  • Big Patch Live for Battlefield 1

big patch battlefield 1A brand new update has gone live for Battlefield 1 and it contains a huge number of changes and tweaks to the game.

To begin with, the new patch adds a brand new map to Battlefield 1. The new map is called Lupkow Pass - it's available to anybody that has either the season pass or the Name of the Tsar DLC.

The new Lupkow Pass map is set in Russia, deep in the Carpathian mountains. A lot of the new map is focused on verticality and fights between different levels of the mountains.

While the new map is limited to those that have the DLC, there are a number of features and changes in the new update that is available to everybody.

One of the biggest changes includes a bug fix that stops the weapon loadout UI from disappearing. The horse turn speed has been increased by 25% too, which will make those that use the horse more mobile.

DICE has also made it so jumping over obstacles with horses has been improved. The jumping mechanic is now far more reliable, so players should be able to feel confident before taking their next jump. Sounds for single-fire and semi-automatic weapons have been improved - they should no longer cut off randomly.

There are a huge number of tweaks, bug fixes and small changes that have been applied to the new patch too. The full notes can be seen on the Battlefield website.

  • Battlefield 1 To Get 5v5 Incursions Mode

battlefield 1 incursions modeBattlefield 1 is getting a brand new game mode that'll limit team size and put emphasis on team play within a much smaller squad.

The new game mode is called Incursions and it will feature a 10-player limit, with 5 players per team. While the player limit has been limited severely in the Incursions mode, it will still feature maps and vehicles that are used in other game modes.

To begin with, Incursions will go into a closed alpha state. During this time, players can register their interest to try the game mode and help to build the experience for the community. Afterwards, the game will be pushed out to live servers on all platforms that support Battlefield 1.

To begin with, the game mode will be limited to the PC during alpha phase. During this time, gameplay mechanics could be adjusted drastically. For now, though, DICE's vision for Incursions is to create a strategy-focused game mode with a highly competitive skill curve.

"Your choice in kit plays a critical role in the success of your squad, while every destroyed piece of environment can shift the entire momentum of the battle. Only the sharpest strategic teams will rise to the top of the competition. Every move and every bullet become the difference between victory and defeat. Scoring has been overhauled to create opportunities for dramatic comebacks and nail-biting upsets."

DICE announced the new game mode at Gamescom and also published a video showcasing the game mode. The new trailer is available to view on their Youtube channel.

  • New Battlefield 1 Specialization System Coming

battlefield 1 specialization systemThe Specialization system in Battlefield 1 is soon to get a complete rework and it'll completely change the balancing of the game, hopefully for the better.

Specializations have been in Battlefield since the very beginning, but surprisingly they never made it into Battlefield 1. Well, with an upcoming update, they'll finally make their way into Battlefield 1.

Players will be able to pick up to three perks at once, from a collection of 15 different perks.

The new perk and specialization system will first make its way to the PC public test environment for the community and developer testing. It may then take some time for any issues to be ironed out before it's pushed to all live servers on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

To begin with, Battlefield 1 will give players the three same specializations to play with. This may change in the future, but for now, players will have decreased damage from explosives, reduced suppression, and quicker heal regeneration. Players will then need to play more and complete Service Assignments to unlock the rest of the 15 specializations.

If you are on the PC and would like to take part in the community test so that you can try out the specializations early, you'll need to go to the Battlefield 1 website and sign up. It should be noted that once you've signed up, you'll only be able to play on specific community tests servers when playing the community test version. You won't have access to these specializations on the standard servers.

  • New Battlefield 1 Map and Content Coming Soon

battlefield 1 new map name of tsarA brand new Battlefield 1 map has been announced and more information has been shared about the upcoming DLC content drop that will be hitting in late summer.

