• Overwatch: D.Va To Get a Big Rework

overwatch dvaOverwatch developers, Blizzard, are preparing for a much-needed rework for D.Va. The new update will change her ultimate ability and make a number of other changes to how she works in-game.

For a long time, players have complained about how overpowered D.Va was. As it is right now, D.Va starts the game as an off-tank, with lots of health points and a considerable amount of damage. On its own, the first form of D.Va can be dealt with without too much difficulty.

However, when D.VA loses her mech and hops on foot, her fast movement speed and her ridiculously small hitboxes make her a nightmare to deal with.

The biggest problem with D.Va, however, is without a doubt her Defense Matrix ability. With Defense Matrix, D.Va can protect herself and others from incoming damage. In the rework, Defense Matrix will get a nerf - it will last for half as long.

To balance out the nerf, D.Va will be given a new ability that will help her to play more aggressively.

The new ability is called Micro Missiles and description about the ability from Blizzard has been provided below.

"D.Va launches a long salvo of small missiles that explode on impact, dealing damage in a small radius around them. This ability can be used while using her other abilities or firing her Fusion Cannons."

What are your thoughts on these new changes? Do you think Blizzard is moving D.Va in the right direction, or did they make the wrong move?

  • New Overwatch Map, Junkertown Announced

overwatch map junkertownA brand new Overwatch map has been announced. The new map is called Junkertown and it was first announced at Gamescom.

The new map will be an escort map and the environment has been created to represent Junkrat and Roadhog's home town.

In the lore, Junkertown is set in the heart of Australia. This was one of the countries to get impacted by the Omnic crisis the hardest, and as a result, the entire environment is falling to pieces. Buildings and shelters are put together with whatever scrap material can be found.

Those that live in Junkertown are known as Junkers. Originally, both Junkrat and Roadhog lived within Junkertown as Junkers, too. However, the duo was caught stealing from the queen of Junkertown. As punishment, both Junkrat and Roadhog were exiled from the city.

To go alongside the map announcement, Blizzard released a brand new video on their Youtube channel that showed Junkrat and Roadhog explaining the new Junkertown map.

The video is filled with jokes and laughs and gives an insight into the personalities of both Junkrat and Roadhog.

So far, a release date for Junkertown hasn't been announced, but Blizzard has mentioned that the map will be coming to Overwatch soon.

What are your thoughts on the new Junkertown map? Are you excited to get access to a new free escort map soon, or are you more interested in new characters for Overwatch?

Recently, Doomfist was finally released to Overwatch and many players are already finding him to be a perfect pick for a good team composition.

  • Overwatch League Gets First Competitive Teams

overwatch league teamsA number of teams have now been chosen to participate in the Overwatch League. More details are provided in the article.

When the Overwatch League was first announced, it had high ambitions to turn their eSports league into a league similar in proportion and style to the NFL or the NHL. Blizzard had hoped to allow cities and popular locations across the world to host their own teams, just like in the NHL and NFL.

Some of the first teams in part of this new formula have now been announced, with some of the teams being backed by some very well-known (and wealthy) individuals.

To begin with, Robert Kraft, owner of the New England Patriots, recently purchased an Overwatch team for the Boston area.

Jeff Wilpon, the COO of the New York Mets, is looking to build a team for the New York area.

It's not just traditional sports names getting involved with the Overwatch League, either. Noah Whinston, CEO of Immortals, has confirmed that he's building a team for the Los Angeles area.

Two more eSports organizations are also getting involved. With Ben Spoont, CEO and of Misfits Gaming, covering the Miami area, and Andy Miller, founder of NRG eSports, bringing Overwatch to San Francisco.

And of course, we can't forget the international teams. Over in China, NetEase will be getting a team for Shanghai sorted, and finally, the Seoul team will be sourced by Kevin Chou, co-founder of Kabam.

Announcements for more teams are sure to roll in soon, and after that, the Overwatch League will be underway.

  • Orisa is Now Available in Competitive

orisa available competitive overwatchAfter a short induction period in quick play, Orisa is now available for play in competitive mode in Overwatch.

For those out of the loop, Orisa is a brand new hero that recently got added to the Overwatch roster. Orisa can be found in the tank category. Players have remarked that she offers a utility kit somewhat in between Bastion and Reinhardt. For example, Orisa has the ability to lay down shields that can block incoming damage, just like Reinhardt’s shield. Orisa's basic weapon is also fairly similar to Bastions' turret ability.

Orisa's ultimate allows her to boost the damage of players in her vicinity. For now, many players are still getting to grips with Orisa and we're not sure where she'll sit on the competitive meta if anywhere at all. With Reinhardt, Zarya and Roadhog still dominating the tank game, and other picks like D.Va and Winston still being relevant, it's hard to see where Orisa will fit in on the table.

