  • Ying Operator Announced For Rainbow Six Siege

Ying Operator Announced For Rainbow Six SiegeAfter a long season of not releasing any new content, Ubisoft is finally gearing up to release some new operators for Rainbow Six: Siege.

The first of the new operators have confirmed to be a Chinese operator named Ying. Ying is a female character that is a part of the new S.D.U (Special Defense Unit) operator faction.

In a blog post, information about Ying was shared.

"The S.D.U. is known for leading high-risk operations amidst Hong Kong's dense urban population. For this purpose, we opted for a character with an awareness of their surroundings and a concern for civilian lives. This is why we envisioned her as being heavily trained in close protection, which also influenced her playstyle."

Ying has a number of close-ranged weapons available to use. This includes the SIX12 and T-95 LSW for primary weapons, and the Q-929 for a secondary weapon.

Ying is an attack operator and her special ability is called 'Candela.' With this, Ying can roll a grenade into a room that'll explode and fill the room with a cluster of flashbangs. Ying can also attach the Candela grenade to different surfaces.

There has been some criticism surrounding Ying's ability, with players suggesting that her ability is essentially a downgraded version of Fuze's ability. Fuze can also set off a cluster of grenades, but Fuze's grenades will outright kill opponents. Ying has the potential to be useful on hostage maps - this is where Fuze's grenades have the chance to kill the hostage and end the round.

  • Final Call of Duty Infinite Warfare DLC Lands

call of duty infinite warfare continuum dlcWhile it may not be long before the next Call of Duty game launches, a brand new DLC pack for Infinite Warfare has just released. The new DLC pack includes a number of new multiplayer maps and some other new gameplay content.

The new DLC for Infinite Warfare is called Continuum and it adds four new multiplayer maps and a brand new game mode called Shuffle Zombies. The new DLC expansion is currently only available for the PlayStation 4, but it will push out to Xbox One and PC in around a month's time.

For those interested in the DLC, you'll need to pick it up in the PSN Store for $15.

The four new maps for the new Continuum Infinite Warfare DLC are Turista, Scrap, Archive, and Excess. The official map descriptions have been provided below:

Turista is nestled in the middle of a giant skeleton of an ancient creature. With sniper spots scattered across a majestic, central waterfall, Turista also boasts tight interiors for fans of close-quartered combat and a three-lane design that caters to a variety of play styles.

Scrap is set in an abandoned junkyard on the Moon. Scrap features a combination of extended sightlines and tactical pathways that reward players who engage in both long and short range combat.

Archive features fast, frenetic engagements. It's a post-futurist art gallery where tight engagements contrast with open exterior battlegrounds in this wide three-lane style map.

Perched atop a gilded penthouse in a sprawling future metropolis, Excess is a small, circular map re-imagined from the classic Modern Warfare 2 map, Rust, that retains the intense, fast-paced combat from the original.

  • New Ghost Recon: Wildlands Patch Hits

ghost recon wildlands patch 3.0A brand new patch for Ghost: Recon Wildlands has arrived for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. The patch, which is codenamed 3.0, comes in at a hefty 5.3GB.

In the new update, new season challenges have been added to Ghost Recon: Wildlands. These new challenges can offer players rewards for completing. Each season will be themed, with the first starting in this new patch. The first season is named "The Rise and Fool of Unidad" and will encourage players to take down Unidad operators.

Season challenges will be reset every Wednesday, so players will be able to come back each week to earn more rewards each season. Players can earn up to three rewards each week as well.

A bunch of other changes and tweaks have been added in Ghost: Recon Wildlands, including improvements to "narrative content delivery," which essentially means AI ghost dialogue has been improved. The radio playlist in cars has been randomized too, so you shouldn't find yourself listening to the same songs each time you jump into a vehicle.

The 3.0 patch also launches alongside the first content expansion, which has been named Narco Road. This expansion features a number of new missions; 15 main missions and 5 side missions, new vehicles, new racing challenges, new weapons, and new outfits.

The Narco Road expansion is currently only available to season pass holders, however, it will soon be available to purchase for those that do not currently own the season pass

  • Dark Souls 3 Gets New Patch

dark souls 3 patch pvpA brand new patch has hit Dark Souls 3 that adds a number of new PVP features and increases the frame rate for PS4 Pro owners.

