A week ago news website PlayStation Lifestyle reported that there was a company named Simulmedia that was looking to implement mobile-style advertisements into console games. In that report, the company claimed that EA signed a deal to work those ads in. This week, EA denied those reports and said that they’re not currently looking at those style ads in games.
The rebuttal came after the story gained traction, with EA saying that they haven’t signed any type of agreement with Simulmedia and that they’re not going to be putting paid ads into games in the way
At this point, Simulmedia has not issued a comment on why they said that they’re working with EA. The company also said that they’re working with Hi-Rez Studios, who’s known for putting out the games Smite and Paladins.
A statement from EA regarding the matter read in part: “Following incorrect reports suggesting that we are looking to introduce ‘TV-style’ commercials into our games, we wanted to clarify that in-game

This week a major wave was made in the video game industry as Sony purchased Insomniac Games, tying up the major second-party developer for any future releases.
Sony and Insomniac have been tied together strongly in the past, as the company designed and released the Ratchet and Clank and Resistance series for the PlayStation brand. The groups did break away a bit earlier this decade, as Insomniac released the zombie blasting game Sunset Overdrive exclusively for the Xbox One. The two didn’t stay separated though, as Insomniac developed Marvel’s Spider-Man for the PS4 in 2018. That game proved to be a huge hit, having sold more than 13.2 million copies as of press time.
Speaking about the agreement Insomniac’s CEO Ted Price wrote: "Today we announced that Insomniac has a new home. It feels more like a homecoming though. We've collaborated with Sony for more than 20 years--spanning all four PlayStation consoles, 20 total games, and six franchises. We still work closely today

With October starting, Sony has announced their free PS Plus games for the month. As Halloween will be taking part later this month, Sony has thrown in Friday the 13th to kick things off, alongside a number of other titles.
As mentioned before, Friday the 13th is easily the highlight of this month's free PS4 games. In Friday the 13th, one player gets to play as Jason Voorhees, while up to six other players must play as teen counselors.
The counselors must attempt to escape their location, while Jason gets to use a variety of tools and abilities to track them down.
The counselor players must communicate and work together to prepare a plan to escape. Playing as the counselors gives you a sense of panic and tension, while playing Voorhees is just as exciting, but for completely different reasons.
After that, we have Laser League. This is a fun multiplayer game that tests your reflexes and critical thinking. Laser League is very easy to pick up, but it takes lots

If you play Fortnite on the PS4, you might want to make sure your PS Plus membership is up to date. Sony and Epic Games have teamed up again to offer more free Fortnite loot for PS Plus members.
The new loot includes a brand new glider, a new pickaxe, and a new trail. Admittedly, the glider is quite simple, but it's a nice thank you to the PlayStation players, regardless.
The glider you get from the new PS Plus subscription freebie can be seen in the image above.
The other two items are far more exciting. The first of which is a new contrail that adds four lights that mimic the four PlayStation colors out of your hands and feet.
The pickaxe is a very interesting item, too. It's made out of rubberized plastic and shares the same colors as the PS4 controller. On the top of the pickaxe there are two joysticks that mimic the DualShock 4 joysticks and there is even a small USB charging port added.
The new pickaxe is certainly quite unique and there’s nothing

If you're not sure if you'll be interested in the upcoming Gran Turismo Sport racing game for the PlayStation 4, you may want to give the free demo a try.
Sony has confirmed that PS4 owners will be able to give Gran Turismo Sport a test run for free from October 9 until October 12. This will essentially follow the same beta pre-release model many triple-A publishers have been following in recent years.
If you're a PS Plus member, you'll get more time than those without PS Plus. Firstly, PS Plus members will be given the option to preload the Gran Turismo Sport demo before its starting date on October 9. They'll also be able to get started on October 9 at 12 AM, while non-Plus members must wait until 6 PM.
The preload period for PS Plus members will start on October 7. Players who earn money or unlock cars in the Gran Turismo demo can also transfer their progress to the full release later in the month on October 17.
All car unlocks can be transferred to the full

If you're hoping to play Playerunknown's Battlegrounds on your PS4, we have some good and bad news for you today.
First things first, it's been confirmed that Battlegrounds developer Bluehole has set up an exclusivity deal with Microsoft. Bluehole is also interested in bringing Battlegrounds to the PS4 after this exclusivity period runs out.
Bluehole is apparently in talks with Sony to make this happen. So far, this is the good news that has come out of a recent report that shares some insider details on the Xbox exclusivity deal.
The bad news is that Bluehole and Microsoft have been in further talks to essentially lengthen the exclusivity deal for PUBG. This would mean that Battlegrounds would stay exclusive to the Xbox One and the PC for longer than previously planned.
According to a report by Bloomberg, anonymous individuals, who have chosen to keep their identity private, were present during talks between Microsoft and Bluehole. There was a discussion in

A brand new system update for the PlayStation 4 has been released. PS4 owners can download and install the new 5.0 system update now.
While moving to 5.0 sounds like quite a big jump, there aren't any significant changes in this latest system update. Unlike previous big OS updates for the PS4, the 5.0 system update puts a focus on backend fixes.
The visual changes are very minor, but we'll discuss what has changed below.
The biggest feature of the PS4 5.0 system update is the support for Twitch streaming up to 1080p resolution for those with a PS4 Pro. If you own a PS4 Pro, you'll be able to stream your game directly to Twitch at 60 frames per second and in 1080p resolution. You are now able to follow users in PS4's What's New feed. Previously, it was only possible to follow verified users from this feed.
A couple of changes have also been made to the notifications system on the PS4 5.0 system update. Starting in 5.0, PS4 owners can now prevent notification pop-ups

One of the first complaints that players had with the first DICE Battlefront game was that the game didn't have any space battles.
This was a feature in the original Battlefront franchise that a lot of fans appreciated. Thankfully, Battlefront 2 will be getting space battles and the gameplay has been showcased in a brand new trailer from EA.
A brand new game mode is coming to Star Wars Battlefront 2 called Starfighter Assault - this is the mode that will incorporate most of the new space gameplay. In Starfighter Assault, one team must work together to destroy a starfighter, while the other team must try to keep it alive.
Players will have the opportunity to fly through space in a number of popular Star Wars spaceships, including TIE Fighters and A-Wings.
Besides the space combat, everything else about the new Starfighter Assault mode will remain the same. This means players will be able to use various pickups spread around the arena.
Players will also
