  • Gears of War Ultimate Edition Getting 5GB Patch

gears of war ultimate edition 5gb patch

Gears of War Ultimate Edition will soon be getting a rather hefty 5GB patch that will be mandatory for all players. As you can imagine with a patch of this size, a lot of things will be changing and there will be a number of new improvements.

The first thing mentioned for the new patch are the number of playlist changes being made. For example, the Execution game mode will soon offer more XP for players. The Coalition made a few statements about the patch changes, including the increase in XP for Execution. "Execution is a mode that can be highly rewarding, but also extremely punishing. To better reward players who take on the challenge of Execution, we've increased the XP gain in the mode significantly."

The Boomshot will also be improved in the new patch - hit detection problems that occurred in the past should now be fixed. Some basic improvements to hit detection on downed enemies has also been improved and hit detection for players taking cover in Clocktower has also been improved.

Check out the additional tweaks and fixes mentioned by The Coalition below.

+ Addressed some matchmaking issues that caused long wait times
+ Small improvements to the Left Trigger Issue
+ Removed POI on Right Stick for Alternate Control Scheme
+ Bug fixes and general improvements
+ Blitz mode moved from competitive to social
+ Competitive Team Deathmatch has been added
+ Warzone is now a permanent playlist
+ Assassination has returned for a limited time

  • Pre-order the New Doom And Get Old Doom Games for Free

    new doom pre-order

If you are planning to pre-order the new Doom you may be happy to hear that you'll be receiving some additional benefits for doing so. Previously there has been no news about pre-orders for Doom and pre-ordering the game via the Xbox Game Store has not been possible so far. However, the Xbox Games Store in Australia had a little slip up and showcased the pre-order page for Doom shortly before being taken down again.

According to the Australian pre-order page for the new Doom, players will be able to receive versions of Doom 1 and Doom 2 for pre-ordering the upcoming title. It's likely that the Doom 1 and Doom 2 games that will be packed in as part of a pre-order bonus will be the same XBLA versions that are already available on the Xbox 360. Both versions are currently on sale for $5 each and backwards compatibility is already supported for both Doom 1 and Doom 2.

Giving away both arcade versions of Doom 1 and Doom 2 is a generous move by Bethesda and it's very simple for them to do. In fact, this is not the first time Bethesda has offered such a deal for pre-ordering a title. Players were previously rewarded a free digital copy of Fallout 3 for pre-ordering Fallout 4.

Other publishers have offered similar deals before as well - For example, Square Enix recently gave out free copies of Just Cause 2 to all players that pre-ordered Just Cause 3.

  • Fallout 4 Sold More Digital Copies Than Physical Copies on Day One

    fallout 4 day one sales

We have some interesting information about Fallout 4 sales to share with you. According to Bethesda’s director, Todd Howard, Fallout 4 managed to make more with digital sales on day one than it made with physical sales.

Whilst specific numbers weren't shared, Howard revealed that digital sales numbers for Fallout 4's first day of release managed to outperform physical sales numbers and Howard considered this to be, "A big change."

Whilst it is likely that physical copies made up a large portion of sales on day one, it is interesting to see that the digital format was favored over the physical version on day one. With only physical copies in mind, Fallout 4 managed to ship 12 million copies on day one alone, so sales for the digital version must have been pretty significant.

We don't have numbers on how well digital sales performed after the first week, or first month of Fallout 4's release, but we'd imagine that they managed to at least sit close with the physical sales numbers, even if they did not manage to exceed them.

Hopefully Bethesda will release some official sales figures for the physical and digital sales in the near future. It would be interesting to see how each platform is performing today.

Do you prefer to own a physical copy of a game or would you be happy to purchase a digital copy, just like millions of other Fallout 4 players across the globe?

  • File Size For The Quantum Break Digital Version Announced

    quantum break digital file size

So it looks like the file size for the digital version of Quantum Break on the Xbox One has finally been revealed. With Quantum Break heading for release in April, it's good to know how much storage space Xbox One owners will need to set aside for the upcoming Xbox One and Windows 10 exclusive title.