It'll certainly take some more time to see what Orisa is truly capable of. For now, she's considered a well-rounded champion and her skills offer a lot of utility to the team. With that in mind, however, she's missing that special something to make her a star tank player currently.

We wouldn't say Orisa need a buff but it'll be some time before high tier competitive players get to grips with her. We'd love to see her be a regular pick in competitive games.

Have you tried out Orisa yet? What are your thoughts on this new tank hero? Think she could be a new game-changer, or is she lagging behind the top tanks?

  • Overwatch: Lucio is Getting a Damage Buff

overwatch lucio damage buffWith the new public test realm live on the PC, we can start to see some of the changes to Overwatch's Lucio.

For a long time, Lucio has been considered to be one of the top tier support heroes in Overwatch. His ability to heal his entire team with an automatic area of effect has proven to be the game winner in countless situations. Lucio's ultimate ability has helped teams fight off enemies in scenarios that would otherwise be unsurvivable.

In the public test realm, all of that is about to change, although he'll be getting some buffs to his own personal performance alongside these changes. Soon, Lucio's radius on his area of effect ability will be limited from 30 meters down to just 10 meters. This is quite a big jump and will make a massive difference in team fights where Lucio's team is spread thin.

To balance this change a little, the healing done from Lucio's healing song has actually been increased by 50%, so if you are within the radius of Lucio, you'll get even more heals. This will put pressure on Lucio players to actually travel between players that need healing. This will mean Lucio players will be required to adopt a more active playstyle to heal their teammates, in a similar fashion to Mercy or Ana.

Lucio will also be getting a buff to his own abilities. The projectile speed of his basic weapon will be an increase from 40 to 50, and his wall running will give Lucio a 30 percent movement speed boost. Jumping off of a wall will also temporarily boost Lucio's speed. By the sound of it, Lucio will become even harder to hit, and his additional speed will help him to travel between heroes that need his support.

Many Overwatch players are considering this patch to be a nerf to Lucio, but with a more active playstyle, Lucio players could potentially benefit from these new changes.

  • Overwatch Hero Orisa Now On Live Servers

overwatch hero orisaAfter a short time on the public test environment on the PC, Orisa, a new hero in Overwatch, has been added to the live servers for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

The new hero, named Orisa, is a brand new tank hero for Overwatch. To begin with, Orisa will not be available in competitive play. For the first few weeks, Orisa will be limited to Quick Play, Arcade and the Play Vs. AI modes. Blizzard has explained that they'd like their player base to get to learn how Orisa works before she is thrown into the competitive meta.

While Orisa is a tank, she has an arsenal of abilities to help protect her team, which makes her a viable support as well. Her main weapon is called the Fusion Driver - it can deal consistent damage to enemies, but Orisa is slowed down the longer the weapon is used as a throwback. Her alternate fire is called Halt and this allows Orisa to create a small detonated charge that can slow enemies.

Orisa's ultimate ability is called Supercharger. With this, Orisa can fire a device that can buff the damage output of all nearby enemies. Orisa's other abilities include Protective Barrier, which is a static shield that can block incoming damage, and Fortify, which reduces the amount of damage Orisa can take for a short period of time.

In other news, a recent patch in the public test environment brought a number of changes to Lucio. These changes will soon go live to the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and public PC servers.

  • New Overwatch Character Orisa Announced

overwatch orisaAfter what seemed like an endless wait, the next Overwatch character has finally been announced. The next Overwatch character to make it into the roster is named Orisa, and she is already playable in the public test realm.

It may be some time before Orisa gets pushed to live servers and to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, but we still have all of the information we could possibly need about Orisa from the public test realm.

Orisa has been nicknamed the "Mechanical Peacekeeper" and unexpectedly she has a very robotic appearance. Orisa is a straight out tank, and once again her appearance really shows it. She's big - Orisa is essentially a robotic centaur with a gattling gun.

Her main abilities allow Orisa to provide barriers and shield to her team, which gives teammates the option to tank it out themselves for a little longer in fights. Her ultimate is called Supercharger and this is the only offensive ability she has in her arsenal. With Supercharger, Orisa boosts the damage of her surrounding teammates for a short period.

Hopefully, it won't be long before Orisa is pushed out to live servers and to the console versions of Overwatch. The last character to launch was Sombre, and this character spent a long time in the public test realm before finally being pushed to the live servers. Orisa seems, on the surface, a lot easier to balance, so hopefully we won't be waiting too long whatsoever.
