metal gear solid dog companionAs it turns out, players will be able to obtain a cute puppy companion in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain which will follow the player around throughout the game.

It has already been revealed that Hideo Kojima's new AI companion system will allow players to pick allies of Snake to join him on missions throughout Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, but a new a gameplay video from Tokyo Game Show reveals a new companion that I think a lot of players are going to learn to love.

The companion, which has been named the Diamond Dog, is a wolf companion that can be found in-game as a puppy. The game event at the Tokyo Game Show captured the relationship between Snake and the wolf as it grows, and I must admit, it is certainly filled with a lot of 'Aww' moments.

The Diamond Dog even manages to receive his own eye patch later in the story, too. It must be noted that playing alongside the Diamond Dog, or any other AI companion character is completely optional, and players can choose whether to take these companions on missions with them before they set off to reach their destination.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is set for release at some point in 2015 for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and the PC. So far, no solid release date has been announced, but as we near closer to 2015, I expect a confirmation for an exact date for the release of the game will be unveiled.