The frame rate increase for PS4 Pro owners will be automatically activated, so players will not need to do anything to make use of their PS4 Pro console. As for the time being, there aren't any additional graphics settings for PS4 Pro owners.

The new 1.11 patch adds PvP arenas for the game's Undead Match modes. The new PvP arenas are called Dragon Ruins and Grand Roof. The new patch has also made it possible for friends to stick together on the same team. Previously, players could join games with their friends in, but players were assigned to teams randomly.

It should be noted that the new Dragon Ruins and Grand Roof PvP maps are exclusive for those who own the Ashes of Ariandel DLC pack or The Ringed City DLC pack, the latter of which will officially launch on March 28.

The new Dark Souls 3 patch has also made a number of smaller gameplay tweaks and overall bug fixes. Many balancing tweaks have also been implemented in the latest 1.11 patch, and some preparations for the upcoming The Ringed City DLC have been made.

The new patch went live on March 24 for PS4 and Steam players. Have you managed to try out the two new PvP maps yet? If you have, let us know your thoughts on them.

  • Glaz to Get Upgrade in Rainbow Six Siege

glaz buff rainbow six siegeGlaz has slowly been phased out of competitive play, and Ubisoft have taken notice. As a result, it looks like Glaz will be getting a much needed buff.

A new video posted to the Rainbow Six Siege Twitter profile showcases a thermal imaging scope for Glaz - when Glaz zooms in with his sniper, the thermal heat signature of enemy players can be seen through walls.

Ubisoft didn't mention whether this would be a feature for all operators, or whether it would be exclusive to Glaz, but it would make sense that the feature was locked down to Glaz's sniper rifle.

So far, we don't know when this new feature will be brought to Rainbow Six Siege. There is a big update planned for later this month, so we may see the new thermal scope added to the game then.

Hopefully, the feature isn't too overpowered at the beginning. We expect the play rate for Glaz will spike massively after the patch for his thermal scope hits live servers, though.

Recently, Rainbow Six Siege rolled into a new season and Ubisoft unveiled a collection of new operators, new maps, and new weapons as part of the Velvet Shell expansion. All of the maps and operators can be played for free, but season 2 pass holders were given the operators early and for free. Those without a season 2 pass must purchase the operators with currency earned in game, or with currency purchased with real money.

  • Mass Effect Andromeda to have Microtransactions

mass effect andromeda microtransactionsYou can blame EA for this one. Mass Effect Andromeda will be receiving microtransactions.

The microtransactions in Mass Effect Andromeda will be included alongside the base price of the game and the season pass for the future DLC content. The microtransactions available will allow users to purchase 'Andromeda points' which is currently understood to be a currency that will be used in the multiplayer portion of Mass Effect Andromeda.

The description online retailers have been using for the Andromeda points packs is shown below.

"Andromeda Points are an in-game currency for the Mass Effect: Andromeda Multiplayer mode only. These points can be purchased with real world currency and can be used instead of the earned in-game currency to obtain new Multiplayer packs, which contain items used in the Multiplayer mode."

Unfortunately, we do not know what the multiplayer packs will include, or whether these packs will provide users with benefits or buffs. Hopefully, EA has opted to only include cosmetic items and utilities like XP boosts inside the multiplayer packs. It may be that Mass Effect Andromeda will feature a microtransaction system similar to Halo 5: Guardians.

In Halo 5, players can earn in-game currency by playing the multiplayer game modes and then spend that money on packs that include cosmetic items and special equipment for the Warzone game mode. Players can earn everything by playing, but they can also spend real money to earn additional packs. If Mass Effect Andromeda offers a similar approach, microtransactions in Andromeda may not be such a bad thing.

  • New Battlefield 1 Guns in DLC Test Servers

battlefield 1 they shall not passBattlefield 1 is soon going to be receiving an arsenal of new weapons as part of the next upcoming DLC for the game. A lot of the new weapons have already made their way onto the public test servers so we've already got plenty of information to share on the new guns.

All of the new guns will be a part of the 'They Shall Not Pass' DLC pack. In total, there will be 11 new weapons included in the new DLC - some are completely new, while others are modifications or variations of existing guns. There also seems to be a total of three new melee weapons coming to Battlefield 1.