The brand new map for Battlefield 1 is named Prise de Tahure, and it will take place in the autumn after the Nivelle Offensive. This was a French and British lead offensive that took place in 1917. The official map description is as follows:

"Prise de Tahure sees French troops desperately holding on to re-captured heights in the Butte-de-Tahure region. The frontline trench networks cut right through several villages facing obliteration from the constant skirmishing between German stormtroopers and French raiders. This is a war of attrition. Adaptability and tactics are the means to wear your adversary down."

The new map will shortly be added to the community test environment - during test play, DICE will make any adjustments they see necessary. After that, the update will be prepared to launch alongside the upcoming The Name Of The Tsar DLC content drop.

It's been revealed that the Name Of The Tsar DLC pack will include the Russian army as a new playable faction. An event will take place on June 10 in which more content for the upcoming DLC pack will be revealed. A full release for the DLC is set for 'this summer.'

Are you looking forward to the upcoming content for Battlefield 1? What excites you more, the new Prise de Tahure map or the upcoming playable Russian faction?

  • New Battlefield 1 Guns in DLC Test Servers

battlefield 1 they shall not passBattlefield 1 is soon going to be receiving an arsenal of new weapons as part of the next upcoming DLC for the game. A lot of the new weapons have already made their way onto the public test servers so we've already got plenty of information to share on the new guns.

All of the new guns will be a part of the 'They Shall Not Pass' DLC pack. In total, there will be 11 new weapons included in the new DLC - some are completely new, while others are modifications or variations of existing guns. There also seems to be a total of three new melee weapons coming to Battlefield 1.

The three melee weapons are a Nail Knife, a Trench Fleur and a Cogwheel Club. Like the other weapons in the base game of Battlefield 1, none of the new guns or melee weapons will be available straight out of the gate. Players will need to unlock the weapons, either via specific challenges or in some cases purchasing them with skill points.

The new weapons will be released to the public in March - it's not been 100% confirmed yet but it's likely that the weapons will be exclusive to those who own the season pass and those who purchase the They Shall Not Pass DLC.

On top of including new weapons, They Shall Not Pass will include a number of new maps, the playable French faction, new game modes and two new tanks.

  • Battlefield 1 Winter Update Released, Details Inside

battlefield 1 winter updateDICE has just pushed out the winter update for Battlefield 1. The update should be available now for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

While the update has already landed, most players still don't know about the highlights of the patch and what to expect from it. In this article, we've covered all bases, so take a read below to check out what's new.

Unsurprisingly one of the biggest focuses for the winter update was to fix bugs. DICE has done a wonderful job to keep Battlefield 1 running smoothly across all platforms and the latest winter update has eliminated plenty of little bugs and errors that have been pointed out by the community in the past.

The next biggest focus for the Battlefield 1 winter update is player progression. From now on, the maximum class rank will be 50, as opposed to 10. This applies to all of the four main classes, the pilot, tanker and all of the elite kits.

To go alongside the new class levels, there are brand new dog tags and customization options. Every ten rank after class rank 10 will introduce new items for players. Server owners will also have more control in the latest update. Server owners can now kick and permanently ban players from their server and a setup for map voting on custom servers is now available.

The Battlefield 1 winter patch was originally only going to be a small update for bug fixing so these new adjustments are welcome changes. The next big Battlefield 1 update is still in the works as well and should bring a larger range of tweaks and balancing changes.

  • Battlefield 1 They Shall Not Pass DLC Details Here

battlefield 1 they shall not passAll of the juicy details for the first Battlefield 1 DLC expansion to actually cost any money have now been revealed.

The first DLC for Battlefield 1 is called They Shall Not Pass, and it will include new maps, new weapons, new items, a new game mode and some other extra features.

Firstly, let us share what we know about the maps. The new They Shall Not Pass DLC will have a total of four new multiplayer maps. The four maps are named, Fort Vaux, Rupture, Soissons and Verdun Heights.

With these four maps combined, players will have a nice mixture of claustrophobic underground tunnels, iconic trench and bunker warfare, open farmland and torched rubble.

