• New Street Fighter V DLC Character Revealed

new street fighter dlc abigailThe next DLC character for Street Fighter V has now been revealed. Learn more about the new character coming to SFV in this article.

The new character coming to Street Fighter V as part of a new DLC pack is Abigail.

Abigail is a bulky character that was first introduced to Street Fighter players back in 1989 in Final Fight, an arcade title set in the same universe as the Street Fighter franchise.

Despite appearing such a long time ago, Abigail has not been in a Street Fighter game since. In that regards, Abigail is essentially a new character to make their way into SFV.

In Final Fight, Abigail's fighting style focuses on brute force and heavy-handed attacks, as opposed to finesse and well-timed punches. If players leave their guard down, Abigail will be able to pick up his opponents and throw them around like toys.

It looks as if Abigail will be more balanced out in Street Fighter V - this means he'll have a little more mobility than other bulky fighters, such as Hugo.

If you already have the Street Fighter V Season 2 character pass, you'll be able to pick up Abigail for free. If you don't have the pass, you'll be able to purchase him separately. So far, a price tag hasn't been announced.

Abigail will be introduced to Street Fighter V on July 25, alongside two new retro costumes and a brand new stage called Suzaku Castle.

  • Better Online Matchmaking Coming to Street Fighter V

street fighter v matchmakingCapcom is looking to team up with Bandai Namco to improve the matchmaking experience for Street Fighter V players.

Chances are, you may have noticed some network issues or latency with the Street Fighter V online servers. It's something that Capcom has acknowledged themselves, and they're actively looking to improve the situation.

In fact, Capcom is trying so hard to improve their online experience that they're teaming up with a team that knows how to do online matchmaking right; Bandai Namco.

The Tekken 7 matchmaking experience is far superior to what's offered in Street Fighter V, so the partnership between Bandai Namco and Capcom to improve the server performance in SF5 makes perfect sense.

Interestingly, the statement released by Capcom seemed to suggest that Bandai Namco and Capcom would be working together on more than just matchmaking performance in the future. This looks like the start of a long, beneficial partnership for both parties. You can see the full statement below.

"Capcom Co., Ltd. today announced that it has entered into a cross-licensing agreement with BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Inc. related to online matching in properties such as the Street Fighter series.

The purpose of this agreement is to improve the user experience while accelerating the production of titles and reducing development costs for both parties. Further, with this cross-license for online matching, Capcom aims to effectively utilize the patents it has been granted in game series such as Street Fighter in order to deliver even more exciting content to game players.

With this agreement as a starting point, Capcom will continue to explore cross-licensing opportunities in order to safeguard its patents while improving the user experience and contributing to a healthier game industry."

Are you looking forward to this Bandai Namco-Capcom partnership?

  • Street Fighter to Hit ELEAGUE

street fighter v eleagueWell, well, well - what a surprise! Street Fighter will be a part of the next ELEAGUE and will be televised across the world on the TBS network.

The fighting game community hasn't quite had the same growth in the last few years that the FPS and MOBA genres have. Finally though, Street Fighter V is coming to ELEAGUE and it could mean great things for competitive fighting games in the following years.

The ELEAGUE Street Fighter V invitational event will begin on March 27 and it will run through March 30. A total of 48 players have been invited to the event, most of which have of course had their names heard in previous Street Fighter V events.

Thanks to the amazing Capcom Pro Tour rankings, ELEAGUE has already sourced 32 of the highest rated players on the leaderboards. 16 more players will be invited to the ELEAGUE Street Fighter V event by Capcom. So far we're not sure who these 16 players will be, but they're likely to be competing players or those well known in the scene.

The prize pool for the ELEAGUE Street Fighter V tournament will be $250,000 and the invitational event will take place at the G Fuel ELeague Arena in Atlanta. After the invitational event is over, ELEAGUE will broadcast four weekly events on Friday, April 7, Friday, April 21, Friday, May 5 and Friday, May 12. All four of these events will also be available for viewing on Twitch.

The final event will take place on May 26 - this event will see the final few battling it out live, and the grand finals will be held at 10 PM ET and broadcasted on TBS.

The tournament will take place on May 27 - during the event, a total of 256 players will compete for a chance to win a grand prize. On May 28, any winners from the previous days and any prestigious players lucky to have received an invite will fight it out till the grand finals later that day.

So far we have a total of eight professional players have been invited to the Red Bull Kumite event. The first four to receive their invitations were Tokido, Xiao Hai, PR Balrog, and RB. The biggest name to stand out here is, of course, Tokido - a player that has already battled his way to the grand finals of two previous Kumite events from Red Bull.

A couple of days after the first four players were announced, four new players were brought into the mix by Red Bull. These four are Nemo, Infexious, Mister Crimson, and Bonchan. All of these players have come a long way in their respective fighting game communities so it'll be very exciting to see them all battle it out in Street Fighter V during the tournament at the end of May.

  • Resident Evil 7 DLC Out Today

resident evil 7 banned footageA brand new Resident Evil 7 DLC pack is now available on the PlayStation 4.

After the launch on January 24, Resident Evil 7 has already received its second DLC expansion. This new expansion has been named Banned Footage Vol. 2 and it follows the first Banned Footage volume. The new DLC includes 2 missions and a new 'comical' game mode.

The first new mission in the new Resident Evil 7 DLC is called 21 Scenario, which Capcom has provided a small description for. "Gamble life and limb in a deadly game run by Lucas Baker."

The second mission in the new DLC is called Daughters Scenario and this serves as a prequel to the storyline in the missions in the base game.

The new game mode that's been bundled with the DLC expansion is named Jack's 55th Birthday, in which players are tasked with feeding Jack Baker, the main villain in Resident Evil 7, with large amounts of food. It sounds odd, but it's surprisingly enjoyable and equally as hilarious.

