We talked a little bit about the next Gearbox game last week, but back then, all we knew about it was that it was going to be a new game within the Borderlands IP. We still know very few details about the game, but we do now know a title, (or a subtitle at least) as well as a bit more information.
The next borderlands has been named as Borderlands 3, so it should continue directly from where the other two left off, instead of branching off into a different direction like Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel did.
Another very interesting piece of information shared by Gearbox recently is that Borderlands 3 will not be making it's way to any other consoles other than current gen. We do expect it will be released for PC, but besides from that, only PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players will be able to get their hands on the next Gearbox game.
This is an understandable move - the hardware in older consoles are likely to just keep the development and potential of the game to a bare minimum, and if Borderlands 3 is going to be the "big one" like Randy Pitchford previously suggested, then we are going to need as much console power as we can get.
So far, we have no idea about a release date for Borderlands 3, although it's unlikely to be released at any point this year.
Are you looking forwards to Borderlands 3, or are you going to pass?
