Ben's Custom PlayBox XBX controller | Adaptive Gaming Controller | Evil Controllers
Ben's Custom Xbox Adaptive Controller Interface was designed specifically to work alongside the Xbox Adaptive Controller (XAC), providing an accessible control solution tailored to his unique gaming needs.
Because not every Xbox input was required, the design focuses on the controls used most frequently. The center of the controller features the ABXY inputs, arranged for easy access and improved accuracy. Each input is represented by a cluster of four buttons rather than a single button, creating a larger activation area that helps users who may have difficulty consistently targeting smaller controls.
For example, the A button is represented by four green buttons grouped together, allowing the same function to be activated from multiple positions within the cluster. This design reduces missed inputs and makes gameplay more comfortable and reliable.
The controller also includes dedicated bumper and trigger inputs located in the upper left and upper right corners of the panel, keeping additional commonly used controls within easy reach.
Measuring 7.8" x 7.8" x 0.25", the controller provides a large operating surface while maintaining an extremely thin profile. Because the enclosure contains only buttons and control circuitry, it remains lightweight and easy to position on a desk, tray, wheelchair mount, or other gaming setup.
To further increase flexibility, the system includes two external thumbstick extensions that connect directly to the Xbox Adaptive Controller. These extensions allow the user to position each thumbstick independently wherever it is most comfortable and accessible for their body, creating a highly personalized control experience.
By combining clustered button inputs, simplified control placement, and repositionable thumbstick modules, this custom adaptive gaming controller helps improve accuracy, comfort, and accessibility while allowing users to enjoy Xbox gaming in a way that works best for them.
