  • New NBA 2K18 Social Space To Change Up Multiplayer

NBA 2K18 neighborhoodsThis year, the NBA 2K18 multiplayer mode is getting a huge overhaul. In NBA 2K18, a new social space called Neighborhoods is being added.

In the new Neighborhoods mode, players will be able to customize their own player, interact with others, and take part in a variety of different activities, some of which are related to basketball, while some aren't.

The Neighborhood mode will take place in a separate map that'll feature a set of American city blocks. Basketball courts, shops for customizing your character, and other recreational areas will be included.

The new Neighborhood mode will essentially work as a lobby for players to hang out in while waiting for games in either of the MyPark, Pro-Am, and MyCareer modes.

Players will also be able to take part in different activities to improve their player's skills to help them be better players on the basketball court. Players will share the Neighborhood with other players that are online.

At any time, a player can interact with another player and invite them to a MyPark game. Alternatively, they can drop out and progress through the MyCareer or Pro-Am modes.

NBA 2K18 is set to launch for the majority of platforms on September 19. The consoles that will support NBA 2K18 includes PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.

The new MyCareer mode will have more of a focus on developing your own personal storyline, as opposed to progressing through a season as an existing basketball team.

  • Rainbow Six Siege Blood Orchid 3.0 Patch Notes Released

Rainbow six siege blood orchid releasedOperation Health has finally ended and Siege players are now going to get access to new content and changes as part of the Blood Orchid 3.0 patch.

The entire expansion will be made available for free to all players - this means that everybody can play the new maps and new operators included in the operation. However, despite the content being released for free, those with the Year 2 season pass will get the operators for free, while all other players will need to spend renown on the operators to unlock them.

Alternatively, players can purchase new operators with real money via the Rainbow Six Credits system.

One of the biggest new additions to Rainbow Six Siege in the new Blood Orchid operation is the Theme Park map. This new map features a creepy environment based in an abandoned theme park.

The next operator is Lesion, a Chinese Defender that can throw a device down that can damage and disorientate enemies when it is detonated.

The final operator is called Ela - she's a Polish operator that was originally planned for a now-canceled Polish-based operation for Rainbow Six Siege.

  • Dead by Daylight Released to Consoles

dead by daylight consolesPerhaps after seeing the success of the Friday the 13th game, the Dead By Daylight developers have now pushed out their release for their game across PS4 and Xbox One.

The new Dead By Daylight console launch is available exclusively as a digital download from either the Xbox Games Store or the PSN marketplace. The new console version has a number of achievements for Xbox One and trophies on PS4 for players to unlock.

For those unaware, Dead By Daylight is a survival multiplayer game that gives players the chance to play as either one of the survivors or as the killer.

When playing as the single killer, you must attempt to kill each of the survivors before they can escape. When playing as the survivors, you must team up with other players to either escape or take the killer down.

There are a number of different killers available, some of which are based on real life serial killers or serial killers from pop culture. The killers available in the console release are the Trapper, the Wraith, the Hillbilly, the Nurse, the Shape, the Hag, and the Doctor.

Just like with Friday the 13th the game, trying to win as the survivors is far more difficult than it would first seem, despite the fact that the survivors outnumber the Killer.

This new wave of asymmetrical multiplayer games has certainly brought a breath of fresh air to the industry, so we're grateful to see Dead By Daylight available on Xbox One and the PS4.

Dead By Daylight will initially be available for $29.99

Destiny 2's game director, Luke Smith, replied to a Tweet on Twitter which asked about the PS4 Destiny 2 exclusivity deal. Luke Smith mentioned that "Destiny 2's PlayStation-exclusive content will arrive on Xbox One and PC in 2018."

An exact date for the end of the exclusivity deal wasn't given but it makes sense that it will follow exactly one year after the release of the content on the PS4.

  • Elder Scrolls Online Gets New Housing Patch

elder scrolls online housingA previously PC-exclusive update for Elder Scrolls Online has finally made it's way to the Xbox One and the PS4. The update in question adds housing to the world of ESO for the first time since the game's release.

The new free update is called Homestead and with it, players will be able to purchase their very own home to call their own. Once a home is purchased, a player can customize the interior in a variety of different ways. The Homestead options available include roughly 40 different rooms and buildings types, ranging in size, price and functionality.

All of the available player houses in Homestead are instanced, so every player can own their own version of any house they please in the game world, so long as they've got the gold for it of course.

The very high-end houses are essentially separate islands off of the mainland of Tamriel. There are ten different types of islands, all of which are themed around one of the 10 playable races in Elder Scrolls Online.

With the introduction of housing, players now have the opportunity to craft new items - all of the 2,000 different decorative interior items can be bought, crafted and traded between players.

This is by no means a necessary update for Elder Scrolls Online so to see that it's been pushed out for free is refreshing and we're excited to see what might come out of the Elder Scrolls Online development camp next.

  • No Halo Wars 2 Competitive Ranking Yet

halo wars 2 competitive rankingHalo Wars 2 is now available for Xbox One and Windows 10, across most regions. So far, critics have taken a liking to the real-time strategy game sequel, but the game isn't quite complete.

If you were a diehard Halo Wars fan, you'll know that a big part of the multiplayer aspect focused on the leaderboards and ranking system. Thousands of players would compete to be the very best, and this kind of competitive atmosphere helped to keep the Halo Wars name alive strong after the initial release date.

In Halo Wars 2 there isn't a competitive ranking system at launch, but it's for what we think is a good reason. David Nicholson, the executive producer at Creative Assembly, mentioned that they decided not to add competitive ranking at launch, "Because we want to make sure the balance is there. We think we've got the game well-balanced, with the two betas we had. But we continually make those balance changes. Our plan is to bring it out, but just not at launch."

This means that any balancing oversights the developers may have missed during beta will be ironed out before they launch their competitive matchmaking system. So far no details on how the ranking system will work, but we'd imagine it would be a more modernized version of the original Halo Wars leaderboards, as opposed to the kind of system currently seen in Halo 5: Guardians.

We'll have to wait to see how things pan out - for now, the rest of Halo Wars 2 is readily available for all to enjoy.