According to the Xbox Games Store listing for Quantum Break, the digital version will weigh in at 44.09GB. This size may not include day one patches or any additional content planned for after the initial release, but if you spare around 50-60GB for The Quantum Break you shouldn't run into any issues once preloading becomes available. Strangely the listing for The Quantum Break has now been removed so it could be possible that the previous number was a placeholder or a file size for an older build. We don't imagine the game will be much larger than the previously stated 44GB, however.

The new information does not share the PC file size. Whilst recommended specs for Quantum Break on Windows 10 were recently revealed, nothing was mentioned about the storage space needed. Quantum Break should launch on April 5 for both Xbox One and PC. Any Xbox One player can pre-order the Xbox One version and they will be given a free PC digital key for the game as well. Both versions will feature cross-play saving so you will essentially be able to switch between each version at a moment's notice.

  • Bethesda Talks Fallout 4 PC and Console Mod Support

    fallout 4 console mod support

If you've been following the development of Fallout 4 then you'll know that Bethesda has a lot of great plans for the game in the near future. Whilst Bethesda will be releasing their own additional content throughout the next year, Bethesda also want to open up new content potential via community mod support.

Not only will Fallout 4 receive mod support on the PC but for the first time mod support will also be coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. In the past we had no idea about when mod support will arrive for Fallout 4 but Bethesda has recently spoken up about their plans. Todd Howard at Bethesda recently revealed that the PC mod support should be released soon and the consoles should follow after everything has been shown to work smoothly on the PC.

Mod support should hopefully be launched between the first and second DLC packs for Fallout 4.

In an interview with GameInformer, Howard mentioned that their "Goal is between the first two DLCs. It'll go up at that time on PC. In April. All of that stuff will go up on PC. People are beta testing it. There'll be a lag on consoles. We want to get it up on PC and have it work. It'll probably be a good month before it hits Xbox One, and another month for PlayStation 4."

We can't wait to see mod support for Fallout 4. Hopefully we'll hear some more news about it as the year nears closer to April.

  • Halo 5 Hammer Storm Update Coming this Month

halo 5 hammer storm february 2016

The next free update for Halo 5 will be hitting servers later this month and like previous updates before it, it will include some new game modes for multiplayer and a range of new items that can be picked up through REQ packs.

Perhaps the biggest addition to this month's free update is the inclusion of Griffball. Griffball is one of the most popular mini games for Halo and it features two teams as they fight to pick up a ball and place it in the opposing team's goal in a small court room. The reason why Griffball is so special is because players are loaded up with gravity hammers and energy swords.

Speaking of gravity hammers, this weapon will be making a big splash in Warzone this month - available as a rare REQ, the gravity hammer is sure to have a big impact on the playing field. It's hard to say whether there will be any extra REQs for the gravity hammer but the new Hammer Storm update will include a number of extra REQs for the assault rifle and the DMR.

Some new gun skins will be added in Hammer Storm alongside a number of new armor items, including the featured Decimator and Marauder armor sets.

Finally, the new Hammer Storm update will be introducing a brand new 343-created arena map named Torque. Unlike previous map releases, Torque has been crafted by 343 outside of Forge so it really is a brand new map in every sense of the word.

  • Knack 2 Might Be In Development

    knack 2 development

Thanks to the power of the internet, we may have just been spoiled to some information that the Knack developers didn't want to reveal. A 3D animator working at Knack recently posted Knack 2 on their CV. In the CV it stated that Knack 2 has been in development since May last year.

The CV, which is available on LinkedIn, was first discovered by a member of the NeoGAF forum. The CV originally stated that the 3D animator, named Mindy Liang, was working on "animated 3D character motions and cutscenes" on Knack 2 for the PlayStation 4 since May 2015.

As you can imagine, the CV has since been edited and any mention of Knack 2 has been removed. Fortunately the internet never forgets.

What's important to note about this information is that whilst Knack 2 could still be in development, it’s possible that Knack 2 is not going to launch at all. With fairly low scores from players and critics alike, it would be understandable if the developers working on Knack 2 started up the project before dropping it completely.

