If you weren't accustomed to the name already, Lizard Squad is the title given to a group of online hackers that have spent their time bringing down online services for big corporations, and in the past they have managed to attack Sony, League of Legends and many other companies, typically related to the video game industry.
They have now set their sights on an even bigger challenge, and it is actually quite scary, considering the damage they have done in the past. Lizard Squad took to Twitter earlier this month to announce that the plan to bring down Xbox Live on December 25th, and they hope to keep it down forever.
The tweet stated, "This is not a threat, but a promise. On Christmas we will tap in to Microsoft and shut down Xbox Live, forever!"
Obviously, Microsoft are taking the issue very seriously, and I'm sure they will do their best to ensure server performance is as good as possible leading up to Christmas. Microsoft did issue a warning that increased traffic

Telltale are pretty good at telling tales, let's be honest. They created the award winning The Walking Dead series, managed to live up to their high expectations with The Wolf Among Us, and very recently they returned to their story-telling roots by releasing Tales of The Borderlands - a great new game that follows the concoction Telltale are known for whilst exploring the backstory behind the Borderlands universe.
Now, they have plans to release their in-development Game of Thrones game, and it's launch date has been set for December 2nd. On this date, the first part of a six episode series will be released for PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3 and PlayStation 4, with an iOS release following shortly after.
It seems that the entire Game of Thrones six-piece series will be available for just $30, although details on whether players will be able to buy each episode separately have not yet been mentioned by anyone at Telltale.

Whilst nobody is yet the highest prestige in Advanced Warfare yet, the release of the game has allowed players to dive into the code and find out exactly what all of the prestige emblems look like.
Admittedly, all of the prestige emblems in Call of Duty Advanced do look pretty cool, but the most interesting thing to come from the leaked prestige emblems is that there are a total of 16 prestiges in COD Advanced Warfare.
It was revealed earlier in the year that Call of Duty Advanced Warfare would have a total of 15 prestiges, but it looks as if they have added in one more for the mix. On top of having 16 prestiges, Call of Duty Advanced Warfare will have 50 ranks for each prestige, meaning you will have to level up a total of 800 times before you max prestige the game, which is pretty crazy.
In the screenshot shown above, all 16 of the new Call of Duty Advanced Warfare Prestige emblems can be seen.

Payday 2 developers StarBreeze have just released a new DLC pack that is currently only available on the Steam PC store. The new DLC pack includes new guns, melee weapons masks and gun mods for just $4.99.
The new Payday 2 DLC has been dubbed the Gage Assault Pack, and it's promotional art, as you can see above, uncoincidentally resembles the splash art from Battlefield 4. It's clear that Payday 2 has been designed to be a lighthearted game with a humorous approach to gameplay, so this fun-poking at Battlefield from StarBreeze is pretty funny.
Whilst the $4.99 Gaga Assault Pack is currently only available for PC via Steam, it's expected that the DLC pack will eventually be released for other platforms as well, including the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360.
A more-in depth look at the Gage Assault Pack reveals that there will be a total of four new guns, four melee weapons, four masks, 28 gun mods, new mask materials and patterns, and a total of 10 new achievements. Unfortunately

Another month has gone by, and Microsoft have announced their plans for September's free Games with Gold lineup. Whilst the new games for September may not be anywhere near as good as the free games released last month, you can still get hold of a couple of decent titles this month too.
For the Xbox One, players with an Xbox LIVE Gold membership will be able to grab Super Time Force all the way throughout the month, starting from September 1st, and ending September 30th. Super Time Force is an arcade side-scroller title that seems to incorporate game mechanics from games like Contra, and even Alien Hominid.
For the second Xbox One title, players will be handed Crimson Dragon for the second month in a row. Whilst the repeated free release for the Games with Gold promotion has disappointed some Xbox owners, it's important to note that Microsoft's original plans were to release just one Xbox One game for free per month.
As for the Xbox 360, players will be able to download

