  • The Arbiter is Coming to Killer Instinct

    arbiter in killer instinct

If you're a fan of the Halo franchise, you may want to check this out.

It turns out that the new Killer Instinct season will be getting some new fighters, one of which will be a familiar face for anybody that has played Halo 2 or Halo 3. It has been revealed that the Arbiter, an Elite that has allied with the Master Chief will be playable as a guest fighter in Killer Instinct season 3.

Alongside the addition of the Arbiter, Kim Wu will also be making a return to Killer Instinct. Kim Wu wields nun-chucks and also has a special dragon power. Kim Wu has been in Killer Instinct since 1996 so it's good to see the fighter making a return.

Season 3 of Killer Instinct will also introduce three more characters to the fighter lineup. The three new characters have been confirmed as Tusk, Gargos and Rash. Rash is a character from a well known classic 2D game called Battletoads - it's odd to see Rash as a 3D character but we can't wait to see how well he can put up a fight against the other upcoming fighters.

We're most excited about the Arbiter in Killer Instinct season 3. The trailer seems to suggest that the Arbiter's main weapon will be the Energy Sword, although we wouldn't be surprised if he has a few other tricks up his sleeve as well. The Arbiter is the second guest character in a fighting game. In Dead or Alive 4, a Spartan named Nicole was introduced as a guest.

  • Free PS Plus February Games Revealed

    ps plus february 2016

It's a brand new month and that means a brand new set of free games for all PS Plus subscribers. The PS Plus games will be available for all players for the entirety of their PS Plus subscription.

The first title on the list of free games this month is GRID Autosport for the PlayStation 3. GRID is a simulation style racing game and offers a lengthy campaign mode and great racing physics. Despite being on PlayStation 3, the visuals in GRID Autosport are pretty spectacular too. Unfortunately a PS4 port is not available.

The second PlayStation 3 title that is available for free in February is Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. Persona is a fighter franchise and number four offers decent gameplay, although the story is a little lacking.

Helldivers: Democracy Strikes Back is also available for the PlayStation 3 but this title can be picked up for the PlayStation 4 and the PS Vita too. Nom Nom Galaxy is the only PS4 exclusive title in February, whilst PS Vita owners will be able to pick up Lemmings Touch and Nova-111 for free this month.

We think this free PS Plus game lineup is pretty decent - you'll be able to get the most gameplay hours out of GRID but you could easily kill a lot of time in the other titles and Persona 4 would be a great choice if you're looking for a new fighting game that isn't Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter or Tekken.

  • February Games with Gold Lineup Revealed

    february games with gold 2016

The new free Games with Gold lineup for February 2016 has now been revealed. Players with an Xbox LIVE Gold account will be able to help themselves to a number of free games throughout February. The first two titles available for Xbox One players will be Hand of Fate - this title will be available for download from February 1st, all the way to the end of the month.

Starting from February 16, Styx: Master of Shadows will be the second exclusive Xbox One title available via the Games with Gold February lineup. Styx will remain available until March 15.

As for Xbox 360 titles, Sacred Citadel, an Xbox 360 arcade title, will be available from February 1 till February 15. After Sacred Citadel gets taken off the lineup, it will be replaced with Gears of War 2 which will remain on the lineup until February 29. All four of the titles cost just under $80 for the digital versions.

Both Gears of War 2 and Sacred Citadel can be played on the Xbox One via backwards compatibility so if you own the Xbox One you'll be able to pick up four free games this month. Once you have started downloading each of these titles, they will remain in your game library forever, even if you cancel your Gold subscription. There's no reason not to collect these games to build up your library, just make sure to collect them before they get replaced by other titles!

  • EA Launching Titanfall, Mass Effect Andromeda and New Battlefield

    ea fiscal year 2017

The upcoming year is looking to be a great one for video games, especially as far as EA is concerned. EA has recently given out its plans for fiscal year 2017, which starts in April 2016 and ends in March 2017.

It looks as if three major titles will be hitting the shelves in 2016 and early 2017, although plenty of other great titles will be launched alongside the heavy hitters. As you can imagine, none of the release dates were given for the upcoming games. EA simply confirmed that the titles were to be released during the new fiscal year.

In the statement, EA mentioned, "In Q1, we'll begin with the creative and innovative Mirror's Edge Catalyst from DICE launching in May. A great line-up of EA Sports titles are in development for next year, and we look forward to sharing more about these new experiences in the months ahead. An all-new Battlefield game from DICE will arrive in time for the holidays, we're excited to have a new Titanfall experience coming from our friends at Respawn - and of course, Mass Effect Andromeda from the team at BioWare will launch later in the fiscal year."

So, the first new title to hit the shelves will be the new Mirror's Edge title in May. Following on from that, we will be getting a new Battlefield title in 2016 in time for the holiday season and Titanfall and Mass Effect Andromeda may get released in early 2017.

  • Ark: Survival Evolved Patch Incoming for Xbox One

ark survival evolved xbox one patch

A much needed patch for Ark: Survival Evolved is headed to the Xbox One and it will bring some important tweaks and fixes to the game. So far the entire patch notes for the new Xbox One update have not been revealed but the official Ark twitter posted a small teaser of the patch notes.

In the teaser, the following information was shared.

