Rainbow Six Siege Maps Being Removed From Ranked

In a sudden, never-before-seen move, Ubisoft has planned to remove a number of maps from the competitive map pool.

Once the maps are removed, they'll no longer appear in the ranked game mode. They will, however, remain in casual mode and terrorist hunt mode.

Going forward, only nine maps will remain in the ranked mode for Rainbow Six Siege. The nine remaining maps are Bank, Clubhouse, Oregon, Kafe, Consulate, Chalet, Border, Coastline, and Skyscraper. These are the same maps that will be used in competitive leagues.

"Moving forward, we will introduce the new Ranked and ESL Pro League playlists at the same time we perform the rank reset--and all of that will occur at the start of the new season," Ubisoft explained. "The Ranked playlist, much like the ESL playlist, will be rotated each Season, offering a different selection of available maps."

Interestingly, not all maps will remain in the game. Some maps will be removed from the game entirely to be reworked. Casual mode will have a total of 15 maps. The first nine maps are the same as those listed above, while the other six are Kanal, Hereford, University, House, Plane, and Theme Park.

Ubisoft will also be removing the map preference system that previously allowed players to prioritize certain maps. Going forward, all players will be forced to play a map at random from any of the maps listed above.

All of the map changes will be going live alongside the new Operation Blood Orchid 3.0 update.
