Video Game/Movie Series to be rebooted

Seeing how box office success is now determined by the simple formula: Remake/Sequel + inaccurate trailers + big explosions = success, it seems its about time for a reboot of the Tomb Raider films, even though the original only came out in 2001 with a 2003 sequel. I guess theyre running out of old movies to remake so they have to revamp new ones. Whats next, a grittier reboot of Inception with an all new cast?

Anyways, this past Monday, GK Films announced that they had acquired the movie rights for Tomb Raider from Square Enix, and should have a new film out in theatres by 2013. No word has been released yet on casting and whether Angelina Jolie will be donning the Lara Croft breast enhancing excavator outfit again, but Im sure something will be released soon.

Great to hear of the creativity of the 21st centurys writers and producers. After all, what easier way to make money than to follow up a franchise that has already grossed over $430 million dollars globally?

That said, apparently a new Tomb Raider game is in the works right now focusing on Lara Crafts origins. Now THAT Im excited for.