Another possibility is that Knack 2 could actually be in development but it may be a while before we hear anything official from the development team. Either way, we'd be happy to hear more news about a Knack sequel. The concept for the IP is great and if the developers revisited it, they could potentially make things work a lot better this time round.

  • Quantum Break Coming April 5

    quantum break april 5

We've got some good news for anybody interested in the upcoming Xbox One exclusive Quantum Break. Firstly, Quantum Break has been set for an April 5 release and secondly, the game will no longer be an exclusive Xbox One title.

That's right, Quantum Break will no longer be just available for the Xbox One. Whilst the game will not be coming to PlayStation 4, it will be launching on Windows 10. To make things even better, any Xbox One owners that have already pre-order Quantum Break will receive a free copy for the Windows 10 version when it launches on April 5 as well.

If you're interested in the Quantum Break PC version, it will launch through the Windows 10 store and a digital key will be provided for you so that you can download. This means that Quantum Break will not be available through Steam or similar online platforms.

To sweeten the deal, all Xbox One pre-orders for Quantum Break will also have some additional benefits. Firstly, Remedy Entertainment's Alan Wake will now be available as a free download for every Xbox One player that pre-orders Quantum Break. Secondly, the two add-on packs, The Signal and The Writer, will be thrown into the bundle as well. Whilst Alan Wake is only available on Xbox 360, backwards compatibility support will be available before Quantum Break is released on April 5.

This isn't the only news for Quantum Break. Alongside the PC and pre-order announcements, a brand new Xbox One bundle featuring a 500GB Cirrus White Xbox One console, a paired Xbox One controller, a copy of Quantum Break and a digital download for Alan Wake has also been announced.

  • Grand Theft Auto Gets 'Be My Valentine' Update

    gta online be my valentine

To fit in with plenty of other trending video games, Rockstar has released a brand new patch for Grand Theft Auto Online that fits in with Valentine's Day. Whilst the update adds some timed exclusive Valentine's Day themed content, some new permanent features have been added too.

Like previous updates, all of the content has been designed specifically for GTA Online, but some of the items, such as vehicles and clothing options, should be available in the singleplayer portion of GTA V too.

The first of the newly announced items for the Valentine's Day update is a brand new vehicle called the Albany Roosevelt Valor. This vehicle has been described as being an "Updated take on the classic Roosevelt," and it has "A range of exciting modifications available to apply at Los Santos Customs."

Rockstar also stated that the new update has added a bunch of new clothing items, some of which have been themed for Valentine's Day. Rockstar mentioned that the update includes "New Suits, Vests, Dresses, Bustiers, Boxer Shorts, Stockings and more."

On top of all of the new content, there are plenty of double RP opportunities available until February 18 and a brand new adversary mode called 'Till Death Do Us Part' has been added to GTA Online too.

The Till Death Do Us Part adversary mode features 6 player PVP. With three teams of two, players must work closely with their partner to take out the other two teams.

  • Halo 5 Valentine's Playlist Goes Live

    halo 5 valentines day

To celebrate the occasion, 343 Industries has added a timed playlist into the Halo 5 arena. The new game mode pitches players against each other in a 2v2 battle. The new 2v2 game mode is called Valentine's Double Date.

The new 2v2 game mode features 2v2 battles on custom maps that have been filled with hearts and other Valentine themed items. The game mode for the Valentine's Double Date mode is limited to Slayer and players will start with the Halo 2 version of the Battle Rifle.

When you first hop into Halo 5 after the latest update, you'll see a pop-up message showing off the new playlist. As you can imagine, the update is unlikely to stay up for long. With that being said, the Valentine's day playlist is still currently live at the time of writing. It's great to see that 343 Industries are active and ready to create all sorts of free content for the Halo community, even if it is something as small as this latest playlist update.

Hopefully this marks the start of all sorts of themed playlist events to come in the future. Perhaps we'll see something special for Easter, and if not, we're bound to see something for Independence Day, Thanksgiving, Halloween and the holiday season. On top of themed events, 343 Industries are also actively working on free content for Halo 5 which will include new skins, new armor types, new REQ packs and of course new playlist types for Halo 5 arena.
