PlayStation 4 Specs

With high hopes of Playstation 4 coming out within the next year (best case scenario), we decide to take a look at all info about PS4 made available since April of this year. We shall try our best to summarize all info available on the rumored PS4, codenamed Orbis.

Well first off the bat is the fact that this time around there would be an advanced piracy blocking system. We all knew they were really going to increase the security of next gen systems. Additionally the reuse of games will also be blocked. This would supposedly be achieved via a download from the Playstaion Network that would lock the Blu-Ray to a specific system thus, rendering reuse of Blu-Ray discs impossible.

Okay now let's look at something a bit more cheerful, the specs of this upcoming bad boy. Rumors suggest that the chips in the PS4 would be based on AMD's A8-3850 APU and Radeon HD 7670 GPU. The A8-3850 is a quad-core 2.9 GHz processor which also has an integrated graphics chip. The Radeon HD 7670 GPU is a DirectX 11 enabled card clocked at 1 GHz and has 1 GB of VRAM.

Based on the fact the HD 7670 is identical to last year's HD 6670, some basic assumptions could be made. The HD 6670 has the capability to render Crysis 2 in high settings at a resolution of 1920 X 1080 (full HD) with frame rates slightly above 30 fps. This chip can also support the HDMI 1.4a output which is required for the rumored 4K resolution output of the PS4.

It is expected that with the use of a lightweight OS and optimized games, the overall performance of the system is going to be much better. The main advantage of Sony is the fact that the A8-3850 has the integrated HD 6550D which would allow them to utilize asymmetrical CrossFire configuration to share the load of graphics processing.

As you can see guys, the rumored PS4 is a verifiable gaming monster. But keep in mind that the exact chipsets might change in the final product. Also even if they use the exact chips mentioned above, considering that they will be custom made for the console we can pretty much be certain that the final specs will vary. Of course any change made will only make the system better.

If you're a huge PlayStation fan, remember that Evil Controllers offers gamers a PS3 modded controller with cool shell options and the ability to add bullet buttons. Stay tuned as new options become available!
