16 Year Old Wins Fortnite World Cup

A 16 year old pro-gamer has shocked the world by winning the first-ever Fortnite World Cup, raking in a huge $3 million prize in the process.

The big winner is Kyle ‘Bugha’ Giersdorf of Pennsylvania, who took home the largest eSports prize in history. He ended up besting 99 other players in the final round and survived against 40 million other players who participated in the prelims.

The big winner is enrolled in high school and certainly appears set for life after the “epic” (pun intended) win. The eSports tournament took place at the Billie Jean King Tennis Center in New York, and featured some of the best players in the world.

Bugha plays about six hours a day on school nights, starting usually around 3 and playing until 9. He works around his homework schedule but obviously can use a bit more time on weekends and during the summer.

Of course, we’re thrilled whenever we hear of someone winning a huge prize, and the fact that such a young player took home the prize shows that there’s going to be a big future for eSports. We’ve taken a long look at Fortnite, and we’ve developed Fortnite custom controllers to help give players of all skill levels an edge in the game. From mods to re-mappable buttons, our controllers do a lot to boost your skills. If you’re looking for a particularly awesome option, I recommend our Evil Shift Fortnite Edition controller, which is a personal favorite of mine and comes in at a competitive price compared to the competition.

While we don’t know if Bugha has used one of our Fortnite controllers, we’re confident that they’ll give you an edge on whatever platform you play. Make sure to get your rounds in, as Epic will be hosting a second World Cup event in 2020.