We've just rolled into a new month, and that means it's time to talk about the next Xbox Live Games with Gold lineup. We've got quite a few treats in store this week, including some Xbox 360 retail titles, as well as a couple digital-based Xbox One games.
Firstly, Xbox One owners with Xbox Gold will be able to treat themselves with Crimson Dragon, an Xbox exclusive that saw itself as one of the few available Xbox One launch titles the day the console was released. Crimson Dragon is an indirect sequel to Panzer Dragoon, a game that made it's rounds on the Original Xbox many years ago. Crimson Dragon will be available all the way throughout the month.
Alongside Crimson Dragon, Xbox Live gold subscribers will be able to get their hands on Strike Suit Zero: Director's Cut, which made it to reality after successfully being backed on Kickstarter. Both Xbox One games are available till August 31st.
As for the Xbox 360, players will be able to pick up Motocross Madness, a Trials

Being able to play the last generation of games on a brand new console may seem like a bit of a gimmick at first, but it is an incredibly useful feature that could help many gamers that are on a budget.
Being able to trade in your Xbox 360 console to help cut down on the costs of the Xbox One is a great option to have, but after building up years worth of games, it may not be that easy for many gamers to give that all up. This is why Xbox 360 emulation on an Xbox One would be immensely handy. In fact, while they're at it, if Microsoft could make the Xbox One support original Xbox games as well, that'd be incredibly useful.
Whilst Microsoft never revealed any plans to have such a feature on the Xbox One, recently Frank Savage, partner development lead at Xbox, revealed that it's not entirely out of the question. When asked whether there were plans to bring an Xbox 360 emulation system to the Xbox One, Frank replied with "There are, but we're not done thinking them through yet,

Whilst Titanfall has already been out for a while on both PC and Xbox One, Respawn Entertainment did originally plan for the title to have an Xbox 360 version released on the same date, too.
However, delays in the development for the last gen port meant that the original release date had to be pushed back for the Xbox 360 version of Titanfall, but it's finally almost time for the game to release, and despite previous concerns, it's looking like it may run fairly smoothly on the old machine.
Whilst development for the Xbox 360 version of Titanfall was handed down to Bluepoint Games, things should not be very different to the PC or Xbox One versions. Senior producer of the Titanfall 360 port, Daryl Allison, stated that despite the Xbox 360 being inferior in terms of hardware capability, the Xbox 360 version of Titanfall won't have any limitations.
"Titanfall on the Xbox 360 is the true experience: all the maps, modes, pilots, titans, weapons, burn cards, you name it,

The new Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2 video game has been fairly enjoyable, and I've actually been surprised at how much I've enjoyed playing through the game revival. However, unlike it's older predecessors, Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2 lives in an age filled with DLC and extra content, so to get the most fun out of the experience, we'll have to wait for Konami to release their planned DLC packs.
According to a forum member on CS.RIN.RU by the name of UbiSergei, the first Lords of Shadow 2 DLC pack will be called Revelations, and it may allow players to play as Alucard. The story of the DLC will let players discover a new plotline and understand "the true extent of Alucard's involvement."
Alucard has been in the Castlevania series since Castlevania 3, so it'll be interesting to see how big fans will react to being able to play as the character. In Lords of Shadow 2, Alucard's father, Dracula, plays a pretty large role in the plotline, so it'll be interesting to see where

If you can excuse the strange choice of music, I have something very exciting to show you. It's a brand new trailer headed for UK cinemas, and it shows some pretty intense footage of Darks Souls 2 in action.
The trailer focuses on an iron-clad hero as he battles through numerous enemies, takes down a dragon, and goes through various forms of terrain. I know that the trailer doesn't really represent actual gameplay footage, but it still looks absolutely awesome.
I was very interested in the first Dark Souls game but have yet to play it unfortunately, but I have heard many great things from the game, so this looks like a very nice treat, especially for anybody that has played the first game.
The trailer seemed to be directly advertising the Black Armor Edition and the Collector's Edition of the game, and showed both copies with their exclusive goodies at the end of the trailer. The Black Armor Edition comes with the game, the title's soundtrack, as well as early access
