rise of the tomb raiderIn recent news, it has been revealed that the new upcoming Tomb Raider game, Rise of the Tomb Raider, will be released as an exclusive to Xbox consoles. This information was announced at Gamescom, along with a range of other details about Rise of the Tomb Raider.

Unfortunately, the Tomb Raider panel at Gamescom did not bring any light onto the gameplay we can expect from Rise of the Tomb Raider, but it did reveal that the game will be released in the holiday period of 2015, which is just over a year away.

On top of this, Microsoft made it abundantly clear that Rise of the Tomb Raider was going to be released as an Xbox One exclusive title, despite previous listings suggesting the game would be created for both the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One.

It could be very possible that Rise of the Tomb Raider will only be a timed exclusive for the Xbox One, and will be released to the PlayStation 4 later in the year. Either way, it's interesting to see this team up between Square Enix and Microsoft, and we can only expect to see more exclusivity deals like this in the near future.

Honestly, I think the introduction of third party exclusive titles is a little unfair; these choices are being made to sway new console owners to purchase one console over the other, and going to force enthusiast gamers to purchase both systems to enjoy the various new gen games that are released over the following years.
