• NBA 2K18 Prelude Demo Available for Free

nba 2k18 prelude demoIf you're not getting excited for NBA 2K18 yet, the new Prelude demo might get you interested.

The Prelude demo is available for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners and will give players a chance to try out NBA 2K18 for free in anticipation of the game's impending release.

With Prelude, players get to dip their feet in the new MyCareer mode. Players will also be given the opportunity to test out the Neighborhoods mode.

In Neighborhoods, players are given access to an online social space where they can interact with other players, challenge others to games, and play various activities, some of which can improve their player's stats.

Interestingly, the developers are letting players keep hold of the progress they make during the Prelude demo. If you improve your character's stats, change your character's appearance, or make any other progress, it'll stay with your account when you purchase and play the full game.

NBA 2K18 is set to launch on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PS3, Xbox 360, and PC on September 19. However, those who have preordered the game are given the opportunity to play the game four days earlier on September 15.

Are you interested in NBA 2K18 and the new MyCareer and MyPark changes? If you're on the fence, we'd suggest giving the Prelude demo a download. It's free to download and play and will be available up until NBA 2K18 launches later this month.

  • Tekken 7 Player Knee Gets Signed With ROX

tekken 7 knee roxROX has taken their first steps into the world of fighting games by signing legendary Tekken 7 player Knee.

Knee is a South Korean Tekken 7 player that's currently considered to be amongst the very best. Knee is a very respected Tekken player, and many in the Tekken community will often look up to him and his fighter tier lists.

After Knee's recent performance at the 2017 Evolution Championship Series, in which Knee placed third, ROX approached Knee with a deal. As expected, Knee happily took the deal and he's now a part of the ever-growing ROX family.

Knee has pulled in wins and trophies from around the world in Tekken tournaments since 2007. 10 years later, Knee is still going strong and he's still considered to be one of the best players, if not the best, in the scene.

ROX made a statement on the recent acquisition of Knee. "We were impressed with Knee's consistent level of play and his ability to perform at the highest level for over a decade now," said Eliot Namgung, Director of Esports for ROX Gaming. "His personality, skill level and class all align with the ideals that ROX instills in its players and teams."

Knee also made his own statement, mentioning that Knee will try even harder now that he's joined the ROX family. Does this mean we'll be seeing Knee going in even harder in future events? That'd certainly be exciting to see.

  • Injustice 2 to Feature Gear System

injustice 2 gear systemFighting games can be highly competitive titles. They're so competitive, in fact, that even the smallest of balancing changes can make or break a player's viability at high-level play. For this reason, the newly announced Injustice 2 gear system is a little scary.

Injustice 2 will be getting a gear system that players will be able to follow as a sense of progression while playing. All of the cosmetic choices available with the gear options are exciting, and players will have to work hard to get some of the rarer items. The scary part is that these gear items do offer players with inherent bonuses.

Firstly, players will be able to improve their favorite character's base stats simply by leveling up over time. That's right, players that play for longer will not only have a higher skill level, but they'll also have a distinct in-game advantage. Injustice 2 will also support a loop drop system that will allow players to earn loot from finishing and winning games. The loot rewarded to players feature additional stats boosts.

The stats that players will be able to improve by leveling up characters or by equipping unlocked gear are strength, health, defense, and ability. Strength determines the amount of damage dealt, health determines the amount of health points, and defense determines the amount of damage that can be blocked out.

The final stat, ability, is a little different. This one affects how often a character can perform their special abilities. More special abilities can be equipped through the gear system as well.

Every last item provides some kind of stat boost, with rarer items providing more specific changes. Wearing an entire set of the the same items, for example, a headpiece, torso, legs, arms and unique character specific item from the same set will provide players with a set bonus.

So how does this system affect competitive play? The best solution the Injustice 2 developers have is the ability to switch off item and level bonuses when searching for online matches. For this reason, the game will most likely remain a system for casual players to get more involved with their favorite characters. High level and competitive play will most likely see the 'stats bonuses' feature switched off.

  • Sony's PlayStation Plus Free Games Delayed

playstation plus free gamesUnfortunately, Sony has failed to release March's PlayStation Plus free games, and Sony has released a small statement explaining why this has happened.

According to Sony's Fred Dutton in a new PlayStation blog post, they have not managed to finalize the lineup in time for March, and it may be a little while before they are given the go ahead to release the free PS Plus titles.

"I appreciate you're all really keen to see the line-up and that it's frustrating having to hang on a bit longer than usual. Alas, we're still not quite ready to make the announcement."

"I can't give you a firm time at present as to when the post will go live, but we're working to get it to you as soon as possible. It may well be next week at this stage."

By the sounds of things, it is looking unlikely that we'll see the free games lineup in the few days of March, and we may even have to wait till the second week of March before the games are live. This is unfortunate, but Sony does need to confirm six different games with up to six developers before they can go ahead with deals like this.

Whilst Sony has had a few hiccups this month, Xbox has already released their lineup, touting three great games, including Rayman Legends, Tomb Raider and Bioshock Infinite.

So far, we have no idea what games will be part of the PS Plus lineup, but as soon as we know we shall let you know.

  • Bungie Dev Seen with Level 42 destiny Gear

bungie dev with level 42 gearIn Destiny, the whole point of continuing to play is to earn the best gear you possibly can, but because of the random loot drops, it often comes down to chance, forcing players to play through high level raids again and again.

The most played raid at the moment is the Vault of Glass, and whilst a lot of players have managed to get some nice loot from the raid legitimately, one player named BungieHelp02 clearly hasn't been playing by the rules.

Thanks to a video by Reddit user AerobicPie73630 we can get a glimpse of BungieHelp02's loadout and inventory. The first thing that is noticeable is that the character has a 365 damage Shadow Price, one of the rarest Legendary drops from the Vault of Glass. The same can be said for his Unfriendly Giant rocket launcher.

The most interesting item in BungieHelp02's loadout is the Prime Zealot Cuirass. The item has 536 defense and an insane light level of 42. Finally, the Bungie dev has a special Sparrow named the SV7 "Lightbearer" with the description "A high-end Sparrow earned by those Guardians who prove their worth in the Trials of Osiris."

It's clear this loot was not earned from the current live game, so do you think it's fair for Bungie devs to run around with such great gear on, even if they are just showing it off whilst helping other players in-game? We think it's pretty cool to see this gear regardless, and hopefully players will have a chance of getting items of this light level in the near future.

  • Xbox One Achievements Aren't tied to Games

Although some details are still under wraps about the Xbox One, Microsoft did share a few details about the achievement system, saying that the system has had some fundamental changes to the way it works and how players interact with their achievements.

Unlike with the Xbox 360, achievements won't be tied down to games, and whilst there are likely to be game-specific achievements, it sounds as if you'll be able to progress with achievements across multiple games.

It could be possible that some games can contribute to achievements like '1,000 total headshots' but I can imagine most of these achievements to be things like '50 total hours played' or '25 games played.'

Players will also be able to upload and share footage of their games and achievement progress, similarly to the PlayStation 4's new share feature that was revealed earlier this year.

Currently details are a bit sparse, but it's likely we'll hear more about the new dynamic achievement system soon.