The three melee weapons are a Nail Knife, a Trench Fleur and a Cogwheel Club. Like the other weapons in the base game of Battlefield 1, none of the new guns or melee weapons will be available straight out of the gate. Players will need to unlock the weapons, either via specific challenges or in some cases purchasing them with skill points.

The new weapons will be released to the public in March - it's not been 100% confirmed yet but it's likely that the weapons will be exclusive to those who own the season pass and those who purchase the They Shall Not Pass DLC.

On top of including new weapons, They Shall Not Pass will include a number of new maps, the playable French faction, new game modes and two new tanks.

  • Resident Evil 7 DLC Out Today

resident evil 7 banned footageA brand new Resident Evil 7 DLC pack is now available on the PlayStation 4.

After the launch on January 24, Resident Evil 7 has already received its second DLC expansion. This new expansion has been named Banned Footage Vol. 2 and it follows the first Banned Footage volume. The new DLC includes 2 missions and a new 'comical' game mode.

The first new mission in the new Resident Evil 7 DLC is called 21 Scenario, which Capcom has provided a small description for. "Gamble life and limb in a deadly game run by Lucas Baker."

The second mission in the new DLC is called Daughters Scenario and this serves as a prequel to the storyline in the missions in the base game.

The new game mode that's been bundled with the DLC expansion is named Jack's 55th Birthday, in which players are tasked with feeding Jack Baker, the main villain in Resident Evil 7, with large amounts of food. It sounds odd, but it's surprisingly enjoyable and equally as hilarious.

Currently, the Resident Evil 7 Banned Footage Vol. 2 DLC is only available on the PlayStation 4. It will remain exclusive to the PS4 until February 21, at which point the DLC will be released on Xbox One and PC. The original Banned Footage Vol.1 DLC is still only available on PS4, but volume 1 will be released alongside the new DLC on February 21 as well.

  • Rainbow Six Siege Season Pass 2 Available

rainbow-six-siege-season-pass-2Rainbow Six Siege is hitting a new season, a new year, and a new season pass.

The new season pass will cost $30 and will give players upfront free access to some of the content that Ubisoft has planned for the next year. It looks as if Ubisoft are planning to make Rainbow Six Siege a long term investment - instead of developing a new Rainbow Six title, they'll put their efforts into releasing more content for Siege, and that involves lining up features to fill up the season pass offering.

The 2nd season pass will include 8 new operators which will be once again split up into groups of 2 across 4 different seasons during 2017. 8 Exclusive headgear customization options, as well as 8 new outfits, an R6 Carbon charm, and 600 R6 credits for in-game purchases will be included in the season pass as soon as a player purchases it.

Purchasing the season pass will also give players access to a range of VIP perks - these will remain active until February 2018, at which point we expect Ubisoft to release a third season pass, so long as their second year running goes smoothly.

The VIP perks include a 1-week early access to the new operators, a 10% discount on any items in the shop, a permanent 5% renown boost and 2 extra daily challenges until February 2018.

The new pass will replace the year 1 pass - going forward, the only way to purchase the year 1 operators will be via either of the available Rainbow Six Siege currencies.

  • All Destiny Players Given Free Legendary Item

destiny legendary itemSome players are excited, some are frustrated, but the truth is, Bungie have tried to give something back to the community as a 'thank you' for the continued support the large majority of Destiny players have given to the game since it's launch.

This 'thank you' is in the form of a legendary weapon - every player can now hop into game, no matter what version of the game you are playing, and go speak to the postmaster to pick up a free legendary.

Whilst legendaries have proven to be pretty hard to get in the game, this is the first time Bungie have given players such easy access to a legendary weapon, and it's just any old legendary weapon either.

The item from the postmaster will reward players with a ticket that will be randomly converted into any legendary item in the game. Legendaries aren't as rare as exotic, but it still takes a lot of farming, or a lot of luck to land upon your first legendary item, so some players are frustrated that Bungie have handed out something of such rarity for free.

However, it looks as if there may be a certain limit to what weapons are rewarded from the ticket, so don't fret too much, chances are your current legendary gear will remain as rare as it always has been.

Do you think it was a good move for Bungie to give out a free legendary weapon to every player, or do you think players should have been rewarded with something a little less special instead?