Currently, the Resident Evil 7 Banned Footage Vol. 2 DLC is only available on the PlayStation 4. It will remain exclusive to the PS4 until February 21, at which point the DLC will be released on Xbox One and PC. The original Banned Footage Vol.1 DLC is still only available on PS4, but volume 1 will be released alongside the new DLC on February 21 as well.

  • Kolin Will be Introduced to Street Fighter V on February 28

Kolin Street Fighter VCapcom has revealed that Kolin will be introduced to Street Fighter V on February 28, and one more character will follow every month following Kolin's release.

In the statement, a small look into the lore behind Kolin was provided: "After working in the shadows for Gill and the secret Illuminati organization, Kolin makes her Street Fighter V debut. First appearing in Street Fighter III, Kolin works behind the scenes in order to fulfill the Prophecy of Miraha and stop any who dare stand in Gill's way. She is typically calm and collected, but can suddenly fly into a rage when anybody threatens Gill and his plans."

It was also mentioned that "Kolin excels in the Russian martial art of Systema, utilizing the opponent's momentum against them and executing various slash-like attacks and knife hand strikes. Gill has bestowed upon her the power of ice, allowing her to augment her fight style with frigid blasts and deadly icicles. She is often heard speaking condescendingly towards her opponents, knowing they don't stand a chance before her, let alone Gill."

Kolin's unique counter allows her to "deflect and automatically punish incoming moves with ease," while a full V-meter can allow Kolin to "slam the ground twice with her foot, each time shooting out a path of sharp icicles across the floor. In addition to damage and stun, this move freezes the opponent's stun gauge. While in this special state, the stun gauge will not deplete and if Kolin is successful in stunning the opponent, they will be frozen in place."

Are you excited to see Kolin be introduced to Street Fighter V?

  • First 2017 Capcom Pro Tour Event Announced

capcom pro tour final round 20The first official Capcom Pro Tour event for 2017 has been announced.

The upcoming event is Final Round 20 and it will be the first event of this year to be included in Capcom Pro Tour rankings. Final Round has been a part of the Capcom Pro Tour in the past, and Fight Round 20 will be the third year running. It's not yet been confirmed whether Final Round 20 will be a Ranking or a Premier event, but some other details have been confirmed.

After last year's miscommunication from Fight Round 20, the bracket system will work. For example, last year Fight Round held a Premier event for the 2016 Capcom Pro Tour, but because of the lack of access to online brackets, it was very hard for players to figure out exactly who had made it out of the original stages and into the Top 128.

This year, the pools will be played out over two days instead of one, and the platform will be used to track matches and provide accessible online brackets for anybody to view.

So far we know that Final Round 20 will take place on March 10 and will continue until March 12. The event will be held in Atlanta, Georgia. More details about location and the chosen venue will be released nearer to the event start date.

After the success of the Capcom Pro Tour in 2016, we cannot wait to see how things will pan out this year. We think 2017 could be a very big one for Street Fighter.

  • HungryBox has Broken Finger

hungrybox-broken-finger-genesis-4After going full-time Smash pro, the worst thing that could happen to a Smash player would be to have their finger or hand broken.

Unfortunately for Hungrybox, exactly that has happened. During a game of Dodgeball, Hungrybox ended up breaking his index finger, which might just be one of the most important fingers for playing games on a controller.

The injury was a fracture in the top knuckle of Hungrybox's index finger. With Genesis 4 just around the corner, it was first rumored that Hungrybox would not attend the event at all.

However, Hungrybox is going to soldier on - he will remap his controller so that use of his index finger is kept to an absolute minimum. As a result of this, Hungrybox may not be at top form, but we still feel he has a good chance at ranking high at Genesis 4.

It's frustrating to see such a thing happen, but we can't wait to see how Hungrybox performs despite his injury. Fortunately, the injury should heal within a few weeks, so he won't be out of the game for very long.

With Genesis 4 starting on January 20, his finger won't be completely healed until after the event.

Do you think Hungrybox is doing the right thing to attend the event regardless of his injury, or should he sit it out so that his finger can heal properly? We'd love to hear your opinions on this topic.

    - Updated Rage Quit System

The current Rage Quit System has resulted in a significant decrease in rage quitting. That said, we always planned to take this one step further and are ready to further address the issue with this update. In addition to losing League Points and being locked out of online matchmaking for a set time, the following additions have been made to the system.

  • Surprising Win at 2GGT ZeRo Saga

2ggt-zero-sagaAfter an incredible performance from ZeRo this year, it was a surprise to see that a player managed to outperform him in an event sporting ZeRo's name.

Funnily enough, this wasn't the first time ZeRo has lost at his own event. In fact, every event in the past that has included ZeRo in the title has seen ZeRo fail at getting a win.

This particular event was 2GGT ZeRo Saga, and it saw some of the best Smash players across the globe fight it out for a $10,000 prize. Whilst it was surprising to ZeRo not take the win, it was perhaps even more surprising to see the actual winner.

MKLeo managed to take the grand prize after fighting his way through, Larry Lur, VoiD and plenty of other players. In fact, Leo originally found himself in the loser's bracket earlier in the tournament. It wasn't until MKLeo beat ZeRo in the loser's finals that he saw himself in the grand finals against Larry Lur.

MKLeo took the first set of matches in an impressive fashion with a 3-1 score line. However, with MKLeo coming from the loser's bracket, he had to face up against Lur for another time. The fight was close, but MKLeo managed to just peel away with a 3-2 score.

This win makes it MKLeo's first ever on an international stage and it's also the first time MKLeo has defeated ZeRo. For those maybe unaware of this new and upcoming player, MKLeo is just 15 years old, and after this latest event it's clear he has plenty of potential.
