Industry News - Trading in Games Got Harder
With the age of DLC on every modern console threatening the used game dealers such as Gamestop, Game Crazy, and Play N Trade, the dealers will have to comply with a recent federal law. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals decided that software publishers can stop buyers from reselling their software to others, which differs from rulings in which software can be sold again under a "first sale"Â doctrine.
According to Anthony Reese of the University of California-Irvine, the first sale doctrine is responsible for the bulk of public access via the existence of stores that sell used materials like books, records, and videos. He added in that this ruling can be used in other courts and impact their sight over other business types such as eBay and stores like Gamestop.
To put in an example, around thirty percent of Gamestop's profits are in used games. Add in the domino effect, Gamestop claims that it will impact their

Industry News - You can't train a soldier with video games!
Former US Marine and Iraqi Freedom veteran Benjamin Busch has come out with his opinion on the new Medal of Honor in his essay to National Public Radio (NPR). He discusses the creative changes that Medal of Honor has made in its latest game, such as changing "Taliban"Â to "Opposing Force"Â
"I honestly don't like that Medal of Honor depicts the war in Afghanistan right now, because "€œ even as fiction "€œ it equates the war with leisure of games...change the name of the enemy doesn't change who it is"ÂHe went on to include that Medal of Honor cannot train its players to be actual skilled as special Ops, nor can it convert anyone into Islamic fundamentalism and that the game is to make modern war into a participatory cinema because that is what the creators do as a business.
I took away from his essay that Benjamin is basically saying you cannot really hide from what something is truly about.

There have been talks about making a featured film. They are currently working on the script and working with New Line Cinema. It is going to be interesting to see if they capture the magic from the documentary and put it a scripted film.
There are some concerns about making this movie. The success of this movie was a complete shock to many. The timing and release of the original documentary helped to make it successful. The writers for the new film will need to address that we are in a different era,

Industry News - Obama's connections with technology
Regardless of how you feel about Obama or his politics he hasn't been known to be a huge gaming advocate, but he has been known as someone that understands technology. Upon entering the White House he openly complained about the technological limitations of the White House saying, "It is kind of like going from an Xbox to an Atari."Â
Obama has always had an appreciation and understanding of technology, his campaign was run by people that were technologically savvy and his methods changed the way in which future presidential campaigns will be run. However, during his first years, videogames were something Obama just wasn't familiar with, in his

Industry News - Steve Wiebe wins again!
Steve Wiebe reigns again! Twin Galaxies has officially releases a press release statement regarding the newest Donkey Kong arcade record. As of August 30, Washington state's Steve Wiebe now holds the world record once again with a score of 1,062,800, besting Billy Mitchell's July 31 title.
What a competition. King of Kong star Wiebe has not held the title since he made his mark in the spring of 2007, shown in the documentary "King of Kong"Â. Mitchell pulled ahead shortly within a few months. In March, Hank Chien of New York pulled ahead to one-up Mitchell's previous three year held record. However, Mitchell fiercely regained the title this past July. Now, the down to earth family man Wiebe has set the new world record, officially verified as of today.
This is the third time in this year alone the world record has been shattered, the most changes to the official record made in a single year. Although he puts vast effort into
