when the Xbox 360 port is released later this month.

  • New UK Cinema Spot Released for Dark Souls 2 - Yes, it Looks Epic

    dark souls 2 spot

If you can excuse the strange choice of music, I have something very exciting to show you. It's a brand new trailer headed for UK cinemas, and it shows some pretty intense footage of Darks Souls 2 in action.

The trailer focuses on an iron-clad hero as he battles through numerous enemies, takes down a dragon, and goes through various forms of terrain. I know that the trailer doesn't really represent actual gameplay footage, but it still looks absolutely awesome.

I was very interested in the first Dark Souls game but have yet to play it unfortunately, but I have heard many great things from the game, so this looks like a very nice treat, especially for anybody that has played the first game.

The trailer seemed to be directly advertising the Black Armor Edition and the Collector's Edition of the game, and showed both copies with their exclusive goodies at the end of the trailer. The Black Armor Edition comes with the game, the title's soundtrack, as well as early access to the Black Armors weapon pack, which comes with five new weapons.

The Collector's Edition also comes with the same exclusives, however it also comes packed with a 12" Warrior Knight figure, a Collectible art book, and a map of the game's world.

Dark Souls 2 has been confirmed to be released this March, with March 11th, March 13th and March 14th playing key dates for different regions.

  • Far Cry Original Remake Released

    Far Cry Classic

Over the last half decade, it's become quite a popular thing for developers to make remakes of their old games. I'm not just talking about new re-imagined versions of games, either, I'm talking literal ports of ancient titles with nothing new added to it other than an HD skin, in most cases.

Personally, I always feel the idea behind playing an old game is for the nostalgia value, and HD remakes always ruin that for me a little, however if you're a fan of HD remakes, you may want to keep get your wallet out because the original Far Cry game is about to join the likes of Goldeneye, Halo: Combat Evolved, and Fable: The Lost Chapters, among others.

A Far Cry Classic remake has been rumored for a while now, and it has finally been released to the public, however details are still a bit blurry. Ubisoft seemed to have messed up a little with the promotion of the project, and despite development time being put in the remake to add revamped cutscenes, enhanced graphics and a new interface, it's unclear whether Far Cry Classic will ever actually make it to North America in the same manner as other regions.

If you're living in Europe, you'll be able to pick up 'Far Cry Wild Expeditions' which comes packed with all of the Far Cry games ever released, as well as Far Cry Classic for PS3, Xbox 360 or PC.

If you live in North America, the same bundle is available, but Far Cry Classic has been excluded - the bundle for North America has also been renamed to the 'Far Cry Compilation' and is available for $39.99

Despite this strange bundle mishap, both regions can grab a digital copy of Far Cry Classic for just $11.99 from Xbox LIVE or the PlayStation Network.

  • Arkham Origins has Bugs, but Warner Bros. Won't Fix Them

    Arkham Origins Bugs

Unfortunately, Batman: Arkham Origins hasn't been released without some issues, and a lot of players have made remarks about bugs and glitches currently in the game. It seems quite a common occurrence these days to have a game released by a triple A development team that is filled with bugs, glitches and errors that really shouldn't be in the game at all.

It's ridiculously frustrating for the average gamer, and it makes us feel a bit used, really. It feels as if developers and publishers are simply using our love for games as a way to get to our wallets, and this story will just make us all even angrier.

What's really terrible about the bugs in Batman: Arkham Origins is that Warner Bros. know exactly what bugs are in the game, thanks to the dozens of reports spread across the internet, but despite this, they seem reluctant to do anything about them.

And the reason why Warner Bros. isn't in a hurry to fix the bugs in Arkham Origins is because they are focusing on something else instead - DLC.

Yes, that's right, Warner Bros. doesn't want to fix the bugs and glitches in the game right now because they'd rather work on bringing in more content to the game that players can purchase.

The community managers exact words are as follows - "The team is currently working hard on the upcoming story DLC and there currently are no plans for releasing another patch to address the issues that have been reported on the forums."

If you aren't having any issues or are happy to play through the problems, the new upcoming DLC is expected to be a single player add-on that will bring Batman up against Mr Freeze.

  • New Concept Art Shows the World of Dragon Age: Inquisition

    Dragon Age Inquisition Concept Art

For some of you, news of concept art might sound a bit boring. It's one of the major milestones in game development though, and you can usually get a pretty good idea of how a game is going to look through concept art.

Some new concept art has been shown of Dragon Age: Inquisition, and I'm pretty happy to see that the world is shaping up to be pretty magnificent.

The graphics on the previous Dragon Age games have never been stunning, but they've certainly never been bad enough to put you off playing the game, and I expect that Dragon Age: Inquisition will have graphics that are slightly more impressive than the previous title, even if it has been announced to be released on the Xbox 360 and PS3, along with next generation versions.

The concept that has been shown gives us the impression the Inquisition will take place in the same grimy & mythical environments as the previous games, and a lot of the huge open atmospheric spaces that you usually find yourself stumbling across will most likely return in Inquisition.

Dragon Age: Inquisition has been planned for a late 2014 release for the Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, however it's unclear whether this date is set in stone or not.

