Thanks to an announcement at Gamescom, we now have a release date and pre-order details for the upcoming racer, The Crew 2.
Firstly, it has now been confirmed that the release date for The Crew 2 has been locked in for March 16, 2018. On this release date, the game will be released for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
While the full release is still quite a way away, The Crew 2 developers are running a beta that should start this year. The beta sign-ups are available on the website for The Crew 2.
Like its predecessor, The Crew 2 is a racing game that features an open world environment that players can race in. The Crew 2 is set in an open world version of USA. For the first time in this franchise, players will also be able to race in planes and boats in The Crew 2.

Battlefield 1 is getting a brand new game mode that'll limit team size and put emphasis on team play within a much smaller squad.
The new game mode is called Incursions and it will feature a 10-player limit, with 5 players per team. While the player limit has been limited severely in the Incursions mode, it will still feature maps and vehicles that are used in other game modes.
To begin with, Incursions will go into a closed alpha state. During this time, players can register their interest to try the game mode and help to build the experience for the community. Afterwards, the game will be pushed out to live servers on all platforms that support Battlefield 1.
To begin with, the game mode will be limited to the PC during alpha phase. During this time, gameplay mechanics could be adjusted drastically. For now, though, DICE's vision for Incursions is to create a strategy-focused game mode with a highly competitive skill curve.

A brand new Overwatch map has been announced. The new map is called Junkertown and it was first announced at Gamescom.
The new map will be an escort map and the environment has been created to represent Junkrat and Roadhog's home town.
In the lore, Junkertown is set in the heart of Australia. This was one of the countries to get impacted by the Omnic crisis the hardest, and as a result, the entire environment is falling to pieces. Buildings and shelters are put together with whatever scrap material can be found.
Those that live in Junkertown are known as Junkers. Originally, both Junkrat and Roadhog lived within Junkertown as Junkers, too. However, the duo was caught stealing from the queen of Junkertown. As punishment, both Junkrat and Roadhog were exiled from the city.
To go alongside the map announcement, Blizzard released a brand new video on their Youtube channel that showed Junkrat and Roadhog explaining the new Junkertown map.

The brand new 4 vs 1 shooter title from 2K has managed to pick up a variety of different awards from Gamescom this year, including the 'Best of Gamescom Award.' There's no denying that Evolve has managed to impress a pretty large audience, and I hope that the game manages to live up to what we've come to expect from the title so far.
On top of grabbing the Best of Gamescom Award, Evolve has managed to pick up an award for the best console game from Microsoft Xbox, an award for the best action game, the best PC game, and the best online multiplayer game.
Surprisingly, the only other companies to get awards from more than one category were Sony and Nintendo, making Evolve the biggest hit of Gamescom 2014 by far.
Other games like Super Smash Bros, The Evil Within, Splatoon, Risen 3 and Littlebigplanet 3 managed to pick up awards too, however no other game was awarded the winning award in more than one category.

In recent news, it has been revealed that the new upcoming Tomb Raider game, Rise of the Tomb Raider, will be released as an exclusive to Xbox consoles. This information was announced at Gamescom, along with a range of other details about Rise of the Tomb Raider.
Unfortunately, the Tomb Raider panel at Gamescom did not bring any light onto the gameplay we can expect from Rise of the Tomb Raider, but it did reveal that the game will be released in the holiday period of 2015, which is just over a year away.
On top of this, Microsoft made it abundantly clear that Rise of the Tomb Raider was going to be released as an Xbox One exclusive title, despite previous listings suggesting the game would be created for both the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One.
It could be very possible that Rise of the Tomb Raider will only be a timed exclusive for the Xbox One, and will be released to the PlayStation 4 later in the year. Either way, it's interesting to see this team up between Square

A brand new trailer for The Division has just been released by Ubisoft, and it reveals a few things about the Xbox One version of the game, as well as showing a short glimpse at real gameplay footage.
Firstly, the new trailer for Tom Clancy's The Division reveals that Ubisoft are planning to share details on the Xbox One version of the game for the first time at this year's Gamescom. On top of this, the trailer shows off a few off-screen glimpses of gameplay from the E3 demo for The Division.
I'm very interested to learn more about Tom Clancy's: The Division, and hopefully Ubisoft will be willing to share a few details about the game at this year's Gamescom, which is under way this month.
Whether Ubisoft will open up a real playable demo to visitors of Gamescom, or whether they'll keep gameplay to themselves is currently unknown, but I expect we'll be seeing some kind of Xbox One based gameplay footage very shortly at Gamescom.

Deep Silver have a lot planned for this year's Gamescom, but perhaps the most exciting thing to come from the developer is a hands-on look at Dead Island 2. Those visiting Gamescom will have the chance to play Dead Island 2 for themselves, marking the first time Deep Silver have let the game go public.
Whilst we may not get a fully featured official gameplay showcase of Dead Island 2 at Gamescom 2014, we can expect to see a large amount of gameplay content hit the internet as soon as the world gets it's hands on the Deep Silver game booths available at the event.
In total, Deep Silver will have 150 different PC and console gaming stations scattered around Gamescom 2014, which should be enough to give a large amount of players a chance to experience Dead Island 2 over the days the event is held.
Dead Island 2 has been set for a release in Early 2015. Unlike previous titles in the franchise, Dead Island 2 will be developed by Yager, a team that has not previously worked

There is no doubt that there are a bunch of great creative minds over at BioWare, so it's always great to see new IP from the development studio, and that's exactly what's going to happen at this year's Gamescom, later in the month.
Whilst a lot of effort is still being put into the Mass Effect and Dragon Age franchises right now, BioWare has now grown to be a behemoth of a company, and it's given them the chance to work on many titles at once.
One such title is a brand new IP that hasn't yet been named. However, the last teaser trailer for the new IP from BioWare, named Spark, suggested that the game would have some sort of relation to strange phenomena.
One piece of the new BioWare IP puzzle suggests that the new game will be related to some kind of 'shadow realm' which could possibly be a strangely alternate version of reality, albeit with some very odd and quite creepy differences.
Honestly, we're not quite sure what the new IP from BioWare will consist of,

Remedy Entertainment has been working quietly on their upcoming third person FPS title, Quantum Break for quite some time now, but they have finally spoken up to reveal that they plan to release their new game in 2015.
Whilst they didn't announce any plans for E3, Remedy Entertainment did state that they were excited to announce a live demo of gameplay in Gamesom this August. Remedy Entertainment went onto say "Quantum Break will deliver an unprecedented fusion of cinematic gameplay and high-quality, live-action storytelling."
Similar to Defiance, a previously released MMO title, Quantum Break will have a TV series shipped alongside the release of the game, and the fate of the show will be determined by player's actions in the game. Players will also be able to pick up tips and gameplay information for Quantum Break whilst watching the TV series.
This is certainly an interesting merge of two mediums, and whilst Defiance didn't truly define it's capabilities, Quantum

If you're interested to hear about the results for first day sales for the PlayStation 4 in the United States, you'll be happy to find out that things have been pretty positive for Sony.
President of Sony Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida, took to twitter to announce that a total of 1 million PlayStation 4's sold on the first day of release in North America alone.
To top that number, Sony plan to sell a total of 5 million units by the end of March 2014, and to be honest at this point in time it's pretty likely Sony will be able to hit this number.
Without taking into consideration any bundles, extra controllers, games or accessories that may have sold, 1 million units sums up to a total of $399m. 5 million units worth would end up being just under two billion at $1.9B.
Sony already announced that a total of 1 million PlayStation 4's had been pre-ordered back at Gamescom in August this year, and with Christmas right around the corner, a big chunk more PlayStation’s
