minecraft ps4Whilst Minecraft for the PlayStation 4 has been available as a digital download from the PlayStation Network since the beginning of this month, many players who have hoped for a retail version of the game have had to hold their breath for a physical release.

Luckily enough, Mojang has now announced that the physical retail version of Minecraft PS4 is on the way, and players will be able to pick it up from in-store starting from some time in October this year. In Sony's official press release related to the matter, Sony announced that,

"As many of you will already know, Minecraft: PlayStation 4 Edition has been available from PlayStation Store since the beginning of the month. Following the successful digital launch, we are pleased to announce that the retail disc version will be available from 3rd October."

Sony followed on this topic by mentioning the upcoming PS Vita version of Minecraft, and their plans for cross-buy support for the game,

"In other Minecraft related news, for those waiting for the PS Vita Edition, we'll have more information on this in a few weeks and will include full details on how the Cross-Buy works between the PS3 and PS Vita Editions."

Despite Minecraft already being one of the top selling games on many other platforms, the PS4 version of the game is proving popular among PlayStation 4 owners, and it's already pulling in many more sales for Mojang, which will ultimately now go to Microsoft.