Frontlines is the included game mode in They Shall Not Pass. Frontlines has a mix of gameplay from Conquest and Rush. "Both teams fight for one flag at a time and when this objective is captured the action moves on to the next. Capture the enemy's HQ control point and the game turns into a Rush-style section where telegraph posts need to be attacked or defended."

The new DLC will also introduce the gigantic Char 2C tank, alongside the St. Chamond tank, a new Trench Raider elite task and the siege Howitzer field gun. The Trench Raider is a melee-heavy class that's going to play a key role in the trenches. With access to a raider club and a variety of grenades, it'll certainly bring a big impact to any well-defended trench.

  • Battlefield 1 Fall Update Coming, Servers Going Offline

    battlefield-1-fall-update

The first big Battlefield 1 update will be coming soon and as a result, all live servers will be temporarily taken offline whilst the patch is applied.

EA has nicknamed the upcoming patch as the fall update and it will come with a number of useful changes. EA and DICE have both remained quite open about the future features they plan to release to Battlefield 1, but so far we're not sure which of the planned features will make it into the fall update. We may see the introduction of hardcore and fog of war modes, and we may also see a number of overall optimizations and gameplay improvements.

Whilst the servers will be going down for a short time, DICE has mentioned that the servers shouldn't be down for long - they've even opted to pick less busy hours to keep the outage complaints at a minimum. The outage, if all goes to plan, should last for just an hour. The outage times may differ depending on which platform you're using, but as a general guide, take a look at the listed times below to get an idea for when to keep yourself focused on another game instead.

PC: Multiplayer will be offline for 1h starting 08.00 UTC / 12.00 AM PT.

  • Free Battlefield 1 Map Hitting in December

    battlefield-1-giants-shadow

Whilst there is already a lot of future DLC content up for grabs for Battlefield 1 players, DICE are planning to release a free playable map in December. The new map will not cost players a single penny, and even those that have not purchased the season pass will get access to the map the day it is released.

The new map coming to Battlefield 1 in December is called Giant's Shadow and it will be themed after the Battle of Selle, which took place along the Selle River in France. This particular battle happened in 1918 for 7 days from October 17th to October 25th. The Battle of Selle was the very beginning of the end of World War 1.

On top of announcing the new Battlefield 1 map, DICE released an infographic sharing details about the recent Battlefield 1 betas that happened before the game was released. The infographic shared details about total participating players and player class selection. Out of the 13.2 million players that took part in the beta, 30% of players took the assault class, 28% took the scout class, 21% took the support class and a surprising 10% took the medic class.

During the beta, a total of 28.9 melee kills were made and 62.2 million kills were made from the back of a horse. This compared to just 23.8 million vehicular splatter kills.

Now that the game has released, we're definitely going to see more interesting stats and infographics from DICE based on the full version of Battlefield 1.

  • Battlefield 1 Single Player Details Revealed

    battlefield-1-singleplayer

New details about the single player portion of Battlefield 1 have been released by DICE.

In the new trailer and promo content on the Battlefield website, it has been revealed that the singleplayer in Battlefield 1 will have a number of separate 'War Stories.'

Each of the War Stories will have their own story, their own objectives and their own objectives with unique abilities. Each story will offer a different depiction of World War 1 and will put focus on a number of different characters.

This means that instead of one single campaign and one protagonist, the Battlefield 1 main storyline will have multiple stories and characters. It's likely that each individual mission will be a 'War Story' and players will get the chance to experience all sorts of different gameplay that Battlefield 1 has to offer.

For example, in one War Story, players will be playing as the right-hand man of Lawrence of Arabia. The objective will be to locate an armored train, find the supplies needed to take it down and engage in a big firefight at the end of the mission to take the train off the tracks.

There are plenty more War Stories with different scenarios and characters. On one mission you'll be out in the sky fighting it out against German fighter planes, whilst in another, you will be on the ground in harsh, unforgiving trench warfare.

Battlefield 1 launches on October 21 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and the Origin Store on Windows PC.
