Black Ops 4 Will Get Hardcore, But Not Blackout

If you’re a diehard Call of Duty fan, you’ll already know the majority of game modes featured in most games like the back of your hand.

One popular game variant that has seen a lot of popularity in the past is Hardcore mode. Typically, a COD game will have hardcore variants of existing game types. For example, hardcore Search and Destroy or Team Deathmatch.

Hardcore mode reduces a player’s HUD and makes the time to kill far quicker. This makes dying a lot easier, hence the name. There has always been a mixed reception for hardcore mode, but many players love it.

Thankfully, Treyarch announced that hardcore mode will be coming to the multiplayer for Black Ops 4. No details have been shared about how it will work, though. With Black Ops 4 using an entirely new health system, the hardcore mode will need to be adjusted to fit this system.

Treyarch also revealed that while the standard multiplayer will get a hardcore mode, Blackout will not get such a mode. There wasn’t any explanation as to why this is the case, but it makes sense. In Blackout, players invest far more into each game, so it’s only fair that the game is a little more forgiving when it comes to dying.

In my opinion, Hardcore mode would make the gameplay frustrating. It would allow players to be put into situations where they could die before they even have the chance to respond or take notice of where they are getting shot from.
