Is a Gears 5 Controller on the Horizon?

If previous entries are any indication, a Gears 5 controller could be coming with the game’s launch on September 10th, 2019.

We’re eagerly anticipating a new controller, as we’ve been developing Gears of War controllers since the release of Gears of War 3, and we’ve been jacked about the different designs that the team at Microsoft has come up with over the years. Even though nothing has been officially announced yet, you can just about guarantee that there’ll be new hardware launching alongside the newest game.

If you’ve been sleeping through the last release, we’ve been hard at work making the perfect Gears of Wars controllers over the past few years. Our current Xbox One Master Mod has several mods that are ideal as Gears of War mods include: Rapid Fire, Active Reload, Custom Active Reload, Auto Chainsaw, and Auto Mark. While not approved for eSports events, they give you the edge you need at the time you need it when you play online. Needless to say, we’re going to be ready to have the best mods for Gears 5 and they will be a game-changer.

Judging Past Entries

A big part of Gears of War Controllers are the designs that have been crafted for players. We’ve taken a look at the entire official lineup and decided to let you know which ones we like the best.

Gears of War 4 Limited Edition Elite Controller- This takes the cake as being my favorite Gears controller ever. It brings the beauty of the next two controllers I’ll mention and packs in the brilliant features of the Elite Controller. If you combine this controller with our mods, you’re sure to get a leg up on the competition at your next tournament.

Gears of War 4 Crimson Omen Limited Edition- This beast is an absolute beauty. The bold red design is mixed with the upgraded Xbox One Controller design, which brings Bluetooth to the table. With our mods in place, this is one of my favorite controllers to show off at eSports events.

Gears of War 3 Controller- Okay, maybe I’m a sucker for red, but this controller is one that I’ve owned multiples of over the years. It reminds me a lot of the Gears 4 Omen controller but somehow looks even more menacing. If you can find it somewhere, pick one up, they’re becoming more scarce as time goes by.

Gears of War 4 JD Fenix Limited Edition- I’m not a big fan of grey controllers, but this one looks pretty sharp. I like the blue accents worked into the controller, including the blue bolts. Without a doubt, if you show up for an event sporting one of these, you’ll draw some eyeballs.

What We’d Like to See

As we get closer to launch, we’re waiting to see what will drop in terms of controllers. I noticed that in the GameStop Collector’s Edition with the Jack Drone, there’s an interesting controller with a dark blue and yellow paint scheme. Something like this would look amazing on an Elite Controller, and I wouldn’t be surprised if something like this comes through on the Gears 5 Controller.

Of course, any designs we see would be boosted if they’re given the Elite treatment. It’s almost a sure thing that we’ll see a standard Xbox One Controller, but we love putting our mods to Elites and hope that it’s something we get to see.

At any rate, we only have another couple of months before we get to see just what Microsoft has up its sleeves as Gears 5 is slated to launch.
