The new Gears of War team has seen a number of different players come together for the first time, but it’s certain that all of the players on the new NRG squad have the potential to do well.

"Long-time teammates Sleepytime and Sicamore, who placed 4th together in both seasons of the ESL Pro-League, are joined by their season 1 teammate Twist3DShot, season 2 teammate Xcells, and; Franko, who placed 4th in the recent Gears eSports North American Open with GOONZ, to create a roster that could prove to have the experience, synergy, and balance of skill-sets to excel in Gears 4. • Gears of War Ultimate Edition Getting 5GB Patch

gears of war ultimate edition 5gb patch

Gears of War Ultimate Edition will soon be getting a rather hefty 5GB patch that will be mandatory for all players. As you can imagine with a patch of this size, a lot of things will be changing and there will be a number of new improvements.

The first thing mentioned for the new patch are the number of playlist changes being made. For example, the Execution game mode will soon offer more XP for players. The Coalition made a few statements about the patch changes, including the increase in XP for Execution. "Execution is a mode that can be highly rewarding, but also extremely punishing. To better reward players who take on the challenge of Execution, we've increased the XP gain in the mode significantly."

The Boomshot will also be improved in the new patch - hit detection problems that occurred in the past should now be fixed. Some basic improvements to hit detection on downed enemies has also been improved and hit detection for players taking cover in Clocktower has also been improved.

Check out the additional tweaks and fixes mentioned by The Coalition below.

+ Addressed some matchmaking issues that caused long wait times
+ Small improvements to the Left Trigger Issue
+ Removed POI on Right Stick for Alternate Control Scheme
+ Bug fixes and general improvements
+ Blitz mode moved from competitive to social
+ Competitive Team Deathmatch has been added
+ Warzone is now a permanent playlist
+ Assassination has returned for a limited time

  • Rocket League for Xbox One Getting Exclusive Content

    rocket league xbox one

Soon Rocket League will finally be coming to the Xbox One. After being available for PlayStation 4 and the PC since it's release, Xbox One players have not had the chance to play Rocket League. However, Rocket League will be launching on Xbox One in February and it won't just be the exact same content as the other versions.

When the Xbox One version of Rocket League lands in February, exclusive content will be added. The exclusive content will only be cosmetic, but it can be considered a bit of an extra bonus for loyal Xbox One players. The cosmetic items have all been based on the Xbox One exclusive, Sunset Overdrive.

In Rocket League, players can customize their vehicles with a variety of attachments. They can also change their rocket fuel color and make a number of other adjustments. A lot of the cosmetic items already available in the PS4 and PC versions of Rocket League are based around popular video games or concepts so having Sunset Overdrive content will be a welcome addition. Perhaps the coolest Sunset Overdrive cosmetic item for Rocket League will be the Overcharge Rocket Booster. On top of the awesome appearance, when the booster is activated, you can hear the firing mechanism from the Ahab gun in Sunset.

The Sunset Overdrive cosmetic items will be joined alongside two new exclusive Xbox One vehicles based upon Gears of War and Halo. The vehicles are called the Armadillo and the Hogsticker.

  • Download Codes for Gears of War Backwards Compatible Titles coming Soon

    gears of war backwards compatible

When Gears of War: Ultimate Edition was announced, the developers revealed that pre-ordering the game would make players eligible for all four of the previous Gears of War games on Xbox 360 - these titles would be provided to players via digital download codes and they would be sent out once the backwards compatibility patch goes live on the Xbox One.

Well good news is that the plans for the backwards compatible Gears of War games are still going ahead and now that the backwards compatible patch has been released, Coalition games has mentioned exactly when the four Xbox 360 Gears of War titles will be available for the Ultimate Edition pre-orderers.

According to Microsoft, all four backwards compatible Gears of War games will be available for download from December 1 - if you already own either of the Gears of War titles on Xbox 360, you will also be able to insert the discs into your Xbox One after the November 12 backwards compatibility patch.

So what games do actually come with the Ultimate Edition pre-order? You will get Gears of War Judgment, Gears of War 3, Gears of War 2, and surprisingly Gears of War 1, despite Ultimate Edition being a remake of the first game.

If you are eligible for the Gears of War backwards compatible games, will you play through the three other titles once they are available on December 1? All four Gears of War games are absolute classics and hopefully the backwards compatibility patch for the Xbox One should help revitalize the online server population for all of the games.

  • New Game by Epic Revealed

    epic games paragon

After giving up Gears of War to Coalition Games, Epic Games has finally announced their new title, which will also be a shooter game. The new title by Epic Games has been titled Paragon and it will feature, well, we don't know, besides from guns.

Paragon is definitely going to be a shooter of some sorts but so far we know very little about the title. We aren't sure whether Paragon will be a third person shooter, a first person or a mixture of the two. Carrying on from this, we're unsure whether Epic Games will adopt the same cover based system used in Gears of War or whether they'll scrap that entirely in Paragon.

If you visit the Paragon website you can gather a couple of pieces of information - it seems like more information will be revealed over the following weeks as well. Paragon seems to have a number of different "characters," which will mostly all be playable. On top of this, there will be a number of unlockable items in Paragon, according to the official website for the game.

It's likely we will hear a lot more about Paragon in the next few weeks - the game has a PC release date for "early 2016." So far no news on whether Paragon will be coming to console but let's hope it does. In other news, Epic Games has also been working on a new Unreal Tournament game as well as Fortnite - a game that has been described as a mixture of Minecraft and tower defense.

