metal gear solid v world sizeSo, you may have heard a few times now that the world size in Metal Gear Solid V will be large, but a new analysis of the released map photos suggests that The Phantom Pain might just have a world that is larger than that of Grand Theft Auto V.

In the new analysis by a NeoGAF user, screenshots of the in-game map shows off the size of the playable area, compared to the whole map size. Roughly speaking, the map in the Phantom Pain looks to be around 120 to 150 times the playable size of Ground zeroes, according to the NeoGAF user.

With this information, the user calculated that it would take roughly 3 minutes to drive from one side of the map to the other. Whilst it takes roughly double this to travel across GTA V, the map in question only shows off Africa. Afghanistan is another area in Metal Gear Solid V that has been confirmed, and should roughly be the same size of Africa.

Obviously a lot of the world in MGSV will be open desert land, so it won't feel engaging throughout the entirety of the map like Grand Theft Auto V does, but the travel times between mission areas will certainly be interesting.

I can't wait to see how the developers of the Phantom Pain put all of the open space in their world to use. Are you excited to see what Africa and Afghanistan are like in Metal Gear Solid V?
