This legacy Xbox 360 accessibility modification was created many years ago for professional adaptive gamer N0M4D, who plays video games using facial movements rather than a traditional hand-held grip.
While face-operated gaming allowed access to the standard face buttons, the Xbox 360 controller's bumpers and triggers remained difficult or impossible to reach. To solve this challenge, Evil Controllers developed a custom solution that relocated these important functions to a more accessible position.
A custom faceplate was designed and manufactured with openings for four soft-touch metallic buttons positioned directly alongside the existing ABXY buttons. This innovative layout placed eight essential inputs within a compact area, allowing the player to comfortably access all of these controls using facial movements.
The additional buttons significantly improved accessibility by eliminating the need to reach the traditional bumper and trigger locations while maintaining fast access to the controls required during gameplay.
Although this was one of Evil Controllers' earliest adaptive gaming designs, it represented an important milestone in developing personalized accessibility solutions. The project demonstrated the value of relocating controller inputs to match the player's abilities rather than relying on a standard controller layout.
