  • Gran Turismo Sport Getting Free Demo

gran turismo sport demo ps4If you're not sure if you'll be interested in the upcoming Gran Turismo Sport racing game for the PlayStation 4, you may want to give the free demo a try.

Sony has confirmed that PS4 owners will be able to give Gran Turismo Sport a test run for free from October 9 until October 12. This will essentially follow the same beta pre-release model many triple-A publishers have been following in recent years.

If you're a PS Plus member, you'll get more time than those without PS Plus. Firstly, PS Plus members will be given the option to preload the Gran Turismo Sport demo before its starting date on October 9. They'll also be able to get started on October 9 at 12 AM, while non-Plus members must wait until 6 PM.

The preload period for PS Plus members will start on October 7. Players who earn money or unlock cars in the Gran Turismo demo can also transfer their progress to the full release later in the month on October 17.

All car unlocks can be transferred to the full game and in-game earnings up to $1,000,000 can also be transferred.

In the demo, three different modes will be available. These modes are Sport Mode, Arcade, and Campaign. Arcade mode is described as "a wide range of vehicle classes on three pre-selected circuit configurations with different terrains." This mode also supports two-player split screen.

Sport mode challenges players to achieve the best lap time possible, whereas Campaign mode gives players a career to progress through that'll include a series of races, challenges, and Daily Workouts.

  • New Doom Free Update Launched

    doom-free-update

A brand new free update for Doom has landed and it features a number of interesting new features.

Firstly, the campaign mode for Doom now has a new scoring mode. The new scoring mode is called Arcade and it will give players score for completing levels as quickly and with as little failures as possible. In arcade mode, all items will be unlocked, so players will be able to make a choice about what to equip themselves with for the best possible outcome.

The new update also adds new features to the SnapMap level editor. Players will now be able to use assets from the classic Doom games. Not only has ID Software opened the doors for potential Doom classic remakes, but they've released a number of classic style maps that were made from SnapMap for players to try.

Multiplayer has been given some love too - A new game mode has been added called Possession. It's your typical infected game type where a group of marines have to fight against player-controlled Prowlers. If a marine gets killed, they'll respawn as a Prowler. The game continues until all players are converted or the time limit runs out.

A new FFA mode has been added to multiplayer too. The new game mode is called Bloodrush - in this, players have a constantly draining meter. If they kill an enemy or get an assist, the meter will temporarily be boosted. If you die, your bar will drain quicker and the in-play bar drain will speed up as the game continues. Once the bar is drained completely, that player is out of the game. The last player standing wins.

  • Chucke E. Cheese

Nostalgia about Chuck E. Cheese and Arcades

I remember when I was a young lad, I remembered living in my rural town of Ottawa, Illinois. At times, my family would have to make trips to the suburb towns of Chicago like Schaumburg, Oakbrook, and others. I remember my mom, my sisters, and I would head to Joliet to get our car repaired. Right next door to the dealership was a Chuck E. Cheese (previously known as Showbiz Pizza, before it's merge in the early 1990s). I'd beg my mom to take us and while sometimes my sisters disagreed, we went.

Places like these have a bit of a sentimental feeling to myself. Aside from the occasional trip, I remember celebrating birthdays at Chuck E. Cheese's & Showbiz Pizza locations. My first memory I remembered was my third birthday at the same Joliet location I mentioned previously.

Chuck E. Cheese is probably my generation's first memory of what an arcade is. Back then, they didn't hold back on the latest video games at the time. I remembered playing Street Fighter II, Killer Instinct, and even Mortal Kombat at a Chuck E. Cheese's (today you won't see such games in a Chuck E. Cheese's as they are promoting a more family friendly atmosphere). It is kind of sad that these days that the arcade is now a thing of the past (due to the console has now surpassed the arcade cabinet in technology) and places like Chuck E. Cheese are fading out slowly, but those that are still up and running are still giving kids of today that first taste of video games and arcades.

While I am too old for Chuck E. Cheese's today, I still have the great memories and can sort of relive it with some of the adult-aimmed video game centers that are available today.

  • Billy Mitchell Opens an Arcade

Record breaker opens up Arcade near Orlando Airport

If you watched "The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters," you know Billy Mitchell, the man who has been sort of labeled as the evil villain of the retro-arcade gaming world. Well he recently opened an arcade at Orlando's airport with the name that of the movie. What's more oddly enough is that with good guy Steve Wiebe is also featured as part of the arcade's entrance as seen here but I think the way Billy made the picture was to glorify himself and make Steve look a bit....dull and confused. If that's true, the guy's living up to the vision that was given to him in the movie. However....

With the arcade sporting the name of the movie, it must mean everyone's on....possibly Steve also. Which could mean that the rivalry between the two turned into some kind of across the borders mutual relationship. That's one possibility. Who knows?

While the arcade is up and running stocked it doesn't have a Donkey Kong machine. And also it lacks the classic titles of the past, since it sports the movie's name and the movie was about record breaking in the retro gaming world. My guess is that the airport business staff likely didn't see the movie and thought more modern games would generate more income.

    The arcade sports the following:

    • Dead Heat
    • Terminator Salvation
    • Super Bikes 1 (2 sets of them)
    • Avatar pinball machine
    • Air hockey table
    • Aliens Extermination

If are you are at Orlando International Airport, best to look for this arcade...despite the lack of RETRO ARCADE GAMES in an ARCADE that sports the name of a movie about RETRO ARCADE GAMES.