+ Includes all PC content up thru to PC version .233
+ Split screen multiplayer supported for online and local play
    + Frame rate improvements
+ Maximum number of players in non-dedicated servers increased to 8
+ Fixed a memory leak that would eventually cause the client to crash after some time
    + Fixed multi-colored Dimorphodon

Including split screen to Ark was a surprise, especially considering singleplayer frame rate is already struggling to perform well. However, the new update does improve the overall frame rate so maybe the new Xbox One patch will allow players to play Ark: Survival Evolved on the Xbox One without lag, even when playing split screen mode.

Adding all of the PC content up to the .233 version is also exciting. This means Xbox One players will get access to new gameplay content, including new dinosaurs and wildlife, such as the Dimetrodon and the Gallimimus. Riot Armor has also been added, alongside lots of other content.

The anticipated release date for the new Xbox One patch is set for February 10. Whilst this date may change, the release is likely to be on or around this date.

  • New Dying Light DLC Expansion Gets Launch Date

    dying light dlc expansion

We've mentioned in previous articles that Dying Light was set to receive a free DLC expansion and we finally have more details about the exact release date of the upcoming content. For those unaware, Dying Light will be getting a special edition release in February and it will include the base game and all released DLC since the launch of Dying Light. The special edition release will also include the upcoming DLC expansion for free, however all existing owners of the original Dying Light will also be given the DLC expansion for free.

So when will the new Dying Light DLC be launched? Techland has revealed that the new content will be available in North America, South America and some parts of Europe on February 9. Other regions will have to wait a little longer.

The exact wait time will depend on your region. For example, the UK will receive the new Dying Light expansion for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on February 12, although the PC version will also be available on February 9. Japan will have to wait the longest as the expansion release date for Japan is April 21.

The new expansion opens up new territory in the Dying Light open world and also adds a buggy vehicle that can make traversing the world a lot easier. The buggy can also be used to mow down zombies, which will definitely be a lot of fun. The new Nightmare game difficulty level will also be added with the upcoming DLC.

  • LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens Gets Leaked

    force awakens lego

Star Wars was the first franchise to be transformed into a LEGO video game and since then LEGO video games have blown up in popularity. It only makes sense that following the release of Star Wars Episode 7, the LEGO team work towards developing a LEGO adaptation of the movie.

So far, no official confirmation has hit the internet, but a trailer of LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been leaked and it's been painted all over Youtube. According to the leak, Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set to be released June 28 on Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Wii U, Windows PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

The LEGO video game of The Force Awakens will be based upon the movie so it will include the characters that are featured in the new movie. Interestingly there will be some exclusive content that will feature gameplay that bridges the gap between Star Wars episode 6 and Star Wars episode 7.

Despite being made out of LEGO, the screens included in the trailer show that LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be one of the best looking LEGO video games ever in terms of graphical fidelity. Everything looks a lot shinier and all of the LEGO components look even truer to the real life versions.

If LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens launches on June 28 this year, will you be picking it up?

  • Rocket League for Xbox One Getting Exclusive Content

    rocket league xbox one

Soon Rocket League will finally be coming to the Xbox One. After being available for PlayStation 4 and the PC since it's release, Xbox One players have not had the chance to play Rocket League. However, Rocket League will be launching on Xbox One in February and it won't just be the exact same content as the other versions.

When the Xbox One version of Rocket League lands in February, exclusive content will be added. The exclusive content will only be cosmetic, but it can be considered a bit of an extra bonus for loyal Xbox One players. The cosmetic items have all been based on the Xbox One exclusive, Sunset Overdrive.

In Rocket League, players can customize their vehicles with a variety of attachments. They can also change their rocket fuel color and make a number of other adjustments. A lot of the cosmetic items already available in the PS4 and PC versions of Rocket League are based around popular video games or concepts so having Sunset Overdrive content will be a welcome addition. Perhaps the coolest Sunset Overdrive cosmetic item for Rocket League will be the Overcharge Rocket Booster. On top of the awesome appearance, when the booster is activated, you can hear the firing mechanism from the Ahab gun in Sunset.

The Sunset Overdrive cosmetic items will be joined alongside two new exclusive Xbox One vehicles based upon Gears of War and Halo. The vehicles are called the Armadillo and the Hogsticker.

  • Destiny Sequel May Not Be Bungie's Priority

    destiny 2016 sequel

Before Destiny was released, Bungie mentioned that they plan to have a 2 year release cycle for Destiny - this would mean that new Destiny games would hit the market every two years for at least 10 years to come. As the plans at Bungie have evolved, their monetization plans have changed too. Now, over a year after the launch of the original Destiny, Bungie's plans on a sequel have been voiced to the public.

Instead of working on a new sequel to push out in 2016, Destiny will now be launching new content updates throughout the entirety of the year - this could include smaller content updates like the upcoming Valentine's content in February, to much larger expansions that could be as large as The Taken King. It seems as if Bungie aren't even entirely sure of their own plans themselves but as the year progresses, there will definitely be a lot in store for the Destiny community.

Players should expect to see a mixture of free content, DLC content and microtransaction cosmetic items throughout 2016.

Community manager David Dague left a few words about Destiny's 2016 roadmap. "Very soon, we'll have more to share about a second, larger game update that will arrive sometime after February."

"There are more stories about 2016 that remain to be told, and you'll learn more as soon as I get my own anxious hands on the full and final details. Same goes for the rest of the February update. Until it's ready to be scrutinized under the spotlight, it's all a work in progress. I'm eager to show you what the team is working on. They're eager to do that as well. As soon as we get the greenlight, we'll roll it out. In the meantime, Crimson Days is fast approaching."