Let's hope BioWare do release Inquisition this year, and hopefully it will be an enjoyable game to play through. We've got a lot of great next gen games lined up this year, but at the moment, there really isn't that much to offer on the PS4 or the Xbox One.

  • Batman Arkham Origins Multiplayer released

If you haven't got enough online DC face-smashing action out of Injustice: Gods Among Us or Batman Arkham: Origins, you may want to put your copy of Batman Arkham Origins into your Xbox or PlayStation as Warner Bros. have just released a new patch that adds an online multiplayer mode into the game.

    Batman Arkham Origins Multiplayer

The new online multiplayer mode has been named 'Hunter, Hunted' and it splits players into three different teams. The first team is a three man team of Bane's thugs, the second is a similarly sized team of the Joker's thugs, and the last team is of course Batman.

The game is in essence a team-based elimination game mode because after a player is downed, he or she will not be able to respawn in, making each game super fast paced. I've watched a little bit of gameplay footage and it seems as if the game plays out as a standard team-based elimination game mode, but because Batman is thrown in on top of things, the average experience of Hunter, Hunted is completely different.

Players playing as batman can lurk around out of sight, picking off weak foes and waiting for the perfect time to strike, whilst the teams of thugs need to keep an eye out for batman and the other enemy team, and then work together to ensure they have enough team members left to kill off Batman at the end. Personally I think it looks like great fun.

  • First Assassins Creed IV DLC Pack Released

    First AC4 DLC

Whilst all of the downloadable content for Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag was announced at it’s launch by Ubisoft, full details and pricing outside of the season pass was not given.

This week, Ubisoft has released the first DLC pack for Assassin’s Creed IV. The first pack is the previously announced character pack that includes three new characters that will be playable in the game’s multiplayer.

The first character is Blackbeard, one of the main characters in the story campaign. The second character is the Orchid, a deadly Assassin that grew up in China, and the third character is the Jaguar, an Aztec warrior from Mexico.

I could imagine each three characters would have a different playstyle, with Blackbeard being the most in your face, strength based character, the Orchid being the weaker, but more subtle assassin character, and the Jaguar being a mixture of the two.

The DLC pack is called Blackbeard's Wrath and will also add new achievements and trophies to the game. The new content pack is available on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and the PC for $2.99. Personally I think a few extra bucks ain’t bad for a few extra characters, but I suppose the argument that they should have been in the game for free from day one is still valid.

On top of this, the second DLC pack will be released on December 17th, and will include over four hours of new single player content, and nine new missions that focus on Adewale, a close friend to Edward Kenway in AC4.

  • Battlefield 4 Double EXP Week Planned

    Battlefield 4 Double EXP

To say sorry for all of the problems since the launch of the game on Xbox 360, PC and PlayStation 3, DICE manager Karl Magnus Troedssen has announced that all players will be offered double EXP for a whole week for all of the games they play within the double EXP week period.

The week will start on November 28th and will end on December 5th, and although it hasn't been confirmed yet, we assume this will apply to all consoles, including the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.

On top of the double EXP, players who play the game on December 5th will receive an exclusive weapon. Karl Magnus Troedssen said "On December 5 we will give all players that log in to Battlefield 4 multiplayer a M1911 pistol scope," said Troedsson. "This special sidearm scope, previously reserved for our DICE developers, has a 3X zoom and is available for all classes in Battlefield 4." To receive the gun, players will only have to log in to Battlefield 4 multiplayer with their EA account or console gamer profile.

Whilst a lot of players have complained about terrible server latency, EXP loss, corrupted save data, among other issues, DICE have announced that they are working around the clock to smooth out as many issues as possible, and Karl has confirmed that everyone working at DICE is currently working together to fix all of the current launch problems.

A hotfix patch was released last Friday to resolve some server problems, and a patch was released on Monday 25th,  so things are slowly getting worked through.

  • Xbox Games with Gold Going to be Permanent

The fairly recent loyalty program, Xbox Games with Gold, has been confirmed by Microsoft as a permanent feature that will continue on past the Xbox One's launch. Before this confirmation, it was discussed by Microsoft that the promotion would only stay till the end of the year, but it looks as if somebody has managed to convince the big M to keep us a little bit happier with our monthly Xbox Gold subscriptions.

The Xbox Games with Gold loyalty promotion offers two free games each month to everybody who has an Xbox Live Gold account. It started out with little mention from Microsoft when Fable III mysteriously appeared on the Xbox marketplace for free, but it was later revealed that the game was part of the ongoing Games with Gold loyalty service.

Since then, Xbox Live Gold members have been treated with a bunch of fairly outdated games over the last few months, including games like Halo 3, Assassins' Creed II, Dead Rising 2, Crackdown and Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes.

Currently Halo 3 is available till October 31st as a free title, and after this date Microsoft will introduce another game that will be available on the Xbox Games Store for half a month.

Once a game has been up for half a month it will then be available for purchase again through the Xbox Games Store.

However, Xbox Live Gold players can "buy" the free title and then play or download it whenever they feel necessary, even after the promotion runs out or their account reverts to a free account.