  • New God of War 3 Remastered Trailer Revealed

god of war 3 remasteredA brand new trailer for the upcoming God of War 3 Remastered for the PlayStation 4 has been released and it depicts Kratos in all his HD glory. There's no doubt that God of War 3 Remastered looks like the most visually impressive game we've seen in from the IP so far. Players will be excited to hear that Sony are aiming for 1080P resolution and 60fps for God of War 3 Remastered, but the way Sony worded sounds as if a 60fps constant frame rate may not be guaranteed.

Considering that the entire game will be getting a visual overhaul in God of War 3 Remastered, it'd be understandable to see why 60fps may not be achievable all of the time. Despite this, Sony are putting a lot of effort into the performance side of the PlayStation 4 port.

If you plan to pre-order God of War 3 Remastered ahead of the launch of the game, Sony will offer up a few free bonuses. Unfortunately none of the bonuses will consist of in-game content because the remastered version has mostly untouched the content from the original God of War 3.

Instead, players will be given a free dynamic theme for their PlayStation 4. The theme given out will be God of War - Fall of Olympus. If players pre-order through the PlayStation Network, the theme will be given out to those players this week instead of when the game releases.

Players can also get a free 90 day rental for both God of War and God of War from the PlayStation Network for pre-ordering God of War 3 Remastered.

  • Gears of War HD Remaster Could be Coming Soon

gears of war hd remasterAlthough we may not be getting the Marcus Fenix Collection like we originally thought, a standard HD remaster of the first Gears of War game may actually be coming to Xbox One soon.

A report was released late last week by Polygon that suggested Microsoft are working on a HD remaster of the original Gears of War game. Whilst the reports come from sources that aren't completely trustworthy, it would make sense that an HD remaster of GoW was in the works.

So many rumors have been circulating about a Gears of War remaster and sometimes even officials that have worked on Gears of War have chipped in. It’s a shame that it may only be the first Gears of War title, but it would still be good to see Gears of War breathe new light on the Xbox One.

According to the same sources, the Gears of War HD Remaster will include better lighting and improved texture quality, so it won't just be a port with enhanced resolution. However, it's possible the remaster will be displayed at 1080P, and the source suggests that the game will run at 60fps in multiplayer.

The single player campaign may have lower frame rates, but seeing consistently over 30 frames should be very accomplishable.

I haven't been able to play Gears of War for a long time so seeing a new HD remaster would be amazing for me. Let's just hope that the rumors are true and that we’ll be hearing more from more official sources very soon.

  • Gears of War Collection Rumors hit the Internet

gears of war collectionEver since the launch of the Xbox One, there have been constant rumors about the possibility of a Gears of War return, but we have heard any credible information about any new Gears of War content just yet.

Recently, cover based shooter, The Order: 1866 released exclusively to the PlayStation 4, and this just sparked the internet with even more Gears of War rumors. It's very likely that something Gears of War related is going to come to the Xbox One, but so far we have no idea what it could be.

Recently, two images have hit the internet that suggest that we may even see a Gears of War collection for the Xbox One. Expected to include Gears of War 1, 2 and 3, (and maybe Judgement if anybody is really that interested.) the collection has been suggested to release next year by renowned Xbox leakster Shinobi602.

It doesn't stop there though - a message sent to Phil Spencer makes it seem as if the Collection could definitely be happening. The message asked if we were ever going to see a Gears of War collection, to which Phil Spencer responded "Haha, I can't announce that. But stay tuned." Hopefully we'll hear something about what Phil Spencer means by this comment soon.

Would you be happy to see a Gears of War collection for the Xbox One that contained all of the previous games in the franchise, or would you rather see a completely new game in the franchise?

  • Cliffy B Goes Back Into Video Game Development

Cliffy B New GameA little while back Cliff Bleszinski announced plans to retire from video game development for good, but it seems he just couldn't keep away from the video game industry as he's already back at it with plans to make more video games again.

Despite his supposed video game retirement, it's been clear for a while that Cliffy B has been working on some kind of video game project, and it looks like he plans to reveal it to the world pretty soon.

On Bleszinski's twitter, he wrote, "I'm officially coming out of retirement to make video games again. Stay tuned here for details in the next 7 days!"

Whilst his previous work has been alongside AAA studios responsible for franchises like Gears of War and Unreal Tournament, it sounds likely that Cliffy B's next project will be something completely different.

Cliff Bleszinski has already revealed a few different concept art images for a game that he has codenamed Silverstreak, so perhaps we'll hear more about this title within the next 7 days like Cliff suggested on his Twitter account.

In or out of retirement, it's clear Cliffy B will not have any input on the next Gears of War title, which is largely where he made a name for himself. Do you think Bleszinski's next game make much of a splash? We'll have to see exactly what Cliffy B has up his sleeve before we give an answer on that one.

  • New Gears of War Game with "Bleeding Edge Rendering Techniques" Coming

gears of war xbox oneBlack Tusk Studios, a new studio wholly backed by Microsoft have just put up a bunch of new job listings for a brand new Gears of War game, and from what we can gather from these job listings, Microsoft want to make sure the next Gears of War game is superbly epic.

One job listing for a senior rendering engineer states that the role could help develop "bleeding edge new rendering techniques to deliver best in class visuals for a AAA console game," and another suggest that the role in question needs to help shape an "industry leading multiplayer experience."

There has been a lot of talk recently about a possible new Gears of War title, and now that Microsoft have the rights to the franchise, it seems clear that they want it to be a title that Sony fans drool over.

Titanfall is a great title that could lead to a very successful series of games, but it's likely to jump to multi-platform support by the time the second game has been developed. Halo has also been an iconic series for Microsoft, but many gamers feel that the title is losing it's charm, so a new Gears' game could be what Xbox really needs.

So far it sounds very early in development though, so it could be a while before we actually see any true footage for the game, and then even longer still for an actual release date. Hopefully we'll hear more about it at this year's E3.
