Mario, Donkey Kong, Link, New Nintendo Toys
Global Holdings, a company that works with Nintendo to get their items on the shelves of our local Wal-Mart, GameStop, ect., have produced a line of Nintendo toys that were released at the 2011 Toy Fair!!! They offer many different shades of Yoshi, a Mario figure who holds your DS, a Dark Link, with red glazed eyes, and of course they didnt forget about Daisy Donkey Kong and Kirby! Also many characters from the Mario and Zelda games are featured. Personally I would love to add the Dark Link to my collection of figurines, what would you add to yours?

Gears of War set to be released in September
Great news! As of Wednesday (February 23rd), Gears of War 3 officially has a release date. This is great to know, especially since we were all expecting it this spring and it unfortunately got delayed.Microsoft now announced that Epics third installment to the Gears of War series will be dropping as an Xbox 360 exclusive on September 20th in both the US and Japan. The final chapter of the trilogy, the game is expected to bring the series to a great closure with exhilarating single and multiplayer features. The game will supposedly take place eighteen months after the events of Gears of War 2, featuring the survivors stranded on an island, living in a converted aircraft carrier.

Vietnam places a gaming curfew!
While China was facing issue with the deaths of those who were addicted to online gaming Vietnam has came up with a plan to help cut down the amount of time spent playing online games and eliminate side effects.
The Ministry of Information and Communication has asked internet service providers to block access to on-line games from 10:00pm to 8:00am. "Provincial departments of information and communication will inspect on-line games activities nationwide and deal with organizations that violate regulations by canceling their services," said the ministry's Deputy Minister Le Nam Thang (

Civilization Music Composer awarded
Music's Highest Honor.It's a first in video game history, never in its history has any part of video game's music industry won a Grammy. Christopher Tin who done recent work for Red Dead Redemption, Mass Effect, the Civilization series and various other video games, has beaten out other Grammy Nominees in the Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalists category. Christopher won the award for his piece "Baba Yetu" which he wrote for Civilization IV back in 2005. Sure it was composed six years ago and is now later nominated and won for the 2011 Grammy's but hey, the video game

Industry/Political News - Politician to Make Games to have Cigarette Box-like warnings
Congressman Joe Baca (D-Califorinia) tried to introduced legislature in 2009 on display a label warning of links between violent video games and aggressive behavior. The proposal was denied. Read more about the 2009 legislature here.

Retro Halo Game
Ever wonder what Halo would be like if it had been done for the original Nintendo? Eric Ruth has answered the question by creating a retro 8-Bit Halo: Combat Evolved called Pixel Force Halo. Angry Birds, a popular mobile game where players solve puzzles by sending flying birds into structures housing the porcine adversaries who stole their eggs. As if the game hadnt already invaded your iphone, ipads, other mobile devises its about to invade either your computers or televisions as an animated series. Mikael Hed the CEO of the Finland-based company that created the mobile game said, "We have been looking at that for quite a while, and that is definitely one of my personal big focus areas right now -- to work on broadcast content for 'Angry Birds.' Capcom Game cures more Rage Quits?
Rage quitting is an actionnewer to consoles then it is to PC, but the term and the actionhave been around for quite awhile. Rage quitting is exactly as it sounds, it's when a player is frustrated and has the suspicion they're going to lose an online game so they choose to disconnect rather then accept defeat or ruin their win ratio. Street Fighter 4 players dealt with this fairly regularly although Capcom worked to fix the problem by revealing the disconnect ratio of players to encourage them not to disconnect until their match was over.
With Marvel vs Capcom 3 Capcom has a different approach. The disconnect ratio of players isn't so public, but hidden more in the back end, more involved with which players
